Parents Guide for
First Blood (1982)

Wee see Rambo's rear end for several seconds, but that is all the sex or nudity in the film (not even references).

Rambo takes off his shirt and many scars are on him from fighting in Vietnam (not seen).

Teasle threatens Rambo and grabs him, and pulls out Rambo's hunting knife.

A guard whacks Rambo in the back and he falls to the ground, and then kicks him.

A man sprays Rambo hard with water from a hose.

Rambo grabs a man's hand but then another man threatens him, and another man rips the chain off his neck.

A man pushes a stick at Rambo's throat.

A man aggressively grabs Rambo's hand while he tries to pull away.

Rambo learns that one of his friends from Vietnam has died.

A man threatens Rambo to cooperate several times by showing him a stick.

A man holds Rambo aggressively while a man attempts to shave him with a dry razor. The man says that he doesn't want Rambo to cut his own throat. We see some graphic images of John back in Vietnam, including his bloody body being hung up while he is cut across the chest (we see blood). Rambo then moves the man holding him into the wall. We then see a lengthy sequence where Rambo beats up many men in order to escape from prison:Rambo kicks a man in the crotch, then kicks the same man and another man, shoves the man holding him, punches a man, then a man tries to hit Rambo but he knees him and then gauges his eyes. Rambo then throws off a man strangling him, punches him, punches another man, kicks another man in the crotch and throws him through glass. Then the sheriff is kicked, and then the next man Rambo encounters is punched and then pushed out a window.A man is then kicked, and finally another man is kicked down to the ground, and Rambo breaks his nose.

Rambo throws a man off his bike, and then a man attempts to shoot Rambo, but the gun is pushed up (so no one is shot).

Teasle crashes his car and it flips (but Teasle is not seriously injured). Rambo then falls off the motorcycle but is fine.

Several shots are fired at Rambo from a helicopter (he is not hit). He then jumps off a cliff a badly cuts his arm (blood seen on his arm and a cut on his face). Rambo then throws a rock at the helicopter causing a man to fall to his death. When Rambo finds him much of his face is covered in blood. His dead body is seen again and lots of blood has dripped next to him.

Lots of blood pours from Rambo's arm a few seconds later as he stries to stitch up the wound.

Shots are fired at Rambo and he pretends that he was shot.

A bandage is seen on the man whose nose was broken by Rambo.

Teasle grabs a man aggressively when he suggests letting the state police handle Rambo.

Dry blood is seen on Rambo's arm.

A man pushes another man down. Teasle then grabs the man and pulls him up.

A man's dogs are let loose on Rambo (2 are killed by gun which is not seen, and the other dog was killed, but it cannot be determined how. This also is not seen. A man was shot by Rambo, causing the men to fire many shots at Rambo (he is not hit). Blood runs from the man's leg.

Rambo punches a man and cuts his leg, causing great pain to the man. Rambo then jumps on another man from a tree and then punches him. A man is accidentally shot in the shoulder by another man who was intending to hit Rambo. A man is then impaled in the leg by many sharp spikes, and when he is pulled out of it blood is seen on the spikes. A man falls down and then is later seen tied to a tree with some blood on himself and a rope tied around his neck. Teasle is pushed up against a tree by Rambo and a knife is held to his neck. Rambo tells Teasle that he could have killed everyone including him, and that he "will give him a war he wont believe." Rambo then runs away and some blood is seen where Rambo held the knife on Teasle. It should also be noted that some blood is on the faces of most of the men looking for Rambo.

2 men (probably hurt by Rambo) is seen on a stretcher.

A man states that Rambo allegedly used the knife to kill one deputy sheriff (not true) and tried to kill six others.

Col. Trautman tells Teasle that he didn't come to rescue Rambo from him, but that he came to rescue him from Rambo. He then goes on to explain that Rambo was an expert in guerrilla warfare, guns, knives, and using his bare habds. Supposedly, Rambo's job was dispose of enemy personnel and to "kill period." He also states that Teasle and his posse are lucky to be alive and breathing.

Rambo kills a wild pig with a sharp stick by impaling it.

Trautman tells Teasle that if they send 200 men to fight Rambo to bring a good supply of body bags.

Dry blood is again seen on Rambo's arm and face. Teasle asks Trautman jokingly if Rambo can spare all of their lives. Trautman then describes sending men over to Rambo as bringing pigeons to the cat. Rambo states that all men on his team were killed, and he describes how one man was shot dead. He then states twice that the police drew first blood.

Rambo throws a young boy down and hold his knife up, but then he just throws the boy's hunting rifle and runs. The men the boy was with then fire at Rambo but he is not hit. More shots are then fired at Rambo, but he is not hit. Rambo fires at them but no one is hit.

Men blow up the cave Rambo is in with a rocket launcher but he lives.

Rambo falls and hurts his cut arm. He later has to throw rats off of himself as he leaves the cave.

Trautman tells Teasle that their orders were to kill when in doubt, as Teasle describes how he wanted to kill Rambo badly. Trautman says he would have to see Rambo face to face to determine if he should blow his brains out.

Rambo holds a knife to a man driving, and then Rambo throws him out of the vehicle.

Shots are fired at Rambo which miss him. Rambo keeps hitting into a cop car until it hits into another car and there is an explosion as the cop car flips.

Rambo drives over another cop car, destroying hit. He later crashes intro something else with his truck.

Rambo sets fire to a gas station and everything including the truck explodes.

Trautman tries to talk Teasle out of searching for Rambo by telling him that he will die. We later see a large fire from the gas station Rambo blew up.Rambo shoots all the electricity out of the stores and fires many times at random stores.

Rambo blows up another store and shoots up the police station.

SPOILER: Teasle fires at Rambo but misses. Rambo then fires many times and hits Teasle in the leg, causing him to fall through a glass window. Teasle's face has some blood on it, but Rambo does not kill Teasle.

Men outside fire at Rambo but miss.

Rambo describes how his friend died after he bled and his entrails kept coming out.

SPOILER:Rambo walks out at the end with some blood on his face, and Teasle is carried into an ambulance on a stretcher.

Due to some mumbling at times, the following should be considered a minimum: at least 12 f words (1 lipped visually but not heard), 10 uses of the word son of a bitch, 30 uses of the word damn (many with god), 12 uses of the word ass, 18 uses of the word hell, 12 uses of the s word. Uses of the words freak, shut up, psycho, creep, idiot, and crap. Uses of holy, God, Jesus, and Christ as exclamations.

An officer is seen smoking once

Another character is seen smoking once.

Trautman has a cigar and a beer in a bar, and Trautman orders a beer.

Rambo says that him and his friends were at a bar in Saigon.

Scenes listed under violence and gore may be considered frightening and intense.

Some people may be disturbed by the way Rambo was treated in Vietnam.
