Trivialidades for
They All Laughed (1981)

advertisement
  • Dorothy Stratten was murdered soon after production ended. The negative publicity surrounding the tragedy contributed to the film's limited release.

  • This was the final theatrical starring role for Audrey Hepburn, whose next - and final - film appearance (not counting a TV movie) would be a cameo in the Steven Speilberg film "Always".

  • The film, shot in 1980 by a small crew on the strees of Manhattan, reunited "Bloodline" (1979) co-stars Audrey Hepburn and Ben Gazzara. According to director Bogdanovich, Hepburn and Gazzara had fallen in love on the "Bloodline" set, but Gazzara had subsquently fallen in love with Elke Krivat, who became his third wife. The tensions between Hepburn and Gazzara and Gazzara's depression over the immanent divorce from his second wife made it "difficult at times" on the set.

  • After the murder of Dorothy Stratten, no major studio would release the film, fearing it would bomb due to the tragic context in the public mind. Director Peter Bogdonovitch spent five million dollars of his own money to distribute the film himself. The film bombed, and the director found himself on the brink of financial and professional ruin.

  • The part of Christy Miller was written specially for Colleen Camp and was based on her personality.
