The Journey's End - Lost Ballin Film
PamelaShort17 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Mabel Ballin plays The Girl, who has been educated in Rome, she now desires to come home and writes her Uncle in America, who offers her a place with his family. Upon arriving to the Pennsylvania foundry town, she is dismayed by the unbearable living conditions and quickly accepts the Ironworker's ( George Bancroft ) marriage proposal. A few years pass and a child is born to them. The Mill Owner ( Wyndham Standing ) comes to their home to discuss business and she falls in love with him. She decides to leave home with her child, rather than face the temptation she feels. Her husband is aware of her love for the mill worker, so he decides to exchange identities with a worker killed in an accident, thus clearing the way for their union. He then travels abroad to seek forgetfulness in a Roman monastery. His wife marries the mill owner and they take a honeymoon voyage to Rome. There they encounter the former husband, who dies from the shock of the meeting.

Directed by Hugo Ballin and produced by Hugo Ballin Productions, starring his wife Mabel Ballin, this heavy melodrama remains a lost silent film.
