Back in the 1990s, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" was all the rage. Thanks to the hit animated series and feature film franchise, the heroes in a half-shell became one of the biggest pop culture sensations of the decade, sparking various imitators like "Biker Mice from Mars" and "Street Sharks." But there was no beating Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo, especially when it came to the expansive action figure line from Playmates.
On top of the standard versions of all four turtles, as well as their adoptive father Splinter and primary villains Shredder, Krang, Rocksteady, and Bebop, Playmates released an eclectic array of villains along with a bunch of goofy variations on Leo, Donny, Raph, and Mikey. Michelangelo as a birthday clown? Done. Donatello as a cowboy from the Wild West? Yup. Raphael as an astronaut? You know it. Leonardo as a hockey player?...

Anyone who knows and loves a theater kid understands that they can be… a little much. To their credit, theater kids accept and embrace this reputation. Both the excessiveness of theater kids and their willingness to celebrate their extremities can be seen in the comedy Theater Camp, directed by Molly Gordon and Nick Lieberman. After winning over critics and earning a strong, if limited, return in theaters, Theater Camp has come to Hulu.
Based on a short film that Gordon and Lieberman made with Ben Platt and Noah Galvin, Theater Camp features a group of theater kids trying to save their camp from the founder’s jerky son, who wants to sell it off for something more profitable. Both self-aware and sincere, Theater Camp is a love letter to the over-the-top nerds who can sing every word of A Chorus Line and know that Andrew Rannells was in Street Sharks.

Though there's no way to determine the actual numbers, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" is probably responsible for convincing most kids that they need to take up some kind of martial arts. Of course, most of them end up disappointed to learn that they won't be wielding any of the weapons that Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo whip around, and very quickly they come to the realization that practicing karate (or ninjitsu) isn't nearly as fun as beating up the Foot Clan. But that didn't stop "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" writers and producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg from giving martial arts a try, albeit in a more haphazard way.
Leading up to the release of "Tmnt: Mutant Mayhem" (which is a bigger box office hit than it seems), Rogen and Goldberg had some stories about trying to become "Ninja Turtles" themselves. In fact, they both told stories that...

Thanks to the massive success of the 1987 animated series "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," toy companies and television networks were all looking for their own anthropomorphic crimefighting animal franchises in the late 1980s and early 1990s. And when they eventually found them, the results were wild. In the words of Guns N' Roses, "Welcome to the Jungle."
"Battletoads" was probably the most blatant ripoff. "Road Rovers" was another swing and a miss. "Swat Kats: The Radical Squadron" had a pretty awesome show, but the toy line didn't deliver as much as the cartoon. Then came "Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa" and "Street Sharks," which excelled in both areas. But when "Biker Mice From Mars" premiered in 1993, both the show and the toys stood head and shoulders above the rest (but always just below Tmnt). The little kid version of me went nuts for this show, as well as the action...

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle craze that has lasted for decades and waxed and waned from year to year has managed to inspire a few other cartoons that have come along, and Street Sharks is just one of them. What differentiates the Sharks from the Turtles, though, is that the Turtles were an accidental transformation brought on by a radioactive ooze that affected them and their sensei, Splinter. The Sharks were made purposefully, even if it wasn’t something that was desired, and their enemies and allies were also created, or in the case of the dinosaur hybrids that came along,

If you grew up in the ‘90s there’s no doubt that you’ll remember a animated show called Street Sharks. This was such a ridiculous show, but it was fun!
The series was created by David Siegel and Joe Galliani and the story centered on a team of crime-fighting half-man/half-sharks. Well, it’s not hard to think that one day Hollywood will adapt Street Sharks as a CG animated movie.
Digital artist George Evangelista recently shared a piece of art that he created showing us what the characters could look like in a Street Sharks movie. You can check that out below:
To be honest, I only know a little about this show as I was really into Tmnt during this time but there was a few requests for this one. So here is Ripster from Street Sharks. Don't worry I'm consistently looking into the comments for the...

G.I. Joe. Swat Kats. Samurai Pizza Cats. Eto Rangers. Biker Mice from Mars. Street Sharks. Danger Mouse. The cartoons of the 80s and 90s were full of kick-butt action, and rife with martial arts and laser guns. Most of today’s cartoons, well, aren’t. One Kickstarter has arrived to change that – Happi vs Drag. Happi vs Drag features the cybernetically-enhanced animal Agents of Happi working together to kick the butts of the Dragons of Drag before they can take over the planet of New Illinois. Happi, led by the optimist Kylie, depends on teamwork, positive qualities, and overcoming problems, in order to defeat the wicked Admiral Juna Rei Sin and her menagerie of greedy and/or bumbling Soldiers. Back in 1994, the 48-year-old Fast & Furious and xXx star helped sell the now-discontinued Mattel toys at a toy fair, as seen in a video that was posted on YouTube last September and which surfaced on social media again this week. The footage shows Vin sporting dark hair and wearing a sweet black leather vest and what appears to be a shark tooth necklace while sitting at a booth and playing with the half-human, half-shark action figures, as well as other toys, such as a Boglin-like hand puppet. I am a child of the 90s. I loved the cartoons of the time such as, Rugrats, Street Sharks and Sonic the Hedgehog, but the best of these was always Spider-Man: The Animated Series and Batman: The Animated Series, both of which fuelled a lifelong love for the characters and comic books.
I don’t remember watching the Superman’s animated series, although I’m aware there was one, even if my Dad is a huge Bat-fan and despises Superman (asking him for a Superman graphic novel last Christmas was like what I imagine coming out as gay would have been like a few decades ago – or even now, in some places).
Perhaps that is why it took me so long to discover the greatness of Superman. Not to worry, though, I have taken it upon myself to make up for lost time and decided to compile a short list...

Tonight’s episode of How I Met Your Mother was the 100th episode. Like any long-running series, the 100th episode is a a hallmark of success and a time for celebration. It establishes the series’ place among television’s elite in terms of sustainability and popularity.
The episode begins with our main character, Ted, approaching a quartet of stereotypical college students. Shamelessly standing in the hallways of a college building, three of the four carry six-packs of booze with pride, unconcerned it is daytime, they are underage, and are in plain sight of a number of faculty members. The three lunkheads invite the fourth, a meek female who sees the idiocy of the scenario, to “get trashed. On the roof!” In an attempt to save the cornered female, Ted “confiscates” two of the six-packs with his administrative powers, but is courteous enough to leave the frat-boy trio with their embarrassing case of alcopops.
