After Walt Disney's death, the new Disney management passed on the film. Len Janson persuaded Chuck Jones, who was working at MGM Visual Arts, to screen the film to MGM Executives. MGM picked up the film for distribution and released it in 1967.
Filmed in 1966 and shot mostly in Griffith Park in San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County, California.
A scene from the movie is included in the twenty-second "Extras" montage on Turner Classic Movies. The montage is frequently shown prior to short films that air on the network.
Made by Len Janson and Chuck Menville, while both were working at Walt Disney Productions as in-betweeners on The Jungle Book (1967). The cast consists of other Disney artists including John Kimball, Dave Brain, Bob Richardson, Milton Gray, and others, all of whom also worked on The Jungle Book.
