South Park Season 15 Episode 10 Bass to Mouth. South Park: Season 15, Episode 10: Bass to Mouth was an ingredient in the conjecture over whether South Park is losing some of its “mojo”, a prevalent issue among fans and critics. Of course, the show’s own creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, seemed to be asking this very question in the spring finale episode “You’re Getting Old.” Central to this question is the debate over which “type” of South Park episode is best, and which has more potential going forward. Particularly in recent years, there has been a growing divide between big picture, current events-themed episodes, and simpler episodes that just feature the kids conducting shenanigans around town. Many fans have a strong preference for one type or the other, but episodes more geared toward specific satire and current events have largely dominated recent seasons. Well, this Wednesday’s episode...

This was McKinley's second book. It continued her practice of re-telling familiar fairy tales. Her re-tellings are not modernizations nor are they deconstructions. What all of McKinley's books have in common is that they are very personal stories. Instead of the grand, sweeping narrative she focuses on the experiences of individual characters. She is illustrating a perspective on events rather than the events themselves. While the story is seen from a different angle, none of the mystery or magic is lost, as often happens in re-tellings that become deconstructions.

It’s no secret that whenever a big animated film is coming out there’s a cheapo hastily put together version with a similar title released on DVD basically aimed at dumb or clueless parents who think it’s the same film to buy it for their kids. So when Disney’s The Princess and The Frog came out in December, there was the rip-off The Frog Prince released on DVD the week before which Tambay wrote about Here. So if you were curious about that rip-off then take a look at the clip below (but if you can last more than two minutes, you’re a better man than me…)...

Disney's lush hand-drawn fairy tale set in jazz-age New Orleans has got some most critics tapping their toes, with a few in the corner shaking their heads. Whose camp are you in?
Disney's return to old-fashioned hand drawn animation may take the rare step of pitching an African-American character in the lead, but some critics reckon it's a pretty formulaic concoction. Yet others point out that the film is filled with rich, vibrant characters and ravishing images from the paintbrushes of legendary animation directors Ron Clements and John Musker.
The Princess and the Frog is a traditional musical romance (only loosely connected to the Grimm Brothers fairy tale The Frog Prince) which recalls a cavalcade of similar Disney offerings stretching all the way back to 1937's Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. This time the "princess" is a lowly waitress, Tiana, working two jobs in 1920s New Orleans in the...

It’s been a long time (far too long) since a traditional Disney animation was last riding high at the top of the Us box office, but the House of Mouse has triumphed once again with The Princess and the Frog. The retelling of classic fairytale, The Frog Prince, it’s set in New Orleans and it’s this connection that has seen an amazing exhibition of Disney treats head to The Big Easy’s New Orleans Museum of Art (Noma). Named “Dreams Come True: Art of the Classic Fairy Tales from the Walt Disney Studio”, the exclusive collection of Disney memorabilia is on show currently until 14th March 2010 and is a true treat for fans of classic animation.

In the tradition of Disney princesses, Tiana of The Princess and The Frog is both conventional and unconventional at the same time. The movie is loosely based on the Brothers Grimm’s fairytale The Frog Prince and E.D. Baker’s The Frog Princess. Disney’s version is set in 1920’s New Orleans, where jazz was rampant and it was the wealthiest city in the south.

Disney proved it still had what it takes in the classical 2D arena of animation this weekend with the wide release of The Princess and the Frog. The studio’s first hand drawn feature in five years hopped to the top with a modest debut of $25 million. I haven’t enjoyed a classically animated Disney movie since Tarzan, but I very much enjoyed this take on the Brothers Grimm story The Frog Prince. Let’s hope Disney can keep this department going.
Two sports themed pictures took the next two spots. The Blind Side continues its strong word of mouth performance, grossing $15.5 million. The Warner Brothers release has grossed $150 million in 4 weeks and is holding well, dropping a mere 22% from last weekend. Also from Warner Brothers, Clint Eastwood’s politically themed South African sports drama Invictus debuted with $9.1 million.

The Princess and the Frog
Directed by: Ron Clements, John Musker
Cast: Anika Noni Rose, Bruno Campos, Jennifer Cody, Keith David
Running Time: 1 hr 35 mins
Rating: G
Release Date: December 11, 2009
Plot: A young woman in New Orleans works hard to attain her dream of owning a restaurant. Unfortunately, she gets sidetracked by a layabout Prince in the form of a frog. Soon they’re looking for a way to turn back human with a horn-playing gator and a lovelorn firefly.
Who’S It For? Kids, but it will definitely appeal to adults too. Anyone who enjoyed the early ’90s Disney hits like The Little Mermaid and Aladdin should enjoy this.
Expectations: This is the first 2D Disney film since John Lasseter took over the animation department. I was hoping for a classic Disney film, including good music and likable characters, though hopefully with a more modern sensibility.

He’s carved out quite the niche for Disney•Pixar tunes in recent years (the Toy Story films, Monsters Inc., Cars, etc.), and now film composer Randy Newman has added a new string to his bow by composing the soundtrack to the House of Mouse’s first 2D animation in years, The Princess and the Frog. This reworking of the Grimm brother’s fairytale, The Frog Prince is being hailed as a return to the traditional film drawing that made Disney’s legend, and, like so many of their other classics it’s a musical and so when it came to enlisting a composer, John Lasseter (the Chief Creative Officer at Disney and Pixar) went straight to Newman.

Disney is poised make a triumphant return to form with the animation style that the studio used to change the industry over seven decades ago. The Princess and the Frog is the first hand-drawn animation from Disney since 2004's Home on the Range and graces the big screen courtesy of some legendary studio talent, including the directorial pairing of Ron Clements and John Musker in their sixth studio collaboration (including both Aladdin and The Little Mermaid ). The 1995 arrival on the movie scene of Pixar and their premiere film, Toy Story was a watershed event in the world of animation; at once a blessing and a curse. While the revolutionary animation brought cartoons to a whole new level of realism, it also quickly put several nails in the coffin of the 2-D animation those born before 1990 were raised on. Gone were the days of onscreen watercolor masterpieces like Sleeping Beauty or The Little Mermaid or The Lion King. Now, 15 years later, Disney has decided to give their old-fashioned animation one more try with the New Orleans-set The Princess and The Frog. And they succeed admirably at bringing that old Disney feeling back to the silver screen.

My next drive into Manhattan just got much more enjoyable. Coming Soon posted two brand new billboards for Walt Disney Pictures. The Princess and the Frog. These two images are far less lively than the poster released yesterday, but their vibrant colors will make for pleasurable billboard viewing. The story is loosely based on the classic tale The Frog Prince. When a frog desperate to become human again plants a big wet one on a young girl named Tiana, the two must embark on a wild adventure through the bayous of Louisiana. Clearly, the young girl on the left of the first poster is Tiana holding the frog, Naveen. To her left is the priestess Mama Odie with her seeing-eye snake draped around her shoulders. The menacing looking guy on the right is the film.s baddie, the evil Dr. Facilier. Paradoxically, the character to Facilier.s right is Louis,...

The first five minutes and forty seconds of Disney's return to traditional 2D animation, The Princess and the Frog, have been posted online, in a partially still-in-progress form. We get a look at the young Princess Tiana (voiced by Elizabeth Dampier), her buddy Charlotte (Breanna Brooks), and their parents: Terrence Howard and Oprah Winfrey as Tiana's wannabe chef father James and dressmaker mother Eudora, and John Goodman as Charlotte's corpulent moustachioed dad Eli. And a frog. And a rather beleaguered cat.The first five minutes are here, where we see Tiana and Charlotte, at Charlotte's palatial abode, being told the story of The Frog Prince by Eudora. There follows some discussion of the girls' rather differing attitudes to frog smooching, until Eli arrives home. It's then a picturesque tram ride to Chez Tiana where James approves Tiana's gumbo, and there's some chat about dreams coming true. The final forty seconds are here,...

Hey, Hey, here’s a look at the poster from Disney’s upcoming fairy tale flick The Princess and the Frog.
I’m a big fan of hand-drawn animation and while Pixar does a mighty fine job (DreamWorks, that’s a different story) with its cartoon features, color me a traditionalist but I miss the days of yore with princesses and midgets, singing, dancing and evil white folks.
To appease my addiction for animated films from a simpler time, Disney will be releasing The Princess and the Frog, their first hand-drawn animated tale in 5-frakkin’ years. It’s also their first animated-film with an African-American princess.

The insanity. The epically hairy arms. The alien ways. As a child of the 80s, it's hard not to love Robin Williams. Popeye, Mork, Garp, The Frog Prince ... his Add comedy left an indelible impact on so many of us.
Unfortunately, it's been a good long while since I, for one, have been eager and anxious for a Williams film. In fact, I remember my last fan twinges clearly -- it was 1996 with The Birdcage. Soon after, Willims busied himself with drama and thrills, and they never held the same appeal. Sure, he headed back for the laughs a handful of years ago, but mainly with incomparable family films and side gigs. Now, however ... now it looks like we might get a Robin Williams comedic renaissance.
World's Greatest Dad is in limited release with great reviews, and The Hollywood Reporter posts that he will also play Dad in Touchstone's Wedding Banned.
