Filming is officially underway on the set of Jurassic World 2, but Universal’s monstrous sequel has still found room in its ranks for one more addition: Geraldine Chaplin.
Known for her award-winning performances across Doctor Zhivago, Welcome to L.A. and Roseland, Chaplin is one of the many daughters of legendary silent film actor Charlie Chaplin, and has since become something of a good-luck charm for writer-director Juan Antonio Bayona in recent times. To date, the prolific actress has appeared in all three of Bayona’s feature films – namely The Orphanage, The Impossible, A Monster Calls – and now, Jurassic World 2 will take that streak to four. Little is known about Chaplin’s actual role in the 2018 sequel, but with production underway, expect more details to emerge online sooner rather than later.
Indeed there’s a similar veil of secrecy currently clouding Jurassic World 2‘s actual storyline. Early reports claim co-writers Colin Trevorrow...

Teresa Wright ca. 1945. Teresa Wright movies on TCM: 'The Little Foxes,' 'The Pride of the Yankees' Pretty, talented Teresa Wright made a relatively small number of movies: 28 in all, over the course of more than half a century. Most of her films have already been shown on Turner Classic Movies, so it's more than a little disappointing that TCM will not be presenting Teresa Wright rarities such as The Imperfect Lady and The Trouble with Women – two 1947 releases co-starring Ray Milland – on Aug. 4, '15, a "Summer Under the Stars" day dedicated to the only performer to date to have been shortlisted for Academy Awards for their first three film roles. TCM's Teresa Wright day would also have benefited from a presentation of The Search for Bridey Murphy (1956), an unusual entry – parapsychology, reincarnation – in the Wright movie canon and/or Roseland (1977), a little-remembered entry in James Ivory's canon.

Teresa Wright: Later years (See preceding post: "Teresa Wright: From Marlon Brando to Matt Damon.") Teresa Wright and Robert Anderson were divorced in 1978. They would remain friends in the ensuing years.[1] Wright spent most of the last decade of her life in Connecticut, making only sporadic public appearances. In 1998, she could be seen with her grandson, film producer Jonah Smith, at New York's Yankee Stadium, where she threw the ceremonial first pitch.[2] Wright also became involved in the Greater New York chapter of the Als Association. (The Pride of the Yankees subject, Lou Gehrig, died of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis in 1941.) The week she turned 82 in October 2000, Wright attended the 20th anniversary celebration of Somewhere in Time, where she posed for pictures with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. In March 2003, she was a guest at the 75th Academy Awards, in the segment showcasing Oscar-winning actors of the past. Two years later,...

Teresa Wright and Matt Damon in 'The Rainmaker' Teresa Wright: From Marlon Brando to Matt Damon (See preceding post: "Teresa Wright vs. Samuel Goldwyn: Nasty Falling Out.") "I'd rather have luck than brains!" Teresa Wright was quoted as saying in the early 1950s. That's understandable, considering her post-Samuel Goldwyn choice of movie roles, some of which may have seemed promising on paper.[1] Wright was Marlon Brando's first Hollywood leading lady, but that didn't help her to bounce back following the very public spat with her former boss. After all, The Men was released before Elia Kazan's film version of A Streetcar Named Desire turned Brando into a major international star. Chances are that good film offers were scarce. After Wright's brief 1950 comeback, for the third time in less than a decade she would be gone from the big screen for more than a year.

I didn’t know Christopher Walken had danced in so many movies but it’s a good thing he has otherwise we wouldn’t have this great supercut to show you. He had the moves in Fatboy Slim’s Weapon of Choice video [watch it here] but put them all together with his movies and it’s something special.
Fyi: Walken initially trained as a musical theater dancer at the Washington Dance Studio.

Sure, Christopher Walken is one of his generation's most versatile thespians, with a distinctive speaking voice that could make a wolverine purr. But, as any true Walken disciple knows, the man's greatest strength is his smooth-as-silk dancing.
Whether he's gracefully frolicking around in a music video (the Spike Jonze-directed clip for Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice") or randomly hamming it up on the big screen (as he did in classics like Pulp Fiction, The Deer Hunter and the undisputed comedy masterpiece Wayne's World 2), Walken's got serious skills.

Christopher Walken has danced his way into our hearts and onto our screens for the past five decades. Now, the internet has blessed us with a supercut of all his moves. The actor, who initially trained as a dancer in music theatre at the Washington Dance Studio, famously showed off his moves in Fatboy Slim's 2001 music video “Weapon of Choice.” In the below clip, a mash-up by Huffington Post Entertainment, Walken's moves are instead backed by C+C Music Factory's “Everybody Dance Now.” Walken complies. On this March 31, 67 years ago, Ronald Walken was born in Astoria, Queens. Of course, we all know him better as Christopher Walken. The revered actor has appeared in over 100 projects, with a career spanning an impressive 57 years, his unique style and elocution making him an unforgettable inclusion to the cinematic map.
In honor of his birthday, I thought it would be fun to think back over his 50+ years of work, and chat about the performances that stick with us -- our favorite moments of wacky Walken, serious Walken, scary Walken, and definitely dancing Walken. With the woes of typecasting, it might be harder to remember these days, but the man has got range. He's tugged at our hearts playing Nick in The Deer Hunter, danced a good jig as Russel doing The Hustle in Roseland, faced James Bond in A View to a Kill, dedicated himself to a watch in Pulp Fiction,...

Character actor and comedian who specialised in Jewish roles
Portly, balding, twinkly-eyed and sporting a moustache, Lou Jacobi, who has died aged 95, believed that he "had the look of everybody's favourite Uncle Max". Although Jacobi had been acting since he was 12, he was the sort of character actor that one could never imagine being young. He was born in the Jewish section of Toronto, Canada, and started performing as a child in the Yiddish theatre in a play called The Rabbi and the Priest, in which he was a violin prodigy. He went on to specialise in Jewish roles, both comic and dramatic, lending them that particular intonation and body language of which he was a master.
In the 1940s, Jacobi worked as a stand- up comic at holiday resorts in Muskoka, north of Toronto, a vacation spot popular with Jewish holidaymakers. He was also cast in Spring Thaw (1949), which...
