Ryan Phillippe has broken his leg, so Shooter season 2 will stop after 8 episodes (instead of the originally-intended 10)...
While the 2007 Mark Wahlberg-starring suspense thriller Shooter wasn’t the kind of box-office blowout hit that would conventionally yield further revisiting, USA nevertheless decided to make a go of a television series adaptation. While its would-be summer 2016 premiere was delayed, mired in the content-sensitive aftermath of the Baton Rogue police shootings, its eventual November premiere yielded good results. Consequently, a second season was ordered.
That second season has already started airing, but now it's hit problems.
Today, we're hearing that this second season will be shorter than previously expected. The original order was for ten episodes, but production is now stopping after eight because the show's star, Ryan Phillippe, has broken his leg.
The injury took place off set, and was described as a "freak" incident during...

A TV remake of Mark Wahlberg's 2007 conspiracy movie Shooter has been given a pilot order.
The series will be based on the film and the best-selling novel - Point of Impact by Stephen Hunter - that inspired it, Deadline reports.
It will focus on an ex-Marine sniper who is persuaded back into action after learning of a plot to kill the president.
He is then forced to go on the run after he is framed for the murder attempt, and must find out who set him up.
"Shooter takes a fascinating look at a realistic conspiracy and an American hero who emerges from it," said Jackie de Crinis, Evp Original Programming, USA Network. "The script is topical and suspenseful."
The film's star Wahlberg will executive produce the show alongside Stephen Levinson and Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
It was recently announced that the Transformers star is also developing a new HBO comedy show.

Normally, movies that don’t make $100 million worldwide don’t get sequels. And they definitely don’t get TV shows. But Mark Wahlberg isn’t your typical actor/producer. He’s now teamed up with Paramount TV to bring his 2007 film, Shooter, to TNT as a regular series. The film, which itself was based on the novel Point of Impact by Stephen […]

The latest film to be adapted for telly is Shooter, which starred Mark Wahlberg.
So, this one’s come as a bit of a surprise - even considering the recent spate of film properties being adapted for screen (The Devil’s Advocate, Westworld and Minority Report, to name just a few).
The 2007 Mark Wahlberg-headlined thriller Shooter seems an unlikely contender for the same treatment, but Shooter is indeed heading to the small screen.
The televisual adaptation of the film, which was itself an adaptation of Stephen Hunter novel Point Of Impact, is apparently in development at Paramount. Wahlberg himself is believed to be on executive producer duties, along with regular collaborator Stephen Levinson.
The show will be written by John Hlavin of Underworld: Awakening and TV’s The Shield, who will also co-executive-produce.
The film was directed by Antoine Fuqua, with Wahlberg starring as Bob Swagger, a former Us Marine sniper.

Cast your minds back to 2007, and you may recall Mark Wahlberg starring in the fun action thriller Shooter, with Antoine Fuqua directing. Since it was based on the first of a series of novels by Stephen Hunter, there was potential for further adventures for Wahlberg's sniper Bob Lee Swagger. They never materialised, but we may yet see Swagger again. Wahlberg is now developing a TV version in cahoots with TNT, producer Stephen Levinson and screenwriter John Hlavin. In the books Swagger is a Vietnam veteran, responsible for almost 400 kills but haunted by the death of his spotter Donny Fenn. The first novel, Point Of Impact (the one adapted for the film), sees Swagger employed by a secret organisation to protect the Us President, only to find that he's been set up as a patsy in an assassination attempt. Further adventures saw him avenging Fenn, undertaking shenanigans in Japan and on the Nascar circuit,...

Game of Thrones writing pair David Benioff and Db Weiss will make Dirty White Boys their first feature film.
The partners will write and direct the comedic thriller based on Stephen Hunter's novel of the same name.
The film will centre around three mismatched inmates who escape the Oklahoma State Penitentiary and go on the run.
They hide out with a 'convict groupie' who murdered her parents as a teenager, but the incompetence of the escapees threatens to get them caught.
The most recent adaptation of Hunter's work saw Point of Impact filmed as the 2007 Mark Wahlberg-starring Shooter.
Benioff and Weiss are yet to set a schedule for Dirty White Boys, saying that they are still heavily involved in HBO's Game of Thrones.
"This really is a 52-week-a-year job, so it's not like we're out there actively looking," Weiss told Deadline. "But after [writer Scott Frank] recommended it, the book sinks its claws into you,...

They have the most expensive and most-watched series in HBO’s history in the palm of their hands, so it is no surprise that Game of Thrones creators and showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have other creative plans in store. We’re hearing today that duo plan to partner on writing and directing duties for a film adaptation of the crime thriller, Dirty White Boys. They’re signed on to adapt the novel for Fox, but the project may not see much progress until after they wrap up their Emmy-winning HBO series.
Stephen Hunter’s 1995 novel tells the story of Bud Pewtie, a lone state trooper who hunts down three dangerous convicts after they escape from a penitentiary in the Midwest. The author, also a noted film critic for the Washington Post, wrote Point of Impact, which was later adapted into the Mark Wahlberg thriller Shooter.
