where can I see this movie
impactfb8 February 2007
It sounds great and I have seen Gary Kroeger

in other shows and would love to see this movie.

Where can I see this sequel? I remember the original version (as a kid) and the graphics in the new version are of course more sophisticated.

It may not be compared to the others and could stand on its own creative merit, but where can people get a copy or a download of this movie?

It sure would be nice to be able to compare for technical reasons to see how special effects have changed.

And...I just think Gary Kroeger is talented and it is a shame that people don't get to see him perform.

A needless addition

Did we really need a third film about this dog?

This, a made-for-television sequel to 'The Shaggy Dog' and prequel to 'The Shaggy D.A.', is a pale imitation of the preceding two productions. Less humour, lesser acting and a more boring storyline.

It, despite the aforementioned, seems to largely ignore the events of the 1976 sequel. There now seems to be some inconsistencies with the latter; e.g. a previously untold secondary occurrence of the curse, the ring's location, Betty's knowledge. It's possible I'm forgetting something that connects them, I don't think so though.

Gary Kroeger is an average Wilby, but Todd Waring makes for a good Moochie. I didn't care for the love tiff featuring Michele Little (Betty) and Cindy Morgan (Laura), though it is mostly well acted by those two in fairness.

Overall, this is a needless addition to the universe of Shaggy.

Better than the original follow-up...

Not often does a made for TV movie surpass the original, but even rarely does one do so, while also shifting time and counter-acting as a prequel.

Return of the Shaggy Dog is a sequel to The Shaggy Dog, and takes place before The Shaggy D.A. The funny thing is, while The Shaggy D.A. took place in the 70's, this one takes place in the 80's. Originally offered as a two-partner on The Wonderful World of Disney, this movie has only been aired twice, as far as I know, and had Wilby Daniels engaged but before he can get married he ends up kidnapped by the professor's caretakers (who find the ring and read the inscription, hence Wilby's return as the shaggy dog). Also mixed in with the plot is Wilby's brother who is trying to find the perfect dog for a dog food commercial....hmmm.....predictable? Sure. Fun? Definitely!

Maybe with the new movie coming out with Tim Allen (ugh...) everyone will have a chance to see this movie. I've had it on tape for years and always find it entertaining.
