US Army war propaganda film in B&W
Oo-chee-26 July 2006
Here is hoping this is the one my jr. high geography teacher subjected us to every year. It was a great US Army propaganda film. Painted the Russian peoples as very friendly to the USA, but did not talk much about Uncle Joe. Has those great animations where the black arrows for the Nazis are advancing over maps of the European continents. And the white arrows of the Allied forces and time zones and other info. Made during WWII, it was conveniently buried during the Cold War. Some great footage from Russia of locations and such. The big staged scene of the long line of peoples in native attire marching through the wheat fields makes a striking images. With a script that seems a hoot today, this was a serious effort to make the US public feel better about having Russia as a partner in the war. It has been so long, but I don't believe any mention of Communism is made in the film.
