Anacronismos: The revolvers employed by many of the characters all date from after the American Civil War (1861-1865). The film is set between the Battle of the Alamo (February/March 1836) and the Battle of San Jacinto (April, 1836).

For serious Western buffs

Lesser know '50s Western from one of the best directors in that genre. DVD review.

The only "survivor" from The Alamo massacre (Ford) hunts down the killers of his family.

Fast-paced (and short) colour Western that starts off with the Alamo attack and then tells the story of Ford and his search for the killers of his wife. There's a great scene when one of the townsfolk discovers that Ford was the "coward" of The Alamo and calls everyone over. They then try to lynch him! Is this movie a Western version of those '50s sci-fi communist-paranoia pictures? Reminds me of many fast-paced Westerns from the '40s. What's also good is how Ford has to defend himself to everyone because they all have the same negative mentality. A similar theme was also covered in The Man From Laramie. I would rank this fine Western as just below classic status as it appears more of a routine studio movie than the director's later work from the same decade. Strange ending where the story stops just as it was getting interesting.

The Man From The Alamo is a movie for serious movie fans.
