The band Blue Sky Riders has had a fabulous month. From two performances at the famed Sundance Festival to an appearance on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno, the members of Blue Sky Riders are set to soar with the release of their highly anticipated full-length debut album, "Finally Home," hitting stores and available via digital retailers as of today, January 29. And the group is basking in glowing reviews, with The New York Times saying “The three songwriters have found an unusually comfortable fit.”
Those three songwriters include the iconic two-time Grammy winner Kenny Loggins, Nashville songwriter Georgia Middleman (who has penned songs for Keith Urban, Faith Hill and Kenny Chesney, among others) and award-winning songwriter Gary Burr. Over the course of their new record, the trio say they merge rock, pop and country into a collection of 15 songs, with each veteran singing lead vocals.
Loggins clearly considers Blue Sky Riders his third act.

Our own Huff/Post50 bloggers Kenny Loggins, Georgia Middleman and Gary Burr of the Blue Sky Riders made an appearance on "Good Day New York" Tuesday morning as a part of their summer tour.
The group performed their single "Dream": a poignant choice since it was one of the earliest songs the three wrote together. "Dream" was written as a response to nay-sayers who thought Loggins, Middleman and Burr were "too old to start over."
"It keeps the juice going, you know, it keeps you feeling vital and alive," Loggins said of his decision to embark on a new adventure with the Blue Sky Riders despite an already well-established legacy of hit songs such as "Footloose." "For me, anyway, I know I have to be creative to feel good. And I wanted to get back into the heat of building a new act and writing new music."

Call this Chapter 3 of Kenny Loggins' musical life. Typically, music-makers leave bands to try their luck as break-out soloists. In the case of two-time Grammy winner Loggins, he's the salmon swimming upstream: He already has the lucrative career as a solo artist and now he's formed a band with Nashville singer-songwriters Gary Burr and Georgia Middleman.
World, meet the Blue Sky Riders.
After 30 years of being his own boss, the 64-year-old Loggins -- who began his career as part of the iconic duo of Loggins and Messina -- says he just knew in his gut that it was time for a reinvention. Why? The "juice" was gone, he said. "I just didn't know what to write about anymore."
Scary words from the man who brought us such hits as "Celebrate Me Home" and "Footloose." And would the 70s have been the same without Loggins and Messina's "Angry Eyes" or...

Kenny Loggins recorded so many successful songs for film soundtracks that he was referred to as, King of the Movie Soundtrack. He began with “I’m Alright”, “Mr. Night”, and “Lead the Way” from Caddyshack. Hits followed with “Footloose” and “I’m Free (Heaven Helps the Man)” from Footloose; “Meet Me Halfway” from Over the Top; and “Danger Zone” and “Playing With the Boys” from Top Gun and the list goes on.
In two new Funny or Die videos, Loggins embraces his legacy with his new band Blue Sky Riders and Paul Scheer, performing theme songs to The Help, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Real Steel, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, The Hunger Games and two for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Listen up, children, and hear of a time when the giants of music wrote awesome guitar-driven theme songs to all the best movies. This era was called "The '80s," and its king was Kenny Loggins, who wrote and performed timeless classics like "Highway to the Danger Zone" from "Top Gun" and "Footloose" from...well, some movie or other.
With many movie soundtracks languishing in the licensed songs pit of despair, we think the time is ripe for a Loggins revival, and so does Funny or Die.
The site has a pair of videos in which we see the now-aged (but, apparently, sense-of-humor-possessing) Loggins, with his new band, Blue Sky Riders, knock out tracks from some high-profile current films, including "The Help," "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1," and "Real Steel." The second of the two, embedded below, actually puts the songs over footage of the films in questions, and...

In the 1980s, Kenny Loggins was the king of the movie soundtrack. The soft rocker did the theme songs to Top Gun (Danger Zone), Caddyshack (I'm Alright), Footloose (Footloose) and more over a few short years in addition to being a very successful solo and group artist. To this day, those songs both help and hinder the career of Loggins and in a two new Funny or Die videos, he embraces their legacy. After the jump, watch Loggins and his new band Blue Sky Riders performing theme songs to The Help, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Real Steel, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, The Hunger Games and two for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. With a little help from Paul Scheer of course. Thanks to Funny or Die [1] for these videos. In this first video you'll see The Help, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
