Sheriff Frank Moody has sworn to bring to justice a notorious bandit known only as The Raven, but, as he hunts for the unknown outlaw, circumstantial evidence and village gossip suggest that Henry Moody, the sheriff's kid brother, may be the bandit. Henry compounds his difficulties when he openly threatens the town banker, who has recently foreclosed on the Moody ranch. When the bank is robbed, the innocent Henry is arrested, given a hasty trial, and sentenced to be hanged. His identity hidden by the hangman's hood, Frank takes his brother's place on the scaffold, but at the last moment he is rescued by The Raven's men, who will not let an innocent man die. The sheriff captures The Raven, who turns out to be the bank manager, and Henry is cleared of all guilt.
