The helicopter seen in this production is a rather rare Hughes 300 also known as the Hughes 269. For the US military these were named the TH-55 Osage. The maiden flight was in October 1956 and production ceased in 1983.
It is possible that the train station and train footage were shot in Tomahawk, WI, since there are no railroad tracks anywhere near Gleason. The studio The Shooting Ranch, where the interiors were shot, was owned by director Bill Rebane. It was torn down sometime in the 1980s. In the final credits it thanks the town of Tomahawk and Lincoln County for their cooperation.
First screened in a sneak preview in Green Bay, WI, on 10/5/77.
