Uneven but entertaining Black Comedy with diverting moments and great main and support cast

The Martínez marriage moves to a flat at a new suburb . The husband called Mario : José Luis López Vázquez is really dominated by his wife Amparo : Maria José Alfonso , as he sees only one chance to release from her . Sending his bossy wife to sleep with pill doses. While his wife Amparo is sleeping he uses his recovered freedom and becomes friend his charming neighbour Encarnacion : Lina Canalejas, and subsequently falling i love for her . Along the way, Mario is mercilessly pursued by another neighbour :Lali Soldevilla who dressed in bride chases him here and there.

A Black Comedy with usual ingredients such as disconcerting incidents, twisted meses and hilarious set pieces. This is a silly comedy , containing some ridiculous remarks , non-sense scenes and surrealist events as well. In "Duerme, Duerme Mi Amor" 1974 stands out the stunning acting by the always great José Luis López Vázquez as the unfortunate husband who is besieged and harassed by his wife finely interpreted by Maria Jose Alfonso , by an idiot neighbour performed by Lali Soldevilla, and the nutty, grumpy porter nicely performed by Rafael Aparicio.

This motion picture with atmospheric cinematography by Raul Perez Cubero, was professionally directed by Francisco Regueiro, though it has some faults, resulting to be a little bit boring . Regueiro was born in 1934 in Valladolid , Castilla y León, Spain. He is a prestigious writer and director , known for Padre Nuestro 1985 , Madregilda 1993 , and El Buen Amor 1963 thas was heavily censored. He belonged to the New Spanish Cinema generation along with some good directors. The notorious producer Elías Querejeta produced him some movies, such as : "Si Volvemos a Vernos" or Smashing up and "Cartas de Amor de un Asesino". After that, he made Documentary , TV series as "Cuentos y Leyendas : La Niña que se convirtió en Rata" . Regueiro along with Angel Fernández Santos wrote a trilogy about parents-descendants relationships . The first was "Padre Nuestro" 1985 from a religious view point , it continued with "Diario de Invierno" and the third : "Madregilda" that regards a complex political plot about Francisco Franco . Duerme, duerme mi amor, rating : 5.5/10. Acceptable and passable. Only for Jose Luis Lopez Vazquez fans.
