Personal o Equipo Visible: Late in the film, when Frank gets out of his car to plant the bomb at his bar, the Green Mill, the lights used to illuminate the scene are clearly visible in the car door as the door's angle changes. When he opens the car door to get back in, the lights are visible again.

James Caan Excels In Director Mann's Interesing Suspenser

James Caan has one the his best roles of his career in this stylish crime saga. Caan plays a professional thief who wants to have it both ways; a normal family life during the day, and an exciting criminal life at night. Needless to say, both worlds soon collide. The movie works as an exciting caper film and as a very unusual character study of a man living on the edge. This is director-writer Mann's first film, and his ability to create a vigorous atmosphere is very visible. At times, the film does look a little too much like a big budget version of a "Miami Vice" episode (the same disease Mann's 1986 "Manhunter" suffers from), but the film's strong performances, and a multi-layered script put the movie above the ordinary. The very 1980s' atmosphere is bound to turn some people off, but the story is interesting enough to keep the viewer interested. Caan is superb, and Tuesday Weld is excellent as Caan's love interest. Character actor Robert Prosky steals many scenes as Caan's sinister crime boss. Tangerine Dream's weird score is a relic of its time, but I have always liked the group's work.
