The Broadway production of "A Case of Libel" opened at the Longacre Theater in New York on October 10, 1963 and ran for 242 performances.
The movie is based on the real life lawsuit where Quentin Reynolds sued Westbrook Pegler. Reynold's lawyer was Louis Nizer who detailed the story in his book "My Life In Court."
