Everyone loves Danny DeVito, and they can't get enough of his humor. He kills it in all his productions; he's got something for every generation. Whether in Matilda, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Batman Returns, Romancing The Stone, or Twins, DeVito shines and manages to capture us all with his slimy characters. Every generation knows him for something different and continues to sing his praises for his iconic characters. But what about his early years? He's well noted for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest or Goin' South, but you might not know that in the late 1970s, DeVito was in a television series entitled Taxi.

Michael Keaton’s 2 Tim Burton Movie Returns Mean A Sequel To His 41-Year-Old Comedy Has To Be Coming
After Batman and Beetlejuice returns, a Mr. Mom 2 featuring Michael Keaton is a possibility in Hollywood's horizon. Jack Butler could return to help his son or care for his grandkids in a potential Mr. Mom 2, following 1983's family comedy premise. Making Mr. Mom into a successful franchise sequel would be more challenging compared to Keaton's Batman and Beetlejuice returns.
With Michael Keaton reprising his decades-old Tim Burton movie roles from Batman and Beetlejuice in 2023 and 2024, it seems a sequel to his other iconic 1980s movie is in order. While Michael Keaton has had no shortage of exciting new roles in recent years, such as his outstanding performances in Dopesick, Spotlight, and Spider-Man: Homecoming, the Oscar-winning actor has drawn wider attention as of late after returning to his two classic 1980s characters. Both of these movies were originally directed by Tim Burton, who began the first of his five collaborations...

The Batman is a detective story centred on catching the Riddler and unraveling Gotham's corruption. Riddles from The Batman reveal deep truths, lead Batman to uncover conspiracy within the city. Paul Dano crafts a modern Riddler, driving a psychological and thrilling narrative in The Batman.
The Riddler taunts The Dark Knight with a string of riddles in The Batman, but what does each of the Riddler's riddles mean? The Batman is more of a detective story than any previous live-action Batman movie. It sees Batman (Robert Pattinson) and Lt. Jim Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) working to catch the Riddler (Paul Dano) while also unraveling a conspiracy. Beginning with the murder of Gotham's mayor, the Riddler is targeting anyone with information about an informant who helped the Gotham City Police Department bring down the mob boss, Salvatore Maroni.

Batman and Superman have a long-standing rivalry in the DC comics. Often found at different ends of an opinion, the two superheroes rarely seem to see eye to eye when it comes to more radical themes. While they have butted heads quite a lot of times, even in the live-action Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the two superheroes have eventually come together when the greater good of the world is involved.
Superman breaks Batman’s back in Injustice: Gods Among Us
But things got messier in one edition of DC Comics, where Superman breaks Batman in the most harrowing way. This leads Alfred to step up and defend the Wayne family, and as he does so, the Man of Steel suffers one of his most brutal defeats.

Wak! Wak! Fans who wanted Matt Reeves’ The Batman to lean into the violence of Gotham City could be in for a treat when The Penguin arrives on Max. The spinoff series, starring Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot, could find the classic villain breaking more than bones as he continues to waddle toward the top of Gotham’s criminal food chain. Speaking with MovieZine, Farrell said The Penguin is gnarlier than Reeves’ PG-13 Batman film and should be considered “incredibly violent.”
“It was a long and really wonderful experience,” Farrell said about filming The Penguin series. “It’s dark; that’s what I can tell you about it. It’s really dark. It’s really heavy, I think— it certainly was doing it. Which is not to say I didn’t have fun, I had an amazing time doing it. It’s incredibly violent. It’s one man’s rise...

The legacy sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, combines elaborate set design with real-world locations, grounding the fantastical story in reality. East Corinth, Vermont serves as the fictional community of Winter River, with significant landmarks like Miss Shannon's School for Girls featured. Production of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice also includes Melrose, Massachusetts for some nighttime Halloween sequences, due to unforeseen circumstances.
Just like the original, Tim Burton's legacy sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice mixes the director's signature elaborate set design with several real-world locations. The result is that, despite its fantastical story, the movie always has a foothold in reality, making use of several distinctive landmarks to enhance the narrative. These locations don't just mirror the rural American setting of the story, but also expand the scope to include some other regional and international settings.

Turning down a job can sometimes come back to haunt you, especially if you're an actor who passed up a role in an acclaimed horror movie and later regretted the decision. This scenario may be difficult to imagine. After all, who would pass up the chance to be in a movie or TV show, right? As fans, though, it can be easy to forget that the movie business -- for all its glory, fanfare, legacy, and importance -- is, at the end of the day, just that: a business. A person in any industry may decline a job that doesn't feel like good fit, doesn't align with their schedule, or maybe would have them working with a filmmaker or co-star they unsure of for one reason or another.

Say his name three times. Do it. Unlike Candyman, most people would love to summon Beetlejuice. He’s the Ghost With The Most. The film Beetlejuice became an instant classic when it haunted theater screens in the spring of 1988. Burton’s visual aesthetic, along with the amazing performances by Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder, captivated audiences. The film easily grossed over $75 Million at the box office on a $15 Million budget. People loved the character, and he even got a Saturday morning cartoon spin-off that kids loved, but it’s taken thirty-five years for them to get Beetlejuice 2 off the ground!

Tim Burton's "Dark Christmas" trilogy includes Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Mars Attacks! is Burton's secret Christmas movie, subtly designed to fit the holiday season release. Mars Attacks! garnered mixed reviews for its humor, making it one of Burton's lowest-rated and forgetful projects.
Tim Burton has an unofficial Christmas trilogy formed by some of his most popular movies, but there’s another, secret entry in this group that ended up becoming a big box office flop. Tim Burton has become one of the most recognizable filmmakers of his generation thanks to his unique combination of Gothic elements, horror, and fantasy, which are present in almost all of his works. Burton’s feature-length directorial debut arrived in 1985 with Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, but it wasn’t until his second movie, Beetlejuice (1988), that he was able to fully display his unique visual style.

In 2023, some 30 years after he last donned the cape and cowl, Michael Keaton stepped back into the Batsuit for "The Flash." Keaton defined the character for me and a whole generation of kids who grew up on Tim Burton's infectiously moody takes on the Dark Knight with "Batman" and "Batman Returns." Although "The Flash" was a box office bomb of super-heroic proportions, seeing Keaton back in the suit was a thrill that gave my inner six-year-old a nostalgic jolt unlike any other.
For Keaton himself, it seems wearing the iconic costume for the first time after so long was just as moving an experience. "The Flash" director Andy Muschietti recalled how the "Birdman" star appeared to be having an emotional reaction to being in the suit when he first set foot on set and even wanted pictures to show his grandson that he was Batman.

Danny DeVito’s portrayal of Oswald Cobblepot / The Penguin in the 1992 film ‘Batman Returns’ is considered one of his most memorable performances. He underwent a significant physical transformation for the role and demonstrated a strong commitment to the character. DeVito brought both menace and humor to the character, earning him critical acclaim and recognition as one of the standout performances in the movie. Alongside Michael Keaton, who reprised his role as Batman in the 2023 film ‘The Flash,’ DeVito’s performance stood out.
Despite ‘Batman Returns’ being a commercial and critical disappointment, Keaton’s return to the role received widespread praise, sparking speculation about DeVito potentially reprising his role as well, this time within the DC Extended Universe (Dceu). In an interview with Screenrant, DeVito expressed his willingness to return to the role under one condition: if Tim Burton were to direct the film.

Danny DeVito’s portrayal of Oswald Cobblepot / The Penguin in 1992 ‘Batman Returns’ is definitely one of his most iconic roles. He went through a major physical transformation to play it as well as showed remarkable dedication to the character. He was menacing but also managed to convey as certain dose of humor through the role. It earned him critical acclaim and is often cited as one of the best performances in the movie. DeVito starred alongside Michael Keaton and as we know, Keaton reprised his role as Batman in 2023 ‘Flash.’

Sometimes, when actors find themselves the focus of a particularly passionate fandom, they reject it. Look at Harrison Ford constantly playing down the importance of "Star Wars" or Robert Pattinson and his open disdain for the "Twilight" series. Which is why it's nice when an actor shares in fans' joy for a particularly beloved performance. Case in point: Danny DeVito and his role as Penguin in "Batman Returns."
Tim Burton's 1992 expressionist masterpiece remains the best Batman movie ever made, and DeVito is a big part of that legacy. The "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" star delivered a stunningly committed performance as Oswald Cobblepot aka the Penguin, managing to make the deformed "penguin man of the sewers" so wretchedly evil and yet, at times, sympathetic. The abandoned son of a well-to-do couple commits some truly heinous acts throughout "Returns" and yet you still feel a pang of sadness for the old boy.

“Mad Max: Fury Road” (2015) reignited the post-apocalyptic genre with its action and vision. This was the fourth movie in the Mad Max franchise and the first since 1985. Directed by the creative mind of George Miller, it starred Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron in leading roles.
Tom Hardy || Mad Max: Fury Road
The film’s success led to calls for more, and those calls are being answered with “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” a prequel focusing on Theron’s character’s earlier adventures. However, Theron won’t be reprising the role and there’s a solid reason behind this.

Barry Sonnenfeld's 1991 film "The Addams Family," based on the New Yorker comic strips by Chas Addams and extrapolated from the 1964 sitcom of the same name, was a pop culture clarion call for aspiring young goths the world over. The Addams Family were a gaggle of murderous weirds who lived in a haunted mansion, kept a severed human hand as a pet, and regularly engaged in cute family games wherein they exhumed long-dead relatives. They loved blood, sex, and magic. It's possible they were immortal; the young Wednesday (Christina Ricci) regularly murdered her brother Pugsley (Jimmy Workman). Morticia (Anjelica Huston) and Gomez (Raul Julia) were sexually active to an enviable degree, perhaps standing as one of the healthiest, most sex-positive couples in movies at the time. They were full of zest and joie de vivre. Only they were obsessed with death, so perhaps the term should be joie de mourir.

Batman actor Michael Keaton reprised his role as the DC hero in the recent comic book film The Flash. Although it’s become a tradition for Batman actors to work out for the role, Keaton was able to skip the process.

Keaton’s Batman was officially canonized into DC’s expanding multiverse in The Flash. The movie would see the actor portraying his and Tim Burton’s Batman for the first time since 1992’s Batman Returns. When offered the part, Keaton seemed more than willing to don the cape and cowl again. He admitted he was mostly interested in how his character would be approached after so many years.

You wanna get nuts? Let’s get nuts! Michael Keaton is revealing a little bit more about his quasi-return as Batman at the 96th Academy Awards, saying he could kick some Gotham butt if he’s forced to. He can also still rock an ascot, which he said he wore to “Bruce Wayne it up a little bit”, something many fans were keen to notice.
While we will never actually see Michael Keaton’s Batman square off against Danny DeVito’s Penguin again or Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mr. Freeze even once (that job went to George Clooney), he does think he would come out on top. “Danny is the one I’d worry about ’cause he’s sneaky. DC Studios has delayed the release of The Batman - Part II, with the project now set to premiere on October 2, 2026. The Batman - Part II's delay means only one DC Studios feature film will be releasing each in 2024 and 2025, Joker: Folie à Deux and Superman, respectively. While this could be a disappointment, The Batman - Part II's delay may actually be the best choice for DC Studios and the rebooted Dcu.

Hollywood A-lister, Mark Wahlberg known for his action roles and dramatic turns, has had a long and successful career. But even the best actors have near misses. For him, that almost meant suiting up as a superhero in a film not exactly known for its critical acclaim.

It is Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever. Schumacher helmed Batman Forever after Warner Bros. chose him in 1993 to take over from Tim Burton. The film was a stylistic departure from Burton’s Batman and Batman Returns.

Michael Keaton is sharing how his Batman appearance at the Oscars 2024 came to be.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the actor-director explained that either Jimmy Kimmel or Oscars producer Molly McNearney reached out to him about the bit ahead of the awards show, and he thought it would be fun.
The bit saw Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito take the stage on Sunday night to present the award for best visual effects, which went to Godzilla: Minus One. But apparently, they weren’t reuniting as Twins co-stars but as Batman villains, with Keaton’s Dark Knight in the audience. (Schwarzenegger portrayed Mr. Frieze in Batman & Robin, which starred George Clooney’s Batman, and DeVito took on the role of The Penguin in Batman Returns.)
When Kimmel asked about his menacing look at the men onstage, Keaton joked that he could take on both of their villains any time.

Touring the riot scene, gravely assessing the devastation, patiently awaiting to play Oswald Cobblepot again. That’s the word from Danny DeVito, who says that if he can get Tim Burton on board, he would absolutely play The Penguin once more.

Mark Wahlberg was in discussions to play Robin in Batman Forever in 1997, but he never received an official offer or did any screen tests. DC's Batman and Batman Returns were hits, but Batman Forever and Batman & Robin weren't as successful. Wahlberg has not played any superhero characters in his long acting career.
Mark Wahlberg reveals the divisive Batman Forever character he almost played back in 1997. DC's Batman (1989) was a smash hit, and its sequel, Batman Returns, delivered another iconic adventure for the Caped Crusader. Unfortunately, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, directed by Joel Schumacher instead of Tim Burton, failed to garner the same excitement. Though the movies had several problems in general writing, tone, and villains, their interpretation of Robin also largely failed to impress.

Danny DeVito would gladly reprise his role as the Penguin in a Batman film if Tim Burton directed it. Fans also want Michael Keaton to come back as Batman/Bruce Wayne after his show-stealing appearance at the 96th Academy Awards. The banter between Batman alums DeVito, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Keaton at this year's Oscars proved to be one of the more memorable moments from the awards ceremony.
It’s quite simple, really. If Tim Burton decided to direct another Batman film that featured the Penguin, aka Oswald Cobblepot, then Danny DeVito would reprise the villainous role he brought to life on the big screen over 30 years ago. DeVito portrayed the iconic Dark Knight baddie only one time and that was in 1992’s Batman Returns. And DeVito revealed in an exclusive interview, while discussing the upcoming one-night performance of Matilda in Concert, Burton is the key to his return as the Penguin.

When it is iconic pairings we are talking about there are very few that are as legendary as Batman and the Batmobile. This dynamic duo is more than just a team. While many might initially think of Robin as Batman’s right-hand man, it’s the sleek, powerful Batmobile that truly completes the Caped Crusader’s arsenal. Together, they navigate every curveball thrown their way in style.
