The screenplay was written by director Herb Freed and his wife, Anne Marisse, and was inspired by a series of repressed memories Freed experienced after his wife witnessed a car accident.
The one song in the film (credited as "Father, I Long" and copyrighted by Art Podell and Herb Freed in Far-Gone Nigen Publishing 1975) is actually a re-arrangement of the old hymn "Farther Along" which has many disputed authors and is in the public domain.
