Josema Yuste y Millan Salcedo are part of the History of recent Spanish comedy. They formed the comic duo "Martes y trece" (dissolved some years ago) and during ther 80s and early 90s revolutioned Spanish TV with their various TV shows and occasional performances. Their humour is very particular, often relying in absurd (think of an impossible mix of The Monty Python and Jerry Lewis), and it certainly works better in small doses.

This movie is one of the several cinema vehicles they starred in, and it is a pretty wretched effort. As I said, Martes y trece work better in small doses, such as their TV shows, where they could abandon any idea of narration and just focus on the absurd. Here, embedded in a caper / prison film parody they end up being quite annoying. The flat direction by veteran Álvaro Sáenz de Heredia and the inane supporting cast certainly don't help.

If you want to see Martes y trece at their best, get any of the TV specials they starred in, most of them have just been released in DVD.

Fun , hilarious and surrealist comedy by the famous and popular Spanish duo , Martes Y Trece

Rightly enjoyable but middling and fun-filled , milestone comedy which neatly combines humor , mirth , entertaining events and amusement . Two brothers (Josema Yuste , Millán Salcedo) scheme the robbery of a known gem , the eye of Nefertiti . They execute the heist hanging in similar style to ¨Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible¨ . But a security guard (Tatiana) and other accomplice (Francisco Casares) wish the famous jewel as well , and they coincide during the hold-up . The bad guys kill a policeman and the brothers being convicted of the killing and condemned in long-term prison . His only opportunity to show their innocence is to getaway from the jail and attempt to retrieve the jewel . They get escaped , being disguised as Guardias Civiles and by means of a helicopter . Out of prison our protagonists reunite his girlfriend (Anabel Alonso) and meet a beautiful shopkeeper (Esther Del Prado) to carry out a robbery at a big mall where is exhibited the eye of Nefertiti and at the same time catch the other nasty villains when they attempt again to get the jewel .

This is a slightly funny film with entertaining as well as bewildering events , giggles , craziness , twists and lots and fun . The film moves in fits and starts most of which would be desirable , with some moments frankly hilarious and others ridiculous and embarrassing . Humor is sometimes cheesy and gross-out with some naughty and picaresque situations such as sex jokes and spicy scenes . As the silly vicissitudes of the starring are so repetitive and the most part results to be rich in absurdities and implausibilities . Filmmaker Alvaro Saenz Heredia often uses disconcerting and surrealist situations to give us a passable movie plenty of funny happenings , absurd incidents and many other things ; and that , at least , kept me entertained for the almost half an hour of duration . Amusing screenplay by Manuel Iborra and Yolanda Garcia Serrano ; both of them are ordinary collaborators , they usually write his films and occasionally for other directors as Joaquin Oristell and Alvaro Saenz De Heredia ; they are experts on comedies as ¨Rose sauce¨, "What Makes Women Laugh?" , ¨Why do they call it love when they mean sex ?¨, ¨Mouth to mouth¨ , "All Men Are the Same" . Duo protagonist is fun : Millan Salcedo , Josema Yuste , both of them give sympathetic performances , though they give exaggerated interpretations . Support cast is pretty well , including familiar faces , such as Anabel Alonso , Valeriano Andrés , Francisco Casares and especial appearance by Emilio Aragon who starred ¨Alvaro Saez Geredia's Freddy el Croupier¨ . Furthermore , three notorious secondary actors , ordinaries in co-productions of the sixties and seventies -Spaghetti Western , Terror- : Fernando Bilbao , Tito García , Cris Huerta .

The motion picture was professionally directed by Álvaro Sáenz De Heredia . He directed various vehicles for popular comedians as Chiquito De La Calzada ,Bigote Arrocet : Bracula, Condemor , Papa Piquillo ; Emilio Aragon : Policia , Freddy , El Crupier ; Andres Pajares : Hoz Y El Martinez ; Javier Gurruchaga : R2 Caso Cadaver Sin Cabeza ; and Martes Y Trece : Aqui Huele a Muerto . Alvaro is an specialist on comedies , as he has proved in : 2010 Venganza Ira Vamp , 2005 R2 Caso Cadaver Sin Cabeza , 2002 Esta Noche no , 2001 Corazón De Bombón , 1998 Pápa Piquillo , 1997 Brácula Condemor II , 1996 Aquí Llega Condemor, El Pecador De Pradera , 1994 Una Chica Entre un Millón , 1992 Chechu y Familia .
