• Father Guru : I'm sorry. I don't know what I can do to help. You know as well as I do that once the decision of the court is handed down, the death sentence is final. It is then my job to take care of the last rites of the church and ease the poor devil's souls.

  Carl : Please, Father. You must help me. I've never asked you for a favor before. If you help me this once, I will do anything for you in return.

  Father Guru : You love her very much?

  Carl : With all my body and soul.

  Father Guru : With your body perhaps, but not your soul. You soul belongs to God.

  Carl : I can't even believe that there is a God who lets things like this happen...

  Father Guru : [slaps Carl]  Don't say that! Don't ever say that in my presence again!

• Father Guru : There is a way I can help. It is a very slim chance and I cannot guarantee it will work, but I could give it to her with the last rites.

  Carl : What?

  Father Guru : A potion.

  Carl : I don't understand.

  Father Guru : I could give her a potion with some wine as part of the last rites. After a while she will faint and it will seem as if her heart has given out. They will put her body on a cart and take it away for burial to the local cemetery behind the church and they will leave it there overnight with the other bodies. That is when you must act quickly. As soon as they have left the cemetery, you must bring her back to me. The potion only works for a short time. If she does not receive the antidote soon, she will surely die. After I revive her, you can take her away from here and she will be yours forever.

  Carl : Thank you! How can I ever repay you?

  Father Guru : Your promise is my pay.
