There is a brief kissing scene between Elsa and Indy, including Elsa briefly sucking on Indy's ear. It's nothing too explicit.

Most of the violence is in the form of physical combat and gunshots. However, much of the violence is rather comical and light and blood is rarely shown. If it is, it is hard to locate.

The most violent scenes come a third of the way into the movie. There is the tank chase where Indy shoots through 3 Nazis with a handgun, surrounding cars explode, a Nazi gets a bullet in his head and blood oozes down- as well as the major fight between Indy and Col. Vogel atop the runaway military vehicle.

And finally during the attempts to find the Holy Grail in the Canyon of the Cressent Moon- two men are decapitated, with one of their heads even rolling across the stones.

There is mild language but nothing very offensive.

There is very limited alcoholic or drug use in the film. Elsa lights a cigarette on one scene and champagne or wine is drank in an early scene of the movie.

There was a single, unecessary scene of one of the film's stars, Alison Doody, smoking. Using a standardized scoring system, this film received a smoking rating of 3 Butts (on a scale of 0-4 Butts). The major and most intense/frightening scene is that of the villain's death where he rapidly ages. This means that his skin rots in seconds, his hair grows and falls off, and his entire body eventually becomes a dying skeleton. His voice also becomes deep and gravelly and his eyes bulge which may frighten some of the younger viewers.
