Trivialidades:

Zero Mostel and Jack Gilford reprised their roles from the original Broadway production. Phil Silvers had been offered the role of Psuedolus on Broadway, but turned it down because he couldn't wear his glasses, and feared an onstage accident. Silvers went on to play Psuedolus in a 1972 revival.

Errores:

Continuidad: In Lycus' house after Captain Miles Gloriosus and his soldiers arrive, one of the soldiers gets up and chases a girl. On the way he passes a juggler who use apples for balls and the soldier tries to catch one of the apples in mid-air. He fails to catch it but acts as if he did until he exits the shot. In the following shot he holds the "uncaught" apple in his mouth.

COMEDY TONIGHT

Hilarious and well-done

Despite having some mistakes, I think this film is overall great, specially in comedy terms. Crazy, dynamic and modern spirit of Lester's direction fits more or less well into "A funny thing happened on the way to the forum"(not as well as it did in "The Knack" or "A Hard Day's Night, but very well anyway). Zero Mostel seems to be a little-bit repressed by Lester, but he does a great job, as the rest of the cast. The beautiful colour photography, some funny songs and a funny storyline with a lot of hilarious visual and verbal jokes makes this a really funny picture. The chariot scene, and with it, all the end of the movie is memorable. Don't miss it.
