The Witcher is coming to an end. The show announced today on X that Netflix has picked up a fifth season of the fantasy adaptation, which will be its last.
“It’s official, The Witcher season 4 is in production. But that’s not all, we’re already planning season 5, which will be the final season and bring this epic show to a fitting conclusion. See you on The Continent,” Netflix confirmed.
As Netflix noted, Season 4 production is underway.
After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other. If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in, they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again.

Lionsgate Television is teaming with Park Chan-wook to develop an English-language TV adaptation of Park’s iconic film “Oldboy.”
Park directed and co-wrote the original film, which was itself loosely based on the Japanese manga of the same name. He will produce the new series version along with his producing partner, Syd Lim. Executives Courtney Mock and Tara Joshi are overseeing the project for Lionsgate Television. Bryan Weiser negotiated the deal.
“Lionsgate Television shares my creative vision for bringing ‘Oldboy’ into the world of television,” said Park. “I look forward to working with a studio whose brand stands for bold, original and risk-taking storytelling.”
Originally released in 2003, “Oldboy” tells the story of a man who is kidnapped and held prisoner in a sealed hotel room for 15 years. He is suddenly released with no explanation, only to learn he has five days to discover why he was imprisoned or face the consequences.

It’s season finale time for networks, but Netflix, naturally, still has plenty of brand new TV and shows coming in May.
Jeff Daniels makes his TV return in the David E. Kelley series “A Man in Full.” That six-episode series is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Tom Wolfe. Per a press release: “When Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker faces sudden bankruptcy, political and business interests collide as Charlie defends his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his fall from grace.” The series will also star Tom Pelphrey, Diane Lane, Lucy Liu, William Jackson Harper, Aml Ameen, Sarah Jones, Jon Michael Hill and Chanté Adams.
Additionally, comedy fans can get excited for a new special series from John Mulaney. The comedian is hosting a multi-night event, “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA,” that looks to be part interview show and part man-on-the-street hijinks.

For almost as long as there has been a Late Night With Seth Meyers there has been “A Closer Look,” which is essentially Meyers’ version of a monologue.
Except instead of a traditional monologue, where the topic changes almost as quickly as the jokes fly, “A Closer Look” allows Meyers to sometimes spend 10-plus minutes engaging in a deeper conversation about the biggest news story of the day, which could be about anything from Donald Trump’s legal woes to Rudy Giuliani’s repulsive bathroom habits (note: there’s usually at least one Giuliani joke—even if the former NYC Mayor is not in the news).
With hundreds of “A Closer Look” segments in the can, you might think that asking Meyers to choose a favorite might be a lot like asking a parent to choose their favorite child.

That was down from $50.3 million for Sarandos in 2022, according to Netflix’s proxy statement filed Thursday with the SEC. In 2023, Sarandos had a base salary of $3 million, $28.3 million worth of stock option awards, a $16.5 cash bonus and $1.98 million in other compensation. The Netflix board’s compensation committee approved the residential security costs “after considering the potential security concerns related to Mr. Sarandos’ service as an executive officer and believes the security costs are a necessary and appropriate business expense.

In his seven-part Netflix miniseries, “Baby Reindeer,” adapted from his one-man show, Scottish writer and comedian Richard Gadd recounts the true story of being harassed and stalked for years. Compelling and unsettling, Gadd, who portrays Donny Dunn, the fictionalized version of himself, transports the audience to one of the most painful periods of his life. The series untangles the nuances of his emotions, his stalker’s temperament and past incidents that fortified his frame of mind at the time. Shocking, hilarious, painful and devastating, “Baby Reindeer” is a rare gem on television, reminding us of what is possible in the medium.

Netflix added a whopping 9.33 million subscribers in the first quarter of the year, an impressive figure that blew away Wall Street’s expectations. We now know it has just shy of 270 million subscribers worldwide.
Well, don’t get used to it. 2024 is the last year Netflix will share publicly how many subscribers it added or lost in a given quarter during its quarterly earnings reports, the company announced on Thursday to kick off its fiscal 2024.
The streamer writes that beginning in Q1 2025, Netflix will “stop reporting quarterly membership numbers and Arm,” which stands for “average revenue per membership.” So not only will we not know each quarter how many subscribers Netflix has at a given moment, we also won’t know how much revenue it made off each of those subscribers.
The company explains it’s now focused on revenue, operating margins, and engagement (time spent on Netflix) as its main barometers for success.

Netflix added 9.33 million subscribers in the first quarter of 2024, for which Wall Street had anticipated 4.9 million net adds. That’s a legit wow, as is Netflix’s new grand total of 269.60 million global paid subscribers.
Sure, Netflix added more than 13 million subs in the prior quarter, but in the last Q1, the company added fewer than 2 million subscribers. Things have been going very well for Netflix as of late. A year ago, shares in Netflix (Nflx) traded around $331; today, they closed at $611.15. After hours, the Nflx share price declined due to the company’s Q2 earnings forecasts not burning as bright.
And perhaps this also didn’t help: Next year, Netflix is making some major changes to how it reports its membership. The company said in today’s shareholder letter it will no longer report its subscriber tally on a quarterly basis, rather it will just announce “major subscriber milestones” as it crosses them.

Los Angeles film and TV production has begun to rebound from last year’s strikes, but still remains well below pre-strike levels, according to data released Thursday by FilmLA.
Total location shoot days increased to 6,823 in the first quarter of 2024, up 23% from the fourth quarter of 2023. But the level remained below the same quarter in 2023, and 20% below the five-year average for the period.

The Conners have always struggled with money — but a financial development in the Roseanne spinoff’s most recent episode probably caught a few longtime viewers off guard.
Season 6, Episode 8 (“Toilet Hacks and the Management Trick”) marked Dan Conner’s 70th birthday. To commemorate the occasion, Dan announced to the family that he was going to start collecting his social security and union pension. “Yep, I beat the system by being poor and living longer than the government thought I would,” he said. (I mean, he lived longer than any of us thought he would, but I digress….)

Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction. It’s why many true crime viewers are so drawn to the genre: It helps us better understand the world around us — as well as the parts that have been hidden in our blind spots. While true crime documentaries can send chills down your spine, they also reveal the unjust systems at play, spotlight the psychological extremes that humans are capable of, and, when done respectfully, give the victims and survivors the opportunity to speak for themselves.
As the genre grows, so does the selection of cases to choose from. Need a clue on where to start? Here are 15 true crime documentaries to stream.

CBS has found Elsbeth—and the titular character played by Carrie Preston—to be as much a delight as we do: The network has renewed it for a second season! This news comes the day that the fifth episode will air, on Thursday, April 18. (The Season 1 finale will air on May 22.) The drama is the #2 most-watched new series of the season. It will return for the 2024-2025 season. “Elsbeth has charmed audiences with its singular blend of delightful humor, distinctive ‘how-done-it’ storytelling, and the inventive, brilliant quirkiness of Elsbeth Tascioni,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment. “Executive producers Robert and Michelle King have a stellar track record for creating critically acclaimed series full of unforgettable characters and, alongside showrunner Jonathan Tolins and his writing team, have developed an incredibly entertaining and engrossing New York City-centric world for the show to explore. “Elsbeth” has scored an early Season 2 renewal at CBS, Variety has learned.
The news comes after the freshman series has aired just four episodes, with the fifth set to air on April 18. It was originally ordered to series at CBS in May 2023 but did not debut until February 2024 after production was impacted by the strikes that shut down much of Hollywood in 2023.
Carrie Preston stars in the series as Elsbeth Tascioni, reprising the role she previously played on both “The Good Wife” and “The Good Fight.” In the series, Elsbeth leaves Chicago and heads to New York to work as an investigator alongside the police.

Jimmy Kimmel was widely praised last month for presiding over an entertaining edition of The Academy Awards that actually saw year-over-year ratings growth (a rarity these days in linear television).
In fact, it was such a success that when asked whether he’d invite Kimmel back to host next year, ABC’s executive vice president of Unscripted and Alternative Entertainment Rob Mills said he’d be willing to sign Kimmel to a “lifetime contract” for hosting the Oscars. “I mean, I will certainly beg him to do it,” he said.
At the time, Kimmel’s side seemed less enthused. Asked about the possibility of returning, Kimmel’s wife and producing partner Molly McNearny said they needed time to think about it. “Ask me in a month or two after I’ve had a little bit of vitamin D maybe… I honestly don’t know. I feel like we’ve done a great job.

NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises Chairman Luis Fernandez is spearheading an executive shuffle and a restructuring of Telemundo Studios in a bid to amp up the company’s scripted content for both linear and streaming platforms.
“At a time when Telemundo is the most-watched network in prime time, we are super-charging our scripted content production under one strong brand: Telemundo Studios,” said Fernandez who returned in December to Telemundo where he was previously head of the news division for six years before taking a hiatus.
“For almost two decades, Telemundo has led in the production of Spanish-language content made by Hispanics for Hispanics.

Orlando Bloom takes himself to all-new heights and depths in his new three-part docuseries, Orlando Bloom: To the Edge. The actor may be best known for roles in big-budget blockbusters like the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean franchises, but it seems his truest passion is finding and testing his own limits—physically, mentally, and emotionally. In each episode of the series, Bloom challenges himself to accomplish a very difficult and dangerous activity after just a few weeks of training. First, there’s the matter of learning to wingsuit solo; then, he decides to dive 100 feet into the ocean while holding his breath; and, finally, he climbs a massive peak that forces him to confront his deepest fear. Each challenge is draining and revelatory for Bloom, and we learned so much about the actor (and apparent adrenaline fiend) watching it all play out. He was very moved...

Returning for its 15th annual edition this weekend, the TCM Classic Film Festival will turn Hollywood Blvd. into the center of the movie universe again for four days, for that very obsessive and loving subset of film fans that has the network’s vintage fare as part of their weekly and daily lives. On April 26, Clint Howard will make his debut on The Bold and the Beautiful as Tom, a homeless man who Deacon (Sean Kanan) and Finn (Tanner Novlan) encounter in their pursuit of solving a mystery. For the veteran performer, adding the credit to his resumé was a welcome change. “This is a surprising turn of events for me,” Howard admits. “I have never been a big soap opera guy, but to be on The Bold and the Beautiful, that’s a notch in my gun belt.” This isn’t Howard’s first time on a soap — he appeared on Santa Barbara as a character named Marshall for a handful of episodes in 1987. His most vivid memory of the experience was working alongside A Martinez (ex-Cruz Castillo). “A Martinez was an actor that I worked with a long, long time ago, in the mid-’70s, on a TV series called The Cowboys,...

It will be worth it. That’s what the first two seasons of Good Omens have taught us as we await the third to return. The Prime Video series, based on the book of the same name by Neil Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett and now expanding on that story, began by following the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and the demon Crowley (David Tennant) over the leading up to their attempt to stop Armageddon after the birth of the antichrist. The second season moved beyond the book and saw Aziraphale and Crowley hiding the amnesiac archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) from both Heaven and Hell before it ended in heartbreak. We know it will be some time before we find out what happens next, so below, we’re gathering everything we know about the future of Good Omens, including teases we got from Gaiman. Where Did Good Omens Season 2 Leave Crowley & Aziraphale?...

Caitlin Clark proved to be one of the most-watched sensations in all of sports this year, catapulting her Iowa Hawkeyes college team to the widely-watched national championships. After smashing scoring records in the NCAA, she was drafted as the number-one pick by the WNBA’s Indiana Fever. Her reported salary? She’ll make $76,535 for her first year, $78,066 for the second year, and $85,873 for the third. She also has a fourth-year option of $97,582. Whether she gets that rumored eight-figure endorsement deal with Nike or not, the difference between her salary and that of newly drafted NBA players is staggering and had many folks, up to and including President Joe Biden, speaking out against the pay disparity. The ladies of The View had particularly strong insights on the matter since ABC Studios, where they work, is affiliated with ESPN, which recently elevated its broadcast coverage of the sport, through parent company Disney.
