It’s without shame that one can say that some of these gender swaps are kind of fetching when looking at how the Avengers were given a different look by re-imagining each person as the opposite gender. Tony Stark, or maybe Antonia perhaps, still looks determined and definitely ready to unload some serious attitude on someone in the form of overwhelming knowledge that’s tinged with just enough arrogance to be felt. But given that that people are hoping to see Iron Heart come to the MCU perhaps we’ll see some estimation of this in Riri Williams, whenever she’s introduced. There is

If you take a look at the first wave of Marvel Cinematic Universe shows coming to Disney+ you can trace a direct line to the core Avengers team. January’s WandaVision focuses on Vision and Scarlet Witch. March’s Falcon and the Winter Soldier plays in the same superspy corner of the McU that Black Widow does while continuing the Captain America legacy. Hawkeye will feature Clint Barton training his replacement and will be the most street level McU look since Daredevil was unceremoniously canceled. Loki is Thor’s brother, for cryin’ out loud. And She-Hulk, well…you get the picture.
Each of these shows is devoted to either furthering the legacy of particular Avengers, or fleshing out and exploring specific corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But there’s one corner of the McU that has remained unexplored, and it’s the one that started it all: Iron Man.

Back in September news broke that Marvel was bringing a Nick Fury TV series starring Samuel L. Jackson to Disney+. At the time, it wasn’t clear what shape the series would take, since Fury had last been seen in Spider-Man: Far From Home zipping off into the depths of space on a Skrull ship. Despite the fact that Jackson’s Fury had a prominent role in that film (in terms of the stuff going on on Earth), it was revealed that it wasn’t Fury at all…but rather the shape-shifting Skrull Talos played by Ben Mendelsohn who Fury had aided and befriended during the events of Captain Marvel.
So with Fury off-world and a Skrull stepping into the shoes of one of the most important superspies on the planet, fans immediately began wondering if Marvel was looking to bring Secret Invasion to the screen. It turns out, they were.

“Ironheart” is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios is developing a Disney+ series based on the teen superhero, but it’ll be a while before it actually comes to fruition. The news came Thursday evening during Marvel’s portion of the Disney Investor Day presentation which saw a truly astounding number of new announcements for the “Star Wars” and Marvel franchises.
Ironheart — who will be played by Dominique Thorne on the show — is a relatively recently created character in the comics, so we’ll forgive you if you don’t know about her. So here’s a brief rundown on the characters as she exists in the comics.
In the comics, Ironheart is Riri Williams, a Black teen prodigy attending MIT who builds her own suit of flying armor that she reverse-engineered from Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit design. Williams is sort of an Iron Man fangirl — appropriate,...

Thursday afternoon’s Investor Day call from the Walt Disney Company attempted to clear the air after a very uncertain year. With their global theme parks closed their grandest success has been in the world of streaming thanks to their Disney+ service which has 89.8 million consumers as of this month. As a keystone of their streaming portfolio, it was question on everyone’s lips whether they’d announce key premiere dates for their various Marvel shows, several of which had to delay production due to the global health crisis. All doubts were dispelled as some dynamic new footage from several shows was revealed.
At the top of the call was the announcement that 10 Marvel series’ will debut over the next few years. Several hours later they then showed this first footage from “Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”

Don Cheadle’s contract with Marvel Studios may have expired following Avengers: Endgame, but with many of the franchise’s other long-tenured heroes signing up for further adventures despite the long-term plan being to replace the vast majority of them, a return remains a distinct possibility now that Rhodey can finally step out of Tony Stark’s shadow.

But beyond just that we’ve now heard that Rhodey could return in a future film to hunt down one of the franchise’s most powerful figures.

As the star playing one of the McU’s most iconic characters, Robert Downey Jr.’s memorable and emotional curtain call as Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame felt like a legitimate loss for the franchise. Fans certainly thought so, and most people are still hoping that Marvel finds a way to bring the Armored Avenger back in some form or other.
Luckily for them, it sounds like they’ll soon get their wish. We’ve heard whispers of a possible return for Rdj for a while now and we’ve been told this week that the actor might make a cameo appearance sooner than we expect. According to sources close to Wgtc – the same ones who informed us that Ahsoka Tano will be in The Mandalorian, Taskmaster will be the villain of Black Widow and a She-Hulk show is coming to D+, all of which were correct – Marvel is working toward getting Robert Downey Jr.

Rumors surrounding a potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Tony Stark started while fans were still mourning his death in Avengers: Endgame, with widespread speculation that the franchise’s marquee attraction could be brought back anywhere from an Ironheart series on Disney Plus to the voice of Spider-Man’s artificial intelligence.
Iron Man may have made the ultimate sacrifice play to save the universe, but the genius billionaire playboy philanthropist’s absence from our screens hasn’t lasted very long, with Marvel using Black Widow‘s status as a prequel set directly after the events of Captain America: Civil War to rope Robert Downey Jr. in for a cameo.

Even though Tony Stark made the ultimate sacrifice and gave his life to save the universe at the end of Avengers: Endgame, almost as soon as the movie faded to black, talk had already started about a potential return. As the face of the entire McU for over a decade, Robert Downey Jr. is virtually irreplaceable, and death has never exactly been an obstacle that the comic book genre can’t overcome.
Rdj is already lined up for a cameo in Black Widow, but as a prequel, that doesn’t affect his status in the main timeline. Marvel were reportedly keen to secure his services for further projects, too, including an Ironheart series on Disney Plus, but the actor’s financial demands were said to be a stumbling block. One that he’s since softened his stance on following Dolittle’s dismal performance at the box office.

There wasn’t a dry eye to be found in most theaters when Tony Stark sacrificed his life to defeat Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. It was a fitting end to a hero who began his journey of redemption in Iron Man and evolved over the course of the saga. It also signified a radical shit in the status quo of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with expectations of a new Avengers team and greater villains to be defeated.
But if you’re not sure if you can move on from the loss of Tony Stark, there might still be hope. Iron Man met a heroic, tragic end in Avengers: Endgame, so it looks like Robert Downey Jr. has made his last major appearance in the McU. He might have a cameo in Black Widow and a voice role in the Ironheart TV show, but he won’t be taking part in any future team-up movies. Another Tony Stark might, though, as a Secret Wars film adaptation is on the way and it could allow Marvel to introduce a different version of the Armored Avenger.

Tony Stark may have pulled the ultimate sacrifice play in Avengers: Endgame, but if Spider-Man: Far From Home is any indication, he’ll continue to cast a huge shadow over the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a long time yet. Although there’s been constant speculation that Robert Downey Jr. could be tempted to return in one form or another, as the franchise’s biggest name and most popular character, there’s little chance that any and all references to Iron Man will suddenly be dropped now that he’s out of the picture for the time being.
As Peter Parker’s onscreen mentor and father figure, Tony will no doubt continue to play a major role in the McU’s Spider-Man franchise even from beyond the grave, especially with his longtime confidant Happy Hogan now a big part of the web-slinger’s solo series. However, until it either gets officially confirmed or outright denied,...

Tony Stark may have made the ultimate sacrifice to save the universe in Avengers: Endgame, but almost as soon as the credits faded to black on the Infinity Saga’s concluding chapter speculation started about Robert Downey Jr.’s potential return. The old saying goes that nobody really stays dead in either comic books or their movie adaptations with the exception of Spider-Man‘s Uncle Ben and Batman’s parents, so seeing Iron Man again in the future isn’t entirely outside the realms of possibility.
There’ve been reports that Rdj’s excessive financial demands could be a stumbling block in negotiations, although he’s said to have lowered his asking price after Dolittle bombed spectacularly at the box office, and even if he doesn’t make a comeback, Tony will still cast a huge shadow over the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we’ve already seen in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

By most accounts, Robert Downey Jr. is done with the McU. His time as Iron Man helped launch one of the biggest movie franchises of all time, earned him legions of adoring fans and millions upon millions of dollars. Since Stark’s death in Avengers: Endgame, some have hoped that he would one day return from the dead and reprise the role. It seems unlikely, but those people got quite a boost yesterday when Downey Jr. made a remark that could leave the door open to it happening.
During a live video conference for the Avengers: Endgame quarantine watch party, the Russo brothers spoke about their experience making the movie. Robert Downey Jr. also made a surprise appearance and revealed how he feels about it one year on from its release. At the end of their conversation, Joe Russo said: “Maybe we’ll have to do this again someday.

If Robert Downey Jr. is willing to take a hefty paycut to come on board for Ironheart once it finally gets the green light to go ahead then it’d be great to see him connected to the McU once again. But as Christian Bone of We Got This Covered has already put it down, it would be as an AI and not a resurrection story as has happened to too many heroes in the comics. In this case the AI would likely act in the came capacity that Jarvis and Friday both did for Tony when he was still rocking

No one’s ever really gone. Not in the movies, at least. And especially not in the McU.
According to sources close to Wgtc – the same ones who told us a She-Hulk show is coming to Disney Plus and the Guardians will cameo in Thor: Love and Thunder, both of which we now know to be true – Marvel is planning a pretty special cameo for Spider-Man 3. And it’s one that we certainly weren’t expecting.
After reportedly agreeing to terms to return for the planned Ironheart TV show, Robert Downey Jr. will also apparently show up in the third McU Spider-Man movie. It’ll be as an AI, as he continues to mentor Tom Holland’s web-slinging hero, and will only be a brief appearance as he delivers some sort of message to him. Or at least, that’s what the current plan is. Things can always change...

Marvel haven’t even officially announced that they’re developing an Ironheart show for Disney Plus, but already it looks like it could be one of the most important projects in the studio’s near future. Not only will it eventually introduce Tony Stark’s heir apparent Riri Williams into the McU and tie back to the Iron Man franchise that served as the catalyst for the entire shared universe, but it could also be a gateway to getting some big names to cameo on the Mouse House’s lineup of exclusive streaming content.

Riri Williams’ self-titled series Ironheart may have wrapped up last November, but readers will hardly have time to miss the M.I.T. prodigy as she makes her return in April’s 2020 Ironheart, a two-issue story written by Morbius scribe Vita Ayala and Queen of Bad Dreams‘ Danny Lore, who also co-wrote Dynamite’s latest James Bond comic together.

An integral part of the McU’s immense success is Robert Downey Jr. His performance as Tony Stark in 2008’s Iron Man took a B-list superhero and turned him into a pop culture icon. Of course, the film also launched the McU as well, with Downey Jr.’s Stark becoming the center of the franchise and going on to feature in massive hits like The Avengers, Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Endgame and many others.
The hero received the perfect conclusion to his decade-long story with Anthony and Joe Russo’s aforementioned Endgame as well, where he sacrificed himself to defeat Thanos. It was a good way to go out given what his arc across the McU had been and after such a well executed send-off, it’s understandable that Downey Jr. has been reluctant to return to the role, despite the demand from fans for it to happen.

Gwyneth Paltrow has a lot on her plate these days. She’s an Oscar-winning actor, mother, businesswoman and produces a line of candles that smell like her vagina. Even so, for someone who’s appeared in multiple McU movies over the last ten years, you’d think she would remember them a bit better. Last summer she forgot she was in Spider-Man: Homecoming, she couldn’t remember who Sebastian Stan was, forgot that Samuel L. Avengers: Endgame was Marvel’s most ambitious project yet, without a doubt. Bringing together pieces from nearly every single one of the films in their extensive cinematic universe, the studio took us on an intergalactic and also time-traveling journey of mammoth proportions. However, not everything went down smoothly with fans.
In the months since its release, the cast and crew have faced numerous questions, with viewers asking “why this” and “why that” in regards to various moments. But if there’s one question that’s been brought up the most, it’s probably: why did Tony Stark have to die?
Yes, at the conclusion of Endgame, Iron Man met his glorifying end, sacrificing himself to save the world from Thanos. But this wasn’t always going to be the case. In fact, as evidenced by the concept art below, there was an alternate ending to the film which actually saw Tony survive.
