Although the program was nominated for a primetime Emmy, this was actually a daytime children's program. Daytime Emmys did not exist back then.
In September 1955, Lee, having been in poor health, collapsed from exhaustion during a live show. The crew initially assumed it was an ad-libbed act, as did the live audience of cheering children. This marked the end of Lee's presence on the show, and rumors that he'd died of a heart attack circulated for decades.
