We’ve had 2033 and the rather excellent Last Light; now, it’s (almost) time for Metro Exodus.
Developer 4A Games took to the stage during Microsoft’s E3 presser yesterday evening to unveil the latest installment in its post-apocalyptic series. It is, in the words of Executive Producer John Bloch, the most ambitious project that the Ukrainian developer has ever taken on, and from the trailer above, you’ll see that the actual story of Exodus unfolds across all four seasons: spring, summer, fall, and a biting nuclear winter.
Speaking of story, Bloch went on to confirm that, yes, players will once again assume the role of Artyom in Metro Exodus, and that the quasi-sequel is definitely considered canon. Said he: “The story starts in Moscow and you play as Artyom and it picks up from Metro: Last Light’s enlightened ending. That is canon. It doesn’t pick up directly,...

Following a tantalizing announcement at least year’s E3, Microsoft has finally put a final name to Project Scorpio, or, as it’s now officially known, the Xbox One X.
As expected, Microsoft kicked off its E3 presser by unveiling the upgraded Xbox One, wasting no time in revealing what’s housed within its sleek, jet black casing. Not content with making the One X the most powerful console ever built, the software giant’s answer to the PS4 Pro is also the smallest member of the Xbox family, coming in at an even smaller size than last year’s One S.
To show off exactly what Microsoft’s latest bit of kit can do, a short demo of Forza Motorsport 7 was beamed on-screen, revealing some gorgeous 4K visuals. Running at a solid 60fps throughout, the latest addition to Turn 10’s revered racing series boasts eye-waveringly beautiful weather effects and so-called “living environments.

Downloadable content, or Dlc, as it has abbreviated for snappy marketing purposes, is a bit of a contentious issue in the gaming community. In principle, it’s a good thing. The developers produce additional content for a game to buy later, to keep said game relevant and give people who brought the game a reason to come back, and not have the thing sitting on their shelves for months, or traded in after completion. I get that. The first time I properly indulged in Dlc was with Fallout: New Vegas (2010). I owned all story expansions and weapon packs. It enhanced the experience and my time spent playing it, though I realised that the game would still be worth its salt without those extras. Had I just stuck to the vanilla version, I don’t feel I’d have been that worse off for it.
But that’s key, isn’t it?...

I really wanted to like Sword of Vengeance, I really did. Billed as “an almighty clash between Hammer of the Gods and Game of Thrones”, the film comes from the same people that worked on Nicolas Winding-Refn’s Valhalla Rising – to be fair that should have thrown up a warning or two given how much I hated that film – and tells the story of the Shadow Walker (Weber) who, cast out by the ruthless king, is searching for a new place to call home but clashes with many of the kingdom’s inhabitants along his journey. His story crosses paths with that of warrior Anna (Wallis) who, after the death of her husband, is called upon to lead her fellow Saxons into battle.

Metro: Last Light
4A Games
Deep Silver
PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, Mac, Linux
Like the studio it was developed in, the world of Metro: Last Light is a claustrophobic, dark, and chilling place. Set in the dingy and overgrown subway systems under a post-apocalyptic Moscow, Last Light, at its core, is about survival and the consequences of achieving it. Built by 4A Games, a small development house in Ukraine, Last Light’s tension-filled atmosphere and sense of scale is simply stunning, rivaling even the highest budgeted Aaa titles. The Metro is as equally terrifying as it is beautiful, and deserves a place among the most unique dystopian video game settings.
In 2013, a nuclear war left Russia’s surface scarred and infested with radiation, mutated haunts, and otherworldly creatures. Having nowhere else to go, humans sought refuge underground amidst Moscow’s sewers and equally grimy metro lines. For two decades,...

As we enter the second half of September, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can now access Halo: Reach for free courtesy of Microsoft’s Games With Gold promotion.
Normally priced at $25, this offer means that Halo: Reach will replace Monaco: What’s Yours is Mine on the digital roster — which was available for the first two weeks of this month. Without doubt, this presents a great opportunity for fans of the series to download Bungie’s fifth and final Halo title, given that the 2010 hit won’t be included in the forthcoming Halo: The Master Chief Collection when it releases in November.
Elsewhere on Microsoft’s digital storefront, Valiant Hearts — Ubisoft Montpellier’s wonderful and poignant take on the trials and tribulations of World War I — is currently half price until September 22nd. If you haven’t got round to playing the studio’s digital release, we here at We Got...

Metro Redux is an interesting concept from the very beginning: A visually enhanced remake of an older game that brings it up to the same graphical fidelity of its younger brother, unlocks all of its previous Dlc and adds in new game mechanics. It’s definitely an upgrade, but it’s a bit of a hard sell to those who have already played through both of the series’ revered titles.
Metro Redux is actually two separate games – Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, respectively — retooled and given slight upgrades. They do come bundled together, however you can also pick them up separately if you’re a PC gamer. For the sake of convenience on our part and to keep you from reading two full reviews of older games (or even doing the scumbag journalistic move of separating them into two different pieces themselves,) we’re going to review the entire bundle together.

As the industry has gotten bigger, video games have begun to widely feature more mature content than ever before. From gory violence, to dark, expansive plots, video games are now more than capable of producing adult content on the same level as the movie industry.
A controversial point of discussion with video games is those that feature any kind of nudity or sexual content. Because video games are still considered by many to be children’s toys, certain conservative groups have found sexual content in video games to be highly disagreeable and immoral.
Of course, video games are no longer confined to the realm of children’s play things and nerdy fanatics. Rather, gaming is fast becoming the world’s biggest entertainment industry, with titles such as Grand Theft Auto V making far more money than even the biggest Hollywood blockbusters.

Reviving an old school shooter into the modern world of gaming is no easy task. Perhaps it’s the attempt at bringing one-dimensional characters into the modern world of a more complex story. Maybe it’s the fact that the expectations and hopes have been set too high (or cynically low) for the game to be given any chance. Or it might just come down to the fact that they either have to stick with outdated mechanics or exchange them for newer conventions that have none of what made the game great in the first place.
Fps reboots have had varying degrees of success, and Wolfenstein is no exception. Whether you consider Return To Castle Wolfenstein and Wolfenstein (2009) to be an enjoyable or disappointing installments, it would be hard to find anyone viewing them more favorably than the Fps godfather Wolfenstein 3D or even comparing to the best shooters of their eras.

Deep Silver has announced that Metro Redux, the remastered bundle of the two previously released titles in the Metro franchise, will hit store shelves on August 26 in North America for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC. The bundle will subsequently launch on August 29 in Europe.
Revealed back in March, Metro Redux brings together remastered versions of 2010′s Metro 2033 and 2013′s Metro: Last Light. Series developer 4A Games has returned to work on the project in order to ensure that it is more than just a fresh coat of paint slapped onto some old projects.
Besides the graphical uptick that comes with the remastering, Metro Redux will also feature a variety of tweaks and updates that will make the title play better than before. Improvements introduced in Metro: Last Light will now appear in Metro 2033, as well as the requested ability to be able to check your inventory and watch.

4A Games' Metro titles are great first person shooters based upon the best-selling novel, Metro 2033, by Dmitry Glukhovsky. Taking place in a post apocalyptic Russia, they tell the story of mankind's survival after a nuclear holocaust, with the remaining population living in the metro system, and underground labyrinth surrounding it.
The world is now a desolate place, covered in radiation and inhabited my mutant creatures, and below the streets, those that survive live in small settlements upset by warring factions and the difficulties of living in a subterranean world.
The games are Fps titles that utilise survival horror, stealth and all-out action mechanics. The first game was flawed, but enjoyable, and the second was a definite gem many may have missed.

Following on from rumors a few weeks back, 4A Games and Deep Silver have officially announced "Metro Redux," a completely re-mastered collection of the first-person survival horror games "Metro 2033" and "Metro: Last Light" for PC, Mac and both next-gen consoles.
The original "Metro 2033" has been rebuilt in the engine developed for the sequel "Metro Last Light," bringing in new graphics elements, level detail, greater visual fidelity, and gameplay elements from the latter into the former. Even the recent 'Last Light' is getting a graphical facelift - likely it will be optimised to work better with less power ('Last Light' is notorious for causing even high-end PCs to struggle).
The games will also boast new content, all the previously released Dlc, advanced lighting, better character animation, dynamic weather, advanced enemy AI, improved fire and particle effects, weapon customization, silent kills and enemy takedowns.

Though it was leaked somewhat ahead of schedule by an Italian website, 4A Games has since confirmed plans to bring Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light to the PS4 and Xbox One in the form of the Metro Redux.

Remember Me, a fantastic sci-fi title, has recently been announced by Sony for their Instant Game Collection on Ps Plus, according to a post on the PlayStation blog (via Polygon). The game, which is set in 2084 and takes place in Paris, focuses on Nilin, who is stripped of her memories and must unravel a conspiracy in order to get them back. It polarized critics upon release, as many lauded the story but ultimately condemned several technical aspects. I, however, greatly enjoyed it.
The PlayStation Vita version of Street Fighter X Tekken is also joining the Instant Game Collection on February 18. The game pins Capcom’s finest against Namco’s greatest, and even though it’s considered to be a decent crossover, the Vita version has suffered much criticism.

PlayStation Plus has proved hugely popular with PlayStation 4 users, with more than half of the console’s owners subscribed to the service. With over 4.2 million PS4s sold worldwide, that’s a pretty impressive stat. The service, which is required for online multiplayer on the PlayStation 4, also provides customers with a variety of games to download for free every month, mainly for the PlayStation 3 and the Ps Vita.
PlayStation 4 owners currently only receive one title a month (this month for example, it’s Outlast), but that’s understandable due to the small number of games available for the system at the present time. Ps Plus also provides discounts and exclusive sales as well as other benefits, like cloud storage. Like I mentioned above, online multiplayer on PlayStation 4 requires the service too, which is no doubt why such a high percent of users have subscribed to Plus.

Sony has announced the planned February offers for PlayStation Plus in North America, and from what I can see, the pickings look pretty good for this coming month.
PS4 owners can expect the opportunity to download the recent horror title Outlast, while PS3 owners will be able to get their hands on Metro: Last Light, PayDay 2 (pictured above), and Remember Me. Vita owners won’t be left out of the action either and will find the portable version of Street Fighter X Tekken along with system launch title ModNation Racers: Road Trip.

Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye # 24
Written by James Roberts and John Barber
Art by Atilio Rojo, James Riaz, Nick Roche, Livid Ramondelli and Robert Gill
Published by Idw Comics
The review for last month’s issue of “Transformers: More than Meets the Eye”, the second part in the twelve-issue “Dark Cybertron” storyline that crosses over both ongoing Transformers titles, began with a pithy, if strained, analogy comparing the experience of reading the issue to being caught between two conversations of vastly different degrees of entertainment. While it would be possible to cook up a similar analogy to describe this latest issue, possibly something involving being forced to alternate between a well-crafted club sandwich and a stale Pb&J but with no J, but it would be far easier to simply say that everything glaringly wrong and unsatisfying that was present last time around is still there.

When we first heard of YouTube's plan to begin screening videos from Affiliate channels of YouTube Multi-Channel Networks and subjecting those videos to a process of monetization review, we figured we had at least another month and an explanatory blog post still to come before the changes would take effect. Apparently, however, some of the changes associated with the new system may have come sooner than we expected. Dozens of prominent YouTubers mostly in the gaming vertical are reporting that Content ID has flagged tens, and sometimes hundreds of their videos. What's more is many of the copyright claims are coming from suspicious third-party sources who - in some cases - don't appear to be the owners of the questionable content. Many of the creators whose videos have been flagged are among the most popular on YouTube. TheRadBrad, a gamer whose walkthroughs have earned him nearly two million subscribers and...

Most gamers look forward to Spike TV's Video Game Awards if for nothing else other than the amazing game reveals they offer up. This year, the network is changing things up and launching Vgx, a new multi-platform streaming event. While it's still essentially an Awards show, it'll break from tradition and offer up more gaming insights. Today, they've revealed the list of nominees in all of the categories. Come inside to check it out!
I'm not entirely sure what to make of Vgx. While I'm not sold on the name (Vga's is something we're already familiar with), I do like the concept. Rather than try and cram a bunch of stuff in a shortened live show they're taking it onto the platforms we gamers thrive on, to provide an All Day event for us. It's a neat idea that can make the awards show for games much more exciting...
