The horse is dead. Stop betting on it.

Warning: Spoilers
I guess even race horses have lookalikes which is revealed when someone takes the mold out of a horse's mouth to a vet who actually has xrays of the dead horse's mouth. So another horse has been put in its place which causes fraud and investigator Paul Kelly is out to expose the crime which results in the kidnapping of his secretary Julie Bishop (then known as Jacqueline Wells) by a gambling syndicate. It's a confusing story with criminal elements so convoluted that only someone who specializes in that kind of law would completely understand it.

Fortunately, it's a short little Columbia B movie with stereotypical dumb lugs (the type you only see at a racetrack in the movies), a bit of light comedy (the man with the plaster horse mouth indicates that it's not an imprint of his own mouth) and a lot of tough talk resulting in an action packed conclusion. This isn't as colorful as films based on Damon Runyeon stories so it lacks the atmosphere and sardonic humor. A quick time filler that isn't great, not horrible, but just blah.
