LaBeouf's Arrest Warrant Waived

A warrant for the arrest of Shia LaBeouf has been recalled a day after the actor failed to show up in court to face an unlawful smoking charge. The Disturbia star missed a hearing in Burbank, California on Tuesday, relating to an incident last month when he was cited for lighting up in a non-smoking shopping area. Authorities issued a $1,000 bench warrant for his arrest. But on Wednesday court Commissioner Kirkland Nyby discarded the warrant after LaBeouf's attorney turned up to plead not guilty on the 21-year-old's behalf. A pre-trial hearing has been set for April 24. LaBeouf's latest legal woe comes just months after the actor was arrested for trespassing in a Chicago, Illinois drugstore. The 21-year-old was charged with a public misdemeanor in November, after refusing to leave the store while drunk. The charges were later dropped.

He directed most of The English Patient with an ankle in plaster, never losing his gentle humor and precision. His films deal with extreme aloneness and the redemptive power of love, even at the moment of death. I will remember him as a man who always wanted to get to the heart of the matter."
