This article contains spoilers for the Oct. 10 episode of “Dancing With the Stars.”
Singer Jason Mraz who was tied at the top of the leaderboard last week, earned the first “9”s of the season on Tuesday night’s “Dancing With the Stars.” Later in the show, “Vanderpump Rules” star Ariana Madix, who danced in flats due to a possible unrevealed injury, was shocked to also be given two “9”s and two “8” scores.
Mraz and partner Daniella Karagach shook it up for Motown Night with a spirited Jive to “Do You Love Me” by The Contours. Carrie Ann Inaba called it “brilliant,” while Derek Hough raved that Mraz made the dance look “effortless.” Tonioli gushed that it was “like watching a scene from a movie.”
Motown Night saw extra points for everyone as “The $100,000 Pyramid” host Michael Strahan joined as a guest judge.

The Creatives – the Fremantle-backed alliance of 10 leading production companies – have shared the results of the first edition of “The Creative Connection” at the Venice Film Festival.
The companies – which include Lemming Film (Locarno premiere “Sweet Dreams”), Versus Production (Venice’s “Through the Night”), Maipo Film (“Elling”), Razor Film, Komplizen Film (“Spencer”), Spiro (“Foxtrot”), Unité (“Salem”), Haut et Court (“Perfect Days”), Masha (“No Man’s Land”) and Good Chaos (“Triangle of Sadness”) – invited writers and producers to join forces over the course of three workshops.
“Some of [the writers] were surprised we are actually normal people,” joked Haut et Court’s Carole Scotta during a panel at the Venice Production Bridge on Sunday. “We want to create a safe space for the writers to be able to work freely.”
Called “Inspiration,” “Brainstorming” – a series of experimental exercises led by Le Groupe Ouest – and “Collaboration,” the workshops took place in France, Greece and Germany. They...

Maipo Film, the leading Norwegian banner behind “Heirs of the Night” and “Lykkeland,” has teamed up with Tel Aviv-based Spiro Films (“When Heroes Fly”) to develop “Blindspot,” a thought-provoking series about the enigmatic Lillehammer case of 1973.
The gripping series unfolds in the aftermath of the tragic Munich Massacre, when a group of Mossad agents were dispatched to Lillehammer with the mission to eliminate Ali Hassan Salameh, the leader of the Black September organization. But upon their arrival, the agents mistakenly identified Ahmed Bouchikhi, a Moroccan waiter, as their intended target. On the evening of July 21, just a day after the misidentification, the Mossad agents carried out the assassination before Bouchikhi’s pregnant wife, ending an innocent life. What was initially intended as a swift and covert operation for the Mossad soon transformed into a political nightmare.

What makes AFI Fest different from other high-profile festivals is also what makes it essential: Its programmers don’t care about premiere status. Each edition of the annual gathering tends to feature just a few, often on the first and last nights of the weeklong event, though there have been exceptions — 2014 saw back-to-back surprise debuts of both “American Sniper” and “Selma” on the same night.

Barring any last-minute additions, this year leans in the opposite direction. The only world premiere scheduled was Ridley Scott’s “All the Money in the World,” which initially received pride of place as the closing-night gala; because the film starred Kevin Spacey before he was replaced with Christopher Plummer at the last minute, it’s since been pulled from the schedule. Opening night, meanwhile, begins with a movie that premiered...

Screen investigates which films from around the world could launch on the Croisette, including on opening night.
With just over a month to go before the line-up for this year’s Cannes Film Festival is unveiled in Paris, Croisette predictions and wish lists are hitting the web thick and fast.
Screen’s network of correspondents and contributors around the world have been putting out feelers to get a sense of what might or might not make it to the Palais du Cinéma or one of the parallel sections.
Just like the Oscars, this year’s festival is likely to unfold amid a politically-charged atmosphere. Beyond Trump and the rise of populism across the globe, France will be digesting the result of its own presidential election on May 7. Against this background, the festival will be feting its 70th edition.
Below, Screen reveals which titles might - and might not - be in the running for a place at the...
