I remember Candid Camera, hosted by Alan Funt, at a time when there was no social media, no internet, no VCRs (not even beta!), but just the big networks. Candid Camera was funny, well the premise was, but I sometimes wondered about the logistics of the camera(s) being hidden from the unwitting participants. Because really back then, the cameras were very large, so how fake were the walls to hide the camera, and the holes for the camera to peer through so the unwitting participants couldn't see it?

I'd love for a reboot of Candid Camera with webcams and all, and social media to back it all up.

The unsuspecting person is always funnier than the actor.

Why was Candid Camera such a great show? Because when it comes down to laughing at people it's not watching a performance in a stage play or a movie or a TV show it's watching them in the act of being themselves. The show is still on and still great to watch but the originals with the Candid Cameraman himself Allen Funt are still the best.
