East Lynne 1921 - Lost Film ?
PamelaShort22 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Isabel Vane ( Mabel Ballin ) leads a blissful life married to Archibald Carlyle ( Edward Earle ) and is the proud mother of a son, while living at the family estate, East Lynne. But she mistakenly believes her husband is cheating with Barbara Hare ( Gladys Coburn ), who has come to East Lynne to seek Archibald's legal advice. Isabel soon submits to the persuasions of Francis Levison ( Henry G. Sell ), and she leaves her family to marry him. When Levison abandons Isabel and their daughter, she sets out for East Lynne to ask Archibald's forgiveness but is seriously injured in a train wreck. Finally arriving at her destination, Isabel dies before she learns that Archibald--believing her dead--has married Barbara Hare.

This 1921 film version of the English novel East Lynne, was directed and produced by Hugo Ballin and released in theaters in March 1921. Sadly it now remains a lost silent film.
