Dudu V: Unceremoniously replaced by a robot
unbrokenmetal21 August 2018
The last of five movies director Rudolf Zehetgruber made about a yellow Volkswagen beetle with many gadgets. However, the famous Dudu is trashed after only a few minutes at the beginning of this movie. It's a shame! A kind of spider robot with an annoying beepy voice becomes the new companion of El Guancho (played by Zehetgruber himself), obviously in the wake of the 'Star Wars' mania of the late seventies. Guancho and his robot are fighting various gangsters including Hidalgo (Brad Harris) and Alfonso (veteran western actor Fernando Sancho).

Even if the last sequel is a total disappointment, they managed again to find great locations: shot on the Canary Islands (mostly Lanzarote, partly Gran Canaria, I would guess from my own visits there). Anyhow, it would have been nice to get an actual story beyond a couple of standard chases around a (yawn) gold treasure. In opposite to the previous movies, they didn't even manage to install interesting female characters. I voted 4-7-6-5-3 for the five movies.

West German Fun Movie with Brad HARRIS
ZeddaZogenau9 March 2024
When the films in the Dudu series were shown on the holiday program of the West German television station ZDF in the early 1980s, it was always a big deal.

This totally unsuccessful fifth and final part gives Dudu the well-deserved coup de grace of scrapping after just a quarter of an hour. After that, things continue uninspired on Lanzarote.

Director Rudolf Zehetgruber was once again able to attract the first guard of Italian-European trash films to the Canary Islands with Sal Borgese, Herbert Fux and Fernando Sancho. But even the appearance of action legend Brad Harris as the main villain Don Fernando can't save this trash film.

Some childhood memories are better left alone.

Funny movie with robot crab
c118 October 2004
I remember watching this as a kid on some Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles, most likely on a local network. I saw it dubbed in English, the dubbing was funny, almost like a kung-fu movie.

The best parts of the movie included any time the robot crab would complain to the star of the movie, "El Guancho" as played by Rud Rittberg, in a tinny, metallic robotic voice more suited to a 1950's sci-fi movie.

I wish I could remember more of what the story was about, but I do remember it was cheesy action/drama/comedy.

I would love to see it again just to relive an old memory.

To much EXPLOITATION
NeutronChicken2 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As a child, I devoured all the DUDU movies. The last one is not a real DUDU movie, the beetle is destroyed right at the beginning, Jim Bondi's partner is now a mobster and fights him. Don't misunderstand, this is about 'EXPLOITATION', but then that's a little too much even for a fan of the DUDU series.

Zehetgruber's last superbug-flick!
payoguiri29 April 2006
Warning: Spoilers
**CONTAINS SPOILERS**

"Zwei tolle räumen auf" was shot in ihe island of Lanzarote, Spain. And tells the story of "El Guancho" (maybe allusion to "Guanche", the natives from the canary islands) who was part of some kind of soldier of fortune team who stole a lot of money from a Sicilian clan! then the money is supposed to be hided in Lanzarote by a German Major who killed all the soldiers except of the drunken "El Guancho" (the Jimmy Bondie of the other dudu-films!)

20 years later, when the story takes place, "Guancho" is a Golf assistant of Don Fernando (Brad Harris!), the richest man of the island! But the Itallian Mafia return to Lanzarote like the old Mayor, all searching for the stolen money...things become interesting! In this movie Dudu is destroyed at the beginning during a Crash-Ralley, that means dudu looses his body and is now a little car with six wheels!!!! Gauncho also built the speaking robotic crab "Pitchu" which is the golf ball collector.

On the whole the movie a mixture of old scenes of the other bug films and new ones shot in Lanzarote! Brad Harris acts like usual, but without fighting! Sal Borgese turns from Jimmy Bondies partner in the other dudu-movies, to one of the bad mafia guys. The film always swings between a serious adventure film and poor slapstick! But is a must-see for all Dudu-lovers!
