  • The violence in the the first terminator is overrated.
  • Very violent with a lot of blood. No extreme gore, such as organs but the amount of blood is on par with some horror films.
  • A punk is killed by getting punched through the chest (partially offscreen). The Terminator's bloody hand is seen.

  • A woman is shot several times, offscreen. Later, a police photograph of her corpse is briefly seen.
  • There's a lengthy shootout in a police station in which the Terminator kills many cops. Some blood may be visible, but it's not graphic for the most part, though the scene is dark and intense, and many people are shot and killed.
  • Several people are shot apart in a dark room with a large laser/machine gun weapon. Minimal gore, but still violent and disturbing.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Sex & Nudity

  • Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese are shown having sex in bed. It's kind of dark (in terms of the lighting) but still pretty visible, and we only see them from the waist up. Reese is shown grabbing her breasts. We see some mild thrusting and hear some brief sexual moaning. The scene is probably about 60 seconds long. It's not as explicit as it sounds and is a very romantic scene.

Violence & Gore

  • The Terminator calmly exits a burning vehicle while completely engulfed in flames. He then falls down on the ground and we see the flesh burning away from his body, leaving a blackened skeleton.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • The terminator is seen poking his eye with a fork. This could disturbe viewers.
  • In the chase with the truck at the end of the film you can see how the Terminator lacks much of its human skin on its head and has blood all over its head.
  • Sarah find's Kyle Reese's deads body, which can be very emotionally sad. Seconds later, the Terminator's skeleton grabs her.
  • Most of the Most Disturbing scenes happens in all of the Future Nightmare Scenes. Even years after this films release.
  • Some viewers might find the scene where they show what the civilien population is like during the Future War Depressing and Intense.
  • For a split second we hear a yelp of a dog after when a Terminator shoots it, but act of the dog being shoot dead itself is done off screen. Just before that very same Terminator starts shooting at every civilian there, starting a fire fight with Kyle Reese. In addition we also see and hear the Chose that fallows in the very same scene.
  • An intense and gruesome movie. Very hopeless. The tone of doom of the Terminator possibly killing Sarah is scary. And the Terminator almost defeats Sarah at the end, and Sarah only wins through lucky chance of being near the button that crushes it. It's not a pleasant movie like the sequel.
  • The third act when the Terminator's true form is revealed is probably the most intense. When the robot is seemingly destroyed in a fuel truck explosion, only to rise from the fire and continue its pursuit while stripped to its endoskeleton, can be especially frightening. The special effects used to create the scene look very dated but they add an extra amount of terror.
  • In a factory, after the Terminator is blown up with a pipe-bomb the viewer is left to believe that it is finally dead, however its still-living torso leaps out at Sarah in a manner similar to a jump scare.
