Nicky and Tacy buy a new 1953 Mercury to pull the long, long trailer, but during the hill-climbing scene it is the larger '53 Lincoln. In one shot rounding a curve, the distinctly different grill of the Lincoln can be seen clearly.
In the scene where Nicky and Tacy are having their dinner in their trailer in the rain, Tacy brings a bottle of Chianti (a dark red wine) to the table. You can clearly see the coloring through the bottle. When she pours the wine it has changed both in the bottle, and in the glasses to a white wine.
In the interior scene when Nicky and Tacy first look at the "New Moon" trailer at the trailer show, Tacy sits down in the living room next to Nicky twice.
In the final scene, Tacy is completely dry in the trailer. Yet immediately after going outside to run after Nicky, she is shown completely drenched from head to toe.
In the scene where the "ladies" are stocking the trailer, Nicky opens the pantry door and you see a dust broom in the door. When the door swings closed and opens again the broom is gone.
When Nicky is talking to the man in the trailer park office at the beginning of the movie, the man is talking about Nicky's trailer and that "the lady says it's only gone some 7,000 miles." That would be impossible because you would have to drive from Los Angeles to Bangor, Maine and back to have that much mileage on a new trailer. Nicky and Tacy mainly stayed in the western USA and were on their way to Colorado.
Obvious stunt double wearing sunglasses when the car rounds the corner and knocks a few rocks over the edge.
Nicky is covered with mud when he is trying to jack up the trailer on the old logging road but in the next scene, he is cleaned up. The trailer had no access to water or utilities.
Tacy falls into the mud on the old logging road and is covered, head to toe, with mud. The next day she is sitting in the car at the gas station, clean as could be. That would be hard to explain since the couple was stuck in the trailer during a rainstorm all night with no water or utilities.
As the 53 New Moon trailer begins the climb up the mountain, the crew is reflected in the side of the trailer as it passes by.
Nicky and Tacy are going from LA to Colorado. Northbound on US 101 would put the Pacific Ocean on your left. Scenes with the ocean show it on their right.
On the first day out, Nicky tells Tacy to find Highway 101
which for the most part run near the coast. She says she's found it and points to it on the map, but she's pointed to US 99, which goes up the Central Valley.
One of Tacy's souvenir rocks was from Bridge of the Gods, she said. This is along the Oregon/Washington border along the Columbia between Portland and Tri-Cities. A very roundabout route between Southern California and Colorado.
The highway map used is a map of Minnesota.
Near the beginning of the film, when Tacy and Nicky are shopping for their trailer, the shadow of a boom mic is clearly visible on the white refrigerator behind the salesman as they are exiting the model trailer.
In the scene where the trailer falls off the jack in the rainstorm, Lucille Ball (as Tacy) calls "Ricky" instead of his character's name "Nicky".
In the scene where Nicky gives Uncle Edgar (Walter Baldwin) back the anniversary present, her uncle calls him "Ricky" and not "Nicky."
During the closing scenes, Mrs. Tewitt parks her car by the office where Desi is waiting for Lucy. In the closing shot where Lucy and Desi embrace and the camera pulls away, the car seems to be missing. However, just as the screen fades to black for the closing credits, the right front corner of Mrs. Tewitt's car is visible in the lower left corner of the screen.
The salesman quoted the total down payment as $1,932.22. This was incorrect (too low) as the down payment consisted of 1/3 of the $5,345 sales price ($1,763.85) plus $160 sales tax and $73 for registration and insurance. The correct total would have been $1,996.85, a difference of $64.63. Even using Tacy's stated down payment of $1,750, this would have resulted in a down payment of $1,983.00.
