A remake of 1930's "The Texan" with Gary Cooper, but writer Oliver Drake "borrowed" the plot for 1933's "Gun Law" with Jack Hoxie and 1935's "Cyclone Ranger" with Bill Cody, and Earle Snell also "wrote" a semi-version of it for a 1943 "Three Mesquiteers" entry, "Gauchos of El Dorado" for Republic: John and Lora Travers save the Llano Kid from arrest for a stagecoach robbery and induce him to leave Texas and come to Mexico to impersonate the missing son of Donna Teresa Ibarra. Travers is the manager of the Ibarra rancho and the plan is for the three of them to seize control, although the Travers also have plans to later cut the Kid out. The latter comes under the influence of Donna Teresa and Lupita Sandoval and eventually refuses to go through with the plot. When Travers tries to carry out the plan, the Kid and Sheriff McLane pair together and defeat Travers and his henchmen. The sheriff feels that the Kid's redemption is complete and gives him his freedom.
