All of the performances by Ruben Blades in which he performs with his band in the film were filmed live and were a lot longer than the final cut of the film.
At the time of filming, Ruben Blades and Willie Colon were two of the more popular Salsa Latin singers in New York as well being Award Winning Latin artists.
