Renowned photographer and director Rankin has joined forces with Unicef to create a 60-second film highlighting the plight of children uprooted by war, poverty and disaster, especially those separated from their families as they become refugees.
Video: The labels we put on refugee & migrant children matter | Unicef
The thought-provoking video urges people to see past the refugee and migrant labels and value each child as a child, first and foremost, no matter where they’re from.
The film, set to Bastille’s poignant track ‘Four Walls’, depicts refugee and migrant children watching footage of children in danger around the world. Many of the children who are featured in the film are themselves refugees who have fled the horrors of war and are now trying to rebuild their lives. The film aims to challenge refugee stereotypes and prejudices by giving children a platform to express that they have the same hopes,...

UK duo Gorgon City have been steadily unleashing their Kingdom project over the last several months, an ambitious double album that the group has been dropping in installments. Part 1 was released in August, featuring songs like “All Four Walls,” “Blue Parrot” and “Zoom Zoom” with Wyclef Jean, while the duo began to unveil Kingdom Part 2 in September with the first single “Smile” featuring Elderbrook. Now, Belgian DJ The Magician is offering up his own rework of “Smile.”
Compared to the original song, The Magician opts to pick up the pace a bit and layer in a more intricate rhythmic backing. Four on the floor drums pound out a beat alongside echoed ambience and bubbly bass notes, crafting an upbeat backdrop for Elderbrook’s vocals to soar over. The remix offers up pristine melodies and uplifting vibes, which pair perfectly with the club friendly grooves.

Gorgon City have unveiled another track off their upcoming second album, teaming up with Haitian rapper Wyclef Jean on a new single titled “Zoom Zoom.” Following up on previous efforts like “All Four Walls,” and “Impaired Vision,” the duo’s latest effort serves as the fourth single for Kingdom, the first half of which is set to be released in August.
“Zoom Zoom” is a deep house cut infused with tribal elements, while Wyclef Jean’s distinctive vocals serve as a highlight throughout the single’s five minute run time. Ethereal synths and atmospheric samples open the song, gradually building up to the more dance oriented material. Layered percussion and four on the floor kicks then combine to give the song a world flavored rhythm, accompanied by a catchy bassline.
“Zoom Zoom” is more of an underground track than a straight banger, but there’s plenty of energy to satisfy club goers.

You can always depend on Gorgon City to deliver tasteful UK garage. Three weeks after releasing the official music video for “All Four Walls,” the English duo have returned with “Blue Parrot” – a track driven by a considerably more introspective groove than its festive title might suggest.
A brooding bass line meets with busy percussive elements to instill a markedly dissonant ambience in “Blue Parrot.” A solitary vocal sample rings out every several measures, fitting the track for circulation throughout dance music’s more subversive channels.
As for the title, Gorgon City revealed in an Instagram post that they drew inspiration from a Playa Del Carmen nightclub of the same name. It is one of several that will eventually come out on the duo’s upcoming album, Kindom.

There’s nothing quite like seeing an act like Gorgon City live, which appears to have been the thought process responsible for their latest video. The English garage duo just uploaded the official music video for their new track, “All Four Walls,” which is entirely made up of recordings from a recent performance.
The red-tinted layers of footage were taken from their show at the 02 Arena in London, for which they brought vocalist trio Vaults onstage. The resulting visuals make for an understated accompaniment to the actual music – which, in true Gorgon City fashion, speaks for itself.
Speaking of live shows, the duo recently announced that they will be touring alongside UK drum and bass outfit Rudimental in a tour across the Us. With any luck, some video footage from one of those performances will find its way into another music video.

The Walking Dead, Season 5, Episode 10: “Them”
Directed by Julius Ramsay
Written by Heather Bellson
Airs Sundays at 9pm Et on AMC
In “Four Walls and a Roof,” Gareth told Rick and co. “You’ve never really known what it is to starve.” As “Them” opens, we witness Maggie sitting and crying, and sipping her tears from her hand out of pure desperation. The group has seen lows, but now they’re realizing what it is to starve and to really go without anything to fend for and live on. The next scene pictures Daryl digging up grubs and eating them for lunch, completely oblivious to the group, who waits for something to swoop down and save them. Rick is the only individual certain of their abilities, but the time has come where even the militant Abraham is doubting how much further the group can go on.

3.9 The Eternity Injection
Hear that? It’s the sweet, purring sound of a TV show finally running at optimum performance.
Mid-way through a choppy season that’s got by more on the charisma of its cast and wit of its dialogue than either its plotting or character work, The Eternity Injection achieved a careful balance of all four. Its case was inventive, its plot was engaging, its performances were strong and its character development - which picked up the thread of Sherlock’s addiction with tender human insight - felt satisfying and real. In short, hurray for writer Craig Sweeny, who’s had a hand in almost every Elementary episode worth a damn since the show began.

“Holy S–––!” How many times have you uttered those words while watching season 5 of The Walking Dead? Most likely, a lot. Now, a good 50% of those profane utterances may have been due to the violence, which has been off the charts (as cast members Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus warned me it would be this year), but there’s something else about season 5. It’s not just the gore. Everything on the show seems to be operating on a different level — the characters, the story, the stakes. Put it all together and you have what could be shaping up to...

It’s about time they gave the audience a break. Since the cliffhanger ending to season four, with the group of rag-tag survivors trapped in a train car by another faction of zombie-killers who may or may not have been cannibals (Fyi they totally were, which was a weird relief), and the trailers promising more death and destruction than ever before. Then stuff sort of settled down after last week’s Four Walls And A Roof – relatively, anyway – and now for something completely different.
It’s time for a Beth solo episode! Remember Beth? Possibly not, since she’s been absent from the show since the latter half of The Walking Dead’s last season, where she got spirited away in a black car with a white cross on. Her on again/off again love interest Darryl tried his best to keep up but, awesome though he is, he...

It's a dark fairy tale this week in The Walking Dead. Here's our spoiler-filled review...

5.4 Slabtown
If you had told me in season two that some of the best episodes of The Walking Dead would prominently feature Carol and Beth, I would have thought you were a crazy person. After all, three seasons ago, Beth was cutting her wrists and lurking in the background of scenes like a ghostly-white female T-Dog, and Carol was pretty much waiting to be killed off in a cast change. How much things change in the course of a couple of seasons. Beth hasn't quite become a Carol, but she's become a useful member of the ensemble, thanks to Emily Kinney's singing voice and her chemistry with Norman Reedus in the excellent Still and Carol has pretty much been the Mvp of both season 4 and season 5.

Boardwalk Empire, Ep. 5.08: “Eldorado” leaves only the dust and ash of regret
That it seemed obvious for the series’ finale to send Nucky out was a bit of a given, considering the telegraphed nature of the flashback conceit which had been building for the entirety of this season. There were glimpses of hope, and chances for atonement but the clock had already run out by the time Nucky took his final stroll down the boardwalk…. click here to read the article.
‘Neverending Nightmares’ is truly neverending
Based on designer Matt Gilgenbach’s battle with obsessive-compulsive disorder and depression, Neverending Nightmares is a psychological horror game that amplifies feelings of unease through repetition in a minimalist setting. Personally, this was the most difficult game for me to finish because of the content. There were several moments when I just had to stop and seriously question whether or not I could feasibly finish the game.

“Nightmares end. They shouldn’t end who you are.”
After the first two episodes of The Walking Dead’s fifth season, it became apparent that we were building to a long, drawn-out conflict between our central group of survivors and Gareth’s band of merry maneaters, culminating in an epic showdown during the finale filled with violence and brutality, capping off the season
Wrong.
Instead, we got a resolution to the Terminus cannibal storyline after only one episode, and it’s become apparent that the showrunners have placed a new emphasis on pacing, seeing to it that the famously plodding show is moving through plotlines at a frenetic pace. Now we’ve been completely thrown for a loop and have far less of an idea what we in store for this season.
And that’s awesome.

In The Walking Dead comics, the story arc revolving around the cannibalistic hunters takes place only across a few issues of the series. Despite already knowing this fact, it’s still surprising that the TV show keeps the storyline brief as well. Joining us to discuss “Four Walls and a Roof” is special guest Jake Pitre.

Depending on how closely you follow AMC’s The Walking Dead, you’ve probably stumbled across a fair share of fan theories that stipulate the arc of Robert Kirkman’s post-apocalyptic world. How did this global pandemic start? Is there a patient zero? And, perhaps most enticingly, how will the story of Rick Grimes and co. end?
As you’d imagine, it’s the latter topic that gains the most traction across fan forums, with many people subscribing to the idea that Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes is, in fact, still in his coma. However, Kirkman took to Twitter to formally debunk the suggestion, stating that The Walking Dead and the events of the last five seasons are very real indeed.

“Nightmares end… but they don’t have to end who we are.” – Bob Though I didn’t expect Gareth and the fellow Terminus survivors to last the entire fourth season, the swiftness with which “Four Walls and a Roof” deals with this situation is impressive. More impressive, though, is the continued attention to character in “Four Walls and a Roof”, which continues to explore the malleable moralities of Rick and his group in comparison to those of Gareth and his – and surprisingly, The Walking Dead doesn’t try to come up with a definitive answer or position on what makes someone “good” or “bad” in this world. Instead of relying on strict, thin characterizations and simplistic philosophies, season five of The Walking Dead is wallowing in the dirt of post-apocalyptic humanity – and while it’s doing so, continues to solidify it’s position in the upper echelon of television dramas.

Four Walls and a Roof opens on a bleak and gruesome note. We see hordes of savage walkers anxious to get at human flesh and we see Gareth and his small band of misfits as they huddle around a fire still eating pieces of Bob whos clinging to life. Gareth launches into a monologue about the taste of human meat (apparently he prefers to chow on women) which is really rather repulsive and fans are getting a very very good opportunity to see how vile this skinny little shithead is.

So, it looks like I was wrong last week - Bob was bitten. Despite having both a zombie bite and missing a leg, it still took him a good 36 hours or so to die. I guess this is just another example of adjusting zombie lore to fit the needs of the story. It was a sweet death. I’m glad they killed Bob before he turned - seems respectful.
As Gareth and his crew munches on "shish kaBob," Gareth waxes poetic about their methods (“It was going to be a choice: join us or feed us”) and who tastes better (“I like the taste of women better and I think pretty people taste better, too”). He thinks he is being human to Bob. Bob starts laughing hysterically, shows off his bitten shoulder, and starts screaming “Tainted meat! Tainted meat!” Gareth’s crew freaks out, but Gareth is pretty sure they...

5.3 Four Walls And A Roof
One of the things that The Walking Dead has seemingly worked on in this short fifth season is its memory. There are a lot of moments that, in seasons past, might have been ignored. However, so far this season we've had mentions of Andrea, Hershel, and now Jim. If you don't remember Jim, he's the guy in the first season that went through a slow and painful death by infected zombie bite. It was one of the more interesting plots in the first season—though with the Cdc reveal it was rendered basically meaningless—and it was one of the few times we've seen a character mauled by a zombie and not immediately die.
This has immediate and important parallels to the story of Bob,...

The Termite problem reared its ugly head again on the latest episode of "The Walking Dead" Season 5, but despite losing his leg (to dinner), Bob proved he was no easy victim.
As the episode rolled out, there was an alpha male clash between Sgt. Abraham Ford and Rick Grimes that brought out the peacemaker in Glenn, a cat and mouse game with the Terminans, a sad goodbye, and at the end, a twist involving one missing member of the group.
Here's our recap of "The Walking Dead" Season 5, Episode 3, "Four Walls and a Roof":

After some debate, Rick decided the group would head to Washington, DC, to help Abraham complete his mission. Meanwhile, Daryl and Carol took off after the person who grabbed Beth last season, and Bob was abducted by Gareth and the Terminus survivors because "a man's gotta eat."

Rick and company have discovered a temporary safe haven in Father Gabriel’s church, but they are not the only survivors in the walker-infested wilderness and it looks like things will take a dark turn in episode 3. Get a tease of the difficulties and distrust to come with these photos and preview clip:
“Season Four of “The Walking Dead” ended with Rick and the group outgunned, outnumbered, and trapped in a train car awaiting a grim fate.
Season Five picks up shortly thereafter. What follows is a story that weaves the true motives of the people of Terminus with the hopeful prospect of a cure in Washington, D.C., the fate of the group’s lost comrades, as well as new locales, new conflicts, and new obstacles in keeping the group together and staying alive.
Stories will break apart and intersect. The characters will find love and hate. Peace and conflict.

Every week, members of the Vulture staff will highlight their favorite new songs. They might be loud, quiet, long, short, dance-y, rawkin', hip, square, rap, punk, jazz, some sort of jazz-punk-rap fusion — whatever works for the given person in that given week. Read our picks below and please tell us yours in the comments. (Also, read our music critic Lindsay Zoladz's write-up about this week's best new albums from Tinashe, Caribou, and Ex Hex.) Enjoy! AlunaGeorge, "Supernatural" I still have “White Noise” and “You Know You Like It” on heavy rotation, and they've been out for years now, so imagine my excitement when AlunaGeorge finally released new music. It has that Daft Punk–robot vibe and lyrics about magic and space travel, but it is Aluna Francis’s haunting voice that makes this song. —Marcus Jones (@MJinMD) Broods, "Four Walls" The Broods album, Evergreen, is finally out, on Spotify as...
