Sex & Nudity

  • Riker has multiple one-night stands with nothing explicit shown, only implied. This stops at the 6-7th season. Councellor Troi is seduced in some episodes. Nothing explicit is shown. Picard has his shirt undone in some episodes, mainly when he is sleeping or has just gotten up.
  • Some sexual references, mostly in the early seasons.
  • Deanna, a member of the Enterprise, regularly wears a tight, form-fitting outfit that shows some cleavage.
  • A few people they come across throughout the series wear revealing, sometimes provocative attire.

Violence & Gore

  • In "Conspiracy," we see a member graphically exploding with blood. That episode is not for kids.
  • In some episodes, phaser damage is shown (i.e stunning or disintegration). Deep gash wounds and minor fist fights are also seen here and there.

Profanity

  • Cinemax content advisory for this show: rated TV-PG. There wouldn't be "the following program contains" because aside from it being subject matter suitable for older kids, there really is no language or adult content or even violence in most episodes.
  • "Hell" and "damn" are used, as well as at least one use of "ass," although sometimes it is used to mean "fool" instead of the rear end. Picard swears in French at least twice

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Alcohol is dealt with by way of a futuristic alternative synthahol, that doesn't get you drunk.
  • There are oblique references to drugs and addiction but mostly by allegory. One episode looks at the process of addiction in detail, in this case to an electronic game that releases pleasure causing chemicals.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Several episodes dealing with the Borg are unnerving at the very least. The concept of a powerful race which can destroy anything and whose weapons are massively superior to others is also alarming. There are scenes dealing with assimilation.
  • Otherwise nothing particularly intense. This is a mild family-friendly show, and most episodes have a happy ending.
  • There can be some very frightening and creepy episodes.
  • Some episodes have a generally unsettling feel.
