Sex & Nudity

  • No nudity or explicit sexuality. The saloon where one of the main character goes to out of sorrow is clearly a bordello, but this is never made explicit.

Violence & Gore

  • Several fist fights take place during the story. At the end, the protagonists put down a violent ship mutiny with fists, clubs, chains, and pistols. This action is intense (for its time) and takes several minutes of screen time. The female lead shoots and kills a few of the mutineers, and the male lead throws the leader of the mutiny to his death.

Profanity

  • In this silent film, neither the title cards nor the mouth movements would indicate any profanity.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Several minutes of the story take place in a saloon, with significant alcohol consumption. One of the main characters drinks alcohol at an abusive level in response to being spurned in love, and doing so leads to hallucinations.
