The lack of colors!! The lack of colors!!
Mark_D-226 October 1999
"The Weird World of LSD" is one of those anti-drug films that, like "Reefer Madness" and "Marihuana", purport to warn the audience away from drug use, while at the same time sensationalizing it's subject for all they can. Episodic in nature, the film shows the effects of LSD on various people (sans dialogue; the whole movie is narrated). Not all of the "trips" taken are negative, making one wonder just what the producer's aim was. But the most striking aspect of the film is that it was filmed in black and white. Apparently the film's budget didn't include enough money for color stock, but wouldn't you think that a movie about LSD could hardly be made without it?? Strange.

Drop out man

Warning: Spoilers
I thought LSD was going to make me see the gods that live beyond the wall of sleep and wait for us to notice us and then drive man mad, but instead this movie taught me that I'll just think I'm a chicken, play with cats or eat a ham sandwich, which are all things I do just about every day without needing to take any drugs.

Fog, so much fog. Chocolate blood. So many stripteases. Are acid trips really in black and white? Rubber masks. Mannequins. How is this made in Tampa - I think - and no one from a Herschell Gordon Lewis movie shows up?

This is under an hour and feels like four and I think that should tell you what LSD is all about.

Nice poster, though.

The 60s equivalent of Reefer Madness.
Horror Fan21 February 1999
Teens take LSD, have horrifying halucinations, and then die. Like Reefer Madness, this convinced me not to take drugs and I survived teen years. This is also very weird and sixties. If you're a fan of this type of stuff, this is for you!
