- Documentary looking at Top Of the Pops' changing musical direction in 1978, when pop singles were slowly being replaced in the chart by disco, punk and New Wave. It looks the show's treatment of particularly punk and New Wave acts, and New Wave performers in general swallowing their pride and appearing on TotP, a show which was still seen mainly as Light Entertainment.

- In 1979, Top of the Pops celebrated its 800th edition, and also saw the show record its highest audience of 19 million viewers. 1979 is maybe the most diverse year ever for acts on Top of the Pops with disco at its peak, new wave, 2 Tone, reggae, rock, folk and New Romantic records all making the top five. This program looks at the year in which the traditional Top of the Pops MoR clashed head on with New Wave, and the UK was falling apart with almost continuous strikes.

Dexy's Midnight Runners re-invented themselves with a new Irish sound and the show pushed its presentation with professional 'cheerleaders' in the audience. 1982 also saw the reemergence of John Peel as a regular presenter.

- Beryl and Sandra are both getting sad. It's Beryl's last day in the flat before her big wedding day. Sandra gives her a wedding present early, it's sexy pink underwear. Then a strange woman phones twice looking for Robert, and she won't say what it's in reference to. They track her down though, and she turns out to be pregnant. On the big day, some street urchins let the tires of the wedding cars down, and everyone has to go to the wedding partly on the bus, and then hitching a lift in a lorry.
- It's Beryl's birthday, and Sandra is planning a surprise party for her. Among her presents she gets a hamster in the post from Robert. Only Beryl hates 'rodents', or at least she does until she finds out that the hamster is pregnant. She also has a massive goldfish bowl, a far too big knitted jumper, and a strange blue hat from Mrs Hutchinson. They then discover that Thingy has gone missing so the race is on to find it.
- Beryl is really happy, and has been singing the Wedding March ever since Robert proposed to her. The kitchen is a mess though, and Sandra would rather have her freedom. Robert is coming up from London, and has arranged to meet Beryl at the posh Apollo. Beryl asks Sandra for help in buying a ring, and a dress, she wants a 'solitaire with two stones'! While in the restaurant toilet getting changed into her posh dress though, a woman pinches all her things, clothes and all, leaving her in just her bra, panties and heels!
- Sandra has told Carol that she's now dating her ex, Bill, and she's not too happy about it. The two mothers find out though, and can't stop arguing. To try and keep the peace Sandra tells Bill not to phone her again. Carol goes and confesses, only the Father tells her that she must help them be together. To try and forget about Bill, Sandra decides to re-arrange the furniture. Carol manages to get Sandra and Bill together at a restaurant, but she gets a shock when Bill tells her that not only does he eat meat, he works at an abattoir! When she gets home though, she finds out that Carol is all dolled up and about to go on a date with Paul!
- Beryl seems to be having trouble with her ring. First it gets attached to Robert while they are saying goodbye at the train station. Then the morning it arrives back in the post, she leaves it in Sandra's trifle dish and she swallows it. Both panicked, Sandra is rushed to hospital, with parents and Paul in tow.
- Sandra's brother is coming to visit her from Australia. She hasn't seen him for 8 years and is getting quite excited. Sandra thinks that Beryl should start seeing him as it will stop her 'moping about Robert'. Beryl's a bit shocked though when he invites her jogging with him...at 6 in the morning! As the two of them get closer, there are shocks all round when Mrs Hutchinson finds a marriage certificate.
- After sleeping in and being late for work yet again, Beryl's boss gets fed up and sacks her. For good measure, he also sacks Sandra. During the hunt for work, Sandra fancies the vacancy for 2 farm hands in Caerphilly, Wales. She doesn't mention in the application form that her and Beryl aren't men, so the farmer gets a bit of a shock. They bungle along, until they are asked to kill Henrietta the chicken for dinner!
- Sandra is alone and missing Beryl. She's put an advert in the local Echo for a flatmate, and finally gets a call from a clumsy, brash girl called Carol. Sandra though, wants someone older, Carol's only 19 and she wants someone she can 'converse with'. That doesn't include Paul, who keeps pestering her.
- Beryl is making her own wedding dress, but has to be careful as Robert is staying with her and Sandra for the week. They then get another visitor, as the lady from the kennels phones and asks Sandra if she'll look after Skip the dog for the weekend. Unfortunately he's a big lump, and just sleeps on the sofa - Robert's bed. There's more trouble when the girls' mothers discover that he's staying there!
- Sandra's mother comes around, and gets introduced to Carol. She gives her the third degree, but declares that she 'can talk to her', and they get on strangely well. Sandra is on a new keep fit craze, but then gets a phone call - there's a family crisis and her mother has walked out again. Sandra and Carol trace her to a local hotel where they think she's having an affair.
- Hard up for cash, Sandra gets a job in a local dog kennels. Beryl meanwhile has trouble at the laundrette, and becomes the main cleaner around the flat, constantly interrupting Sandra and Paul when they try to be all romantic, and ruining all Sandra's clothes. Beryl thinks she's a failure. A phone call to Robert though, freaks her out when a woman answers. Sandra then makes matters even worse when she declares that Paul has proposed. With everyone around her getting divorced though, how does she tell Paul that she actually doesn't want to marry him? Beryl then gets a surprise call from Robert!
- The girls have one week off and only £25. Sandra's parents have parted, her dad is in a bedsit - she needs a holiday somewhere. With Jamaica out of the question, they decide to go pony trekking across the Pennines, but first they need to sort out Sandra's parents. Arriving at Sandra's mothers though, they see a strange man arriving with some flowers!
- Beryl has news from Robert that he has been made an Area Manager in Liverpool, so they can get married earlier. Not rushing things too much, they've arranged the date for 'a week tomorrow'! Beryl's mother though, needs to know lots of personal details of Robert when she finds out he's an agnostic! After having a big chat with Sandra, Beryl has a nightmare about the wedding, so runs off scared. All Paul can do to help though, is move his things into the flat in Beryl's place, much to Sandra's horror. Sandra and Paul try and search for her before having to meet Robert at the train station. Robert though, has slipped his disc, and can't move.
- The girls are off work, and it's sunny so Sandra convinces Carol to partake in some sunbathing. While Sandra is in the skimpiest bikini though, Carol is completely covered. After Carol convinces her that the sun is bad for your skin, making her cover up, Sandra gets told off for feeding the birds. They then get a nasty letter telling them to stop feeding the birds, or further action will be taken. So Sandra decides to complain about the complainers and fight back.
- Having been at the laundrette, Sandra drops most of the clean clothes on the pavement while running for the bus. She wishes they had their own washing machine. Sandra is worrying about getting old, she's bought face cream, vitamin pills and a yoga magazine. She then gets a visit from Carol's brother Lucian with bad news about his and Carol's Uncle Billy - he's dead.
- Carol hasn't seen her dad in five years, but she needs more money than she's got to try and find him. So, much to Sandra's disgust, she decides to enter the works beauty contest. Deciding that men should like them for their minds and not their bodies, Sandra decides to stop wearing makeup, much to Paul's disgust. Sandra gets a bit of a shock though, when Paul decides to 'dress down' as well. Sandra has to help Carol though, when her overnight fake tan goes very wrong!
- After Carol and Sandra have shared memories of their past lovers Carol fixes it so that Sandra just happens to run into Bill,a former boyfriend from her animal rights days. Unfortunately he is not the man that she thought he was - he works for an abattoir - and when she gets home she finds that Carol only wanted her out of the house so that she could be alone with Paul.
- Tozo and Heumac return from their tests, much to the delight of the Empress Chimalma. The Coronation of Chimalma and Heumac is announced, but it cannot take place until the missing crowns of Chichen-Itza are found. The task of finding them is down to Tozo. The statue of Tescata is pulled down, and in it's ruins Tozo finds the the mirror that holds the key to the hiding place of the missing crowns. Nasca though, wants it also. Keelag shows Nasca how to use magic powers to control the minds of all men.
- Tozo is captured by Nasca and tortured by Xipec to try and find the whereabouts of the sacred mirror of Teshcata. Prince Heumac searches for him in vain. Nasca uses his magic lamp to mesmerize Chimalma and her councilors, making them think he is Otolmi, to exert his evil influence over them. Keelag poisons the first of the city wells. As the madness spreads, one of its victims is brought before Chimalma and the court.
- Prince Heumac and his army make for immediate departure to rescue Tozo, who is still being tortured outside the city by Xipec. The forces of evil gather momentum, and Nasca tricks Chimalma into believing she is responsible for the madness and plague that has struck down the city. To atone, she must forfeit her life so he poisons Mataque to try and kill her.
- After burying Chimalma alive, Nasca kills the old woman Keelag. Chimalma is rescued though, by Prince Heumac. Tozo discovers the secret of Teshcata's dark mirror and solves the mystery of the missing crowns of Chichen-Itza. Xipec challenges Heumac to a fight to the death in hand to hand combat. After Otolmi claims to be responsible for the madness, Chimalma, Heumac and the court of guards go to find and confront Nasca, but he hypnotizes them in one final desperate bid to seize power by pretending to be Teshcata. Only Otolmi sees through the facade.
- Jimmi helps a teenage runaway, who has been drawn into a dangerous sexual situation. She's fainted in the police station, but can he help her realize that there's no place like home? Heston's humiliation is complete when he confirms Kevin's accusations are true by walking into the Mill covered in blood, and news of his ordeal spreads. Mrs Tembe goes round to his house to try and help him. Karen makes a mistake that puts their new house at risk.
- Elaine is in the middle of taking an anger management session at the Mill when the power goes off. It seems most of Letherbridge is affected, though not the Campus surgery, so most patients are sent there. Fortunately Rob manages to fix the backup generator, which is good as they are expecting an audit from the PCT. Jack joins Rob as he tries to find out who caused the blackout. One of Elaine's patients is very angry. He has started throwing things and gets really upset when his partner, children and horrid mother all turn up. Daniel's day starts off badly - he's not getting much sleep, and Zara refuses to have phone sex with him. He gets a visit from a young, sexy patient though, who's afraid of the dark.
- With the power still off, Elaine tries to deal with a room full of angry, 'shouty' people, one of whom is determined to torch the place. Freya is dealing with the boy that Rob is after. Will he admit to her how he got the burns on his hands? Daniel tries to deal with his sex mad female patient, and the two people from the PCT keep wandering around on their own. Are they really who they say they are though?

Freya visits her Aunt Patti, who suffers from Lupus. Karen suggests to Daniel that he has a Botox party at her house.

The drug trial has started, and Freya has to see Aunt Patti to put her straight on the lies that she wrote on the application form, so that she doesn't give the game away! Cherry has the problem of what to buy Jimmi for his birthday!
