Rain Four Star Movie WAY AHEAD of its Time

First, I would like to say the review by Richard Fuller below is ridiculous. This movie came out in 1932!!! How can you compare MTV and the Laverne and Shirley Show to a movie that was released years before those shows were even thought of!! It just proves that Joan Crawford was a pioneer for things to come. Her acting in this movie was the best she had done up until that point in her career and she took on a role that was considered risqué for that time period. The story line would work in a film in the present time but in 1932 it was too taboo and was a bomb at the box-office...today Rain is hailed as one of the best films to come out of the 1930's. Joan Crawford gives a stellar performance as Sadie Thompson...also her makeup in the movie was supposed to be over the top to contrast her character at the end when she strips herself of all makeup to actually reveal the stunning beauty Crawford possessed at that time. I highly recommend this movie!!!!
