- In 1910, Karl Otto Bonnier and his family moved into the newly built house Nedre Manilla on Djurgården in Stockholm. The house became a gathering place for writers and artists. It also became the site of a unique collection of author portraits. Karl Otto laid the foundation for the Manilla art collection. In his case, the art collection was associated with a desire to give the publisher's author a face.
