Debut theatrical feature film in an acting role of Australian film financier, legal eagle and executive producer Bryce Menzies.
The film in 1982 won the Gold Ducat and Interfilm Jury Prize at the International Film Festival at Mannheim-Heidelberg.
The picture had to be rushed to be finished by the end of the financial year on 30th June 1982 according to director Ian Pringle. This involved a four week shoot with a six-to-eight week edit with ten days for soundtrack laying and three days for the music score.
This Australian film was re-titled for its release in the USA. The movie's name was changed from ''The Plains of Heaven'' to ''Panic Station''.
The picture was produced with the assistance of the Creative Development Branch of the Australian Film Commission.
