Sunn O))) have announced a new 7-inch single and digital release, “Evil Chuck / Ron G Warrior,” as part of Sub Pop Singles Club Vol. 8.
The digital release of the two songs is set for October 25th, with club subscribers receiving the physical 7-inch vinyl copy of the single soon after.
The two new pieces originated from VIP soundcheck recordings from Sunn’s “Shoshin (初心) Duo” tour in 2022/2023 by front of house master Chris Fullard. The material was later refined at Seagrass Studios, with Brad Wood helping to arrange, edit, and produce. Matt Colton cut the vinyl lacquer at Metropolis in London.
“In Sunn O)))’s 25th year, this is an extraordinary ‘full-circle’ moment for us,” the band commented in a press release. “We grew up in north Seattle, began our musical collaboration in Seattle in the early 90’s and were raised on the Sub Pop singles series those days. Oscar-winning Polish cinematographer Janusz Kamiński, best known for his decades-long collaboration with Steven Spielberg, and Stephen Lighthill, who shot the Oscar-nominated doc Berkeley, will be the two special award recipients at this year’s Annual Emerging Cinematographer Awards (Eca).
Kamiński will be honored with the Distinguished Filmmaker Award and Lighthill will accept the ASC Mentor Award.
Kamiński — who has picked up four Academy Award nominations, five BAFTA Awards, and six American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Award nominations across his career — began working with Spielberg in 1993 on Schindler’s List. Since then, the pair have worked together on everything from Saving Private Ryan and Jurassic Park to The Fabelmans. Kamiński has won the best cinematography Oscar twice, with Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan.
Lighthill — who previously served as ASC president — began his career shooting network news and documentaries, including the Oscar-nominated documentary Berkeley, Gimme Shelter, and CBS 60 Minutes.

Judging purely from the downward quality graph of its last few seasons and even the major portion of the final one, it feels like CW’s The Flash should have wrapped things up years ago. Even the most sincere fans of the series will acknowledge that poor writing and being overcrowded by unnecessary characters have absolutely destroyed any sort of significance the series ever had. It makes the realization all the more painful that the impeccable first two seasons of the series were trendsetting in superhero adaptations because they wore qualities like novelty, optimism, and hope on their sleeve. With the series finale releasing, the realization will dawn heavily on the fans who have invested themselves in the series for nine long years, as with the conclusion of the series, the last vestiges of the Arrowverse, the TV universe it was a part of, are gone in a flash too.

This article contains The Flash spoilers.
The Flash begins its final run of episodes with an hour that will delight longtime Arrowverse fans—and sets up a dramatic new possibility for the series’ endgame. “It’s My Party and I’ll Die If I Want To” may be most memorable for the fact that it brings back former Arrow stars Stephen Amell and David Ramsey—as well as The Flash favorite Keiynan Lonsdale—but it’s the show’s massive change to the very fabric of the Arrowverse as it has been understood since the events of the 2020 mega-crossover Crisis on Infinite Earths that may be the most impactful.
It’s hard to imagine an episode where Barry Allen’s death (however brief it might be) is only the third most interesting thing that happens during it, but here we are. Not only does Sendhil Ramamurthy’s villainous Bloodwork attempt...

The DC Multiverse is buzzing with talk of a rumored new project that will reportedly chronicle the story of Val-Zod, a Kryptonian from Earth 2. Michael B. Jordan is said to be developing a limited series centered around Val-Zod for HBO Max. There’s no official confirmation yet, but Jordan is no stranger to superhero movies, having appeared in “Black Panther” and “Fantastic Four.”

Stephen Lighthill has been re-elected president of the American Society of Cinematographers. He was elevated to the post last year, having previously served as president from 2012-13. He will serve his next one-year term alongside vice presidents Amy Vincent, Steven Fierberg and John Simmons; treasurer Steven Poster; secretary Gregg Heschong, and sergeant-at-arms Jim Denault, who were elected by the Society’s board of governors.
“As we safely emerge from the pandemic, we plan to continue to share our expertise on best practices for remote solutions and virtual production in service to the artistic process of filmmaking,” Lighthill said. “We also remain focused on recruiting diverse and inclusive crews as well as supporting underrepresented filmmakers through our scholarship and mentorship programs.”

This article contains Superman & Lois spoilers.
Superman & Lois episode 2 gave us a lot more information on our potential bad guy, and it’s quite a doozy. Superman’s Iron Man-esque foe isn’t Lex Luthor, he’s a Luthor from a parallel Earth, by implication stranded on this one by the events of the Crisis on Infinite Earths. And while Superman & Lois draws a lot from the comics, is this Captain Luthor like another big multiversal Luthor we know from DC Comics as well? Or is he someone entirely different?
The evidence right now points to someone new. Or at least an amalgamation of a few Luthors. And a Lane.
Is Captain Luthor really Alexander Luthor?
There is no shortage of Lex Luthor variants in the comics. There’s the main Dcu Lex, Superman’s top antagonist who periodically turns good, but always reverts to mean. And there are...

Just who is under the Batman’s mask? It’s a question that’s bedeviled many a Gotham City villain, and it also appears poised to tax even the most loyal Dceu fan going forward, with a recent clarification on a New York Times report appearing to suggest Michael Keaton’s reprise of the Dark Knight in The Flash is more than a one-off.
Indeed, Times reporter Brooks Barnes generated additional news over the weekend when he elaborated on a profile piece he filed last month. In the earlier report, DC Films head Walter Hamada revealed DC is embracing a full-throated vision of the multiverse, with Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman cited as occupying what Hamada described as “Earth 1,” and Robert Pattinson’s upcoming interpretation of Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeves’ The Batman existing in “Earth 2.” Presumably this means “Earth 1” is the Dceu since Gadot previously starred opposite Ben Affleck...

It didn’t take long for us to get our first look at the costume Robert Pattinson’s Caped Crusader will be sporting in The Batman, with set photos making their way online that showed the actor’s stunt double kitted out in the full Batsuit almost as soon as the second unit started shooting in the United Kingdom.
Shortly after that, as both a precautionary and reactionary measure, director Matt Reeves swiftly revealed the first official footage of Pattinson under the cowl for the world to see, as well as official images of the former Twilight star next to the Batmobile, presumably because he didn’t want all of the movie’s major surprises spoiled by grainy snaps taken from a distance.

The board of governors at the American Society of Cinematographers on Tuesday elected Stephen Lighthill as its new president. It is the second term in the top spot for Lighthill, who takes over from outgoing Asc president Kees van Oostrum, who had served the maximum four terms.
The Asc board today also voted in vice presidents Amy Vincent, Bill Bennett and John Simmons; treasurer Levie Isaacks; secretary Gregg Heschong; and sergeant-at-arms David Darby.
Lighthill, whose credits range from shooting for 60 Minutes, documentaries like the Rolling Stones pic Gimme Shelter and the Oscar-nominated Berkeley in the Sixties, and TV series like Nash Bridges and Earth 2, previously served as Asc president from 2012-13; he most recently was vice president of the organization. He also long has served as an officer on the National Executive Board of the International Cinematographers Guild, and is also the Discipline Chair: Cinematography at the AFI Conservatory.

Arrow Season 8 Episode 2
How many times have we heard Oliver say, “there’s always another way”? As the old saying goes, history isn’t exactly repeating, but it does rhyme. In Hong Kong back on Earth 1, the pace is necessarily slower and less jaunty after the devastation at the end of the season premiere, but there’s still plenty of old timey Arrow memories, dizzyingly good close combat, and a flash forward to the Diggle brothers to boot.
In so many ways, this episode belonged to the women. Tatsu, Laurel, and Lyla each had their own moments in the spotlight. Arrow’s legacy will be discussed and debated at length, but showrunner Beth Schwartz’s legacy will surely be the meaningful inclusion of far...

The status quo of what we still like to refer to as the “DC Extended Universe” frequently changes with the direction the wind blows in Burbank, so we can only ponder when we’ll again see Superman on the silver screen. For the past year, much speculation has surrounded Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan as being our next Man of Steel, so that’s the notion most often being entertained.
More often than not, digital artwork imagining what Jordan would look like wearing a cape places him in the role of Val-Zod. For those unfamiliar, that fella was the Superman appearing in Earth 2 comic books being published by DC for a time, and I did take a shine to him. The fact that he wore an awesome costume was one easy way to make me a fan of his.

Whether it be in a comic book or in a possible live action film, the mere mention of Flashpoint Batman seems to drive fans nuts these days. And who could blame them? I mean, ever since Thomas Wayne debuted as the Dark(er) Knight in Geoff Johns’ game-changing miniseries back in 2011, he’s amassed quite the cult following.
Barring an adaptation found in 2013’s Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox animated flick, most of us thought we’d seen the last of Thomas as the Caped Crusader (I’m not counting Earth 2). But lo and behold, he resurfaced last year in order to fight alongside his son, Bruce, in The Button.
Funny enough, he made an unexpected cameo this past summer on the closing page to Batman #50, where he was seen standing alongside Bane. At first, I thought this to be a coloring error, but it turned out that’s what was actually going on.

Amid the furore of Henry Cavill’s alleged departure from Warner Bros. and the DC Extended Universe, a curious rumor emerged linking Michael B. Jordan, star of Black Panther and Josh Trank’s ill-fated Fantastic Four reboot, with the seemingly vacant role of Superman.
First reported by Deadline, the story goes that Warner has earmarked Jordan to be the next Man of Steel further down the road, as it’ll be “several years” before the studio is ready to fast-track a standalone Superman movie.
Only The Flash, The Batman and Birds of Prey are expected to enter production next year, while the Powers That Be are reportedly keen to prioritize the Supergirl origin movie that’s now percolating in development. All of this leaves Kal-El out in the cold, and we wouldn’t be too surprised if this contributed to Henry Cavill’s rumored decision to choose The Witcher over the Dceu.

Among the many bizarre aspects of last month’s summit between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un, one was especially overt: a trailer for the event that many assumed was North Korean propaganda before it was revealed that the White House had produced it. Said video didn’t escape the attention of Trailers From Hell, whose Josh Olson describes it as “easily one of the most bizarre and obscure films we’ve ever discussed” as though the Earth 2 reality we’re living through were merely a movie.
“Obviously I’m talking about the sequel to ‘Dr. Strangelove’ starring alleged real-estate tycoon and ’80s relic Donald Trump,” Olson continues in a video shared exclusively with IndieWire. “Set in a near-future in which, through a series of ludicrous mistakes, America actually elects a sociopathic game-show host whose brain is being eaten by syphilis president, it focuses primarily on the meeting between the...

Believe it or not, it’s entirely possible for interesting bits of Justice League trivia to be revealed by sources other than Zack Snyder these days. As it so happens, some intriguing sketches recently surfaced over at Reddit, which we’ll discuss right now.
In fact, the material we’re here to talk about was originally published in the Justice League: Official Collectors Edition book, accompanying an interview with Ciaran Hinds, the actor who voiced Steppenwolf. As you can see below, the invader from Apokolips could’ve appeared quite differently had Snyder and company settled on either of these discarded designs.
What I find oddly humorous to this day is how Steppenwolf’s appearance in Justice League was remarkably different from what was seen via his cameo in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Granted, his guest shot in that particular flick was removed from the theatrical cut, but it...

Ever since Mehcad Brooks was originally cast as James “Jimmy” Olsen for Supergirl, I and others couldn’t help but notice he didn’t quite have the nerdy appearance we’ve come to know from the character. In fact, I maintained from the beginning that he looked much more like a superhero.
In fact, I remember some fans using crafty photo editing to place Brooks as Val-Zod, the Superman known from Earth 2 comics and, trust me, what I saw was quite believable. And although James may not be Kryptonian, I’m guessing the producers working on the series noticed the actor’s impressive build along the way, perhaps influencing them to evolve him into the Guardian.
After giving criminals on the streets of National City one more person to fear throughout season 2, Olsen has since taken a step back from the vigilante lifestyle in season 3, instead focusing on his duties of running CatCo.

For the past few months, it seems like one of the most popular dead horses to beat is that of the idea of Zack Snyder’s fabled cut of Justice League. Now, whether you believe he left the project willingly or was forcefully removed by Warner Bros. and replaced by Joss Whedon is a discussion for another day, but it’s become apparent to all that those two men likely would’ve assembled two remarkably different final cuts.
To be sincere, I did like the film we ultimately received in theaters, but I more so just viewed it as an entertaining action flick that just so happened to feature my favorite characters. Upon taking in Whedon’s quip-ridden dialogue that’s often cringe-worthy, though, I can’t help but wonder how things would’ve played out had Snyder stayed on.

Being someone who’s been looking forward to seeing a Justice League movie for years, I had a shortlist of villains that I expected to serve as the primary antagonist whenever my favorite superheroes eventually teamed up on the big screen for the first time. Obviously, the usual suspects consisted of heavy hitters like Darkseid, Brainiac and the Crime Syndicate. So, you could imagine my shock upon hearing that Zack Snyder settled on Steppenwolf.
My reason for saying that is because, while Steppenwolf is most certainly a formidable villain and was quite the nuisance in the recent Earth 2 comics, he’s essentially Darkseid’s subordinate. Thus, I found it odd that someone such as him would be chosen as the big bad.
On top of that, this past summer saw reliable sources report that Darkseid’s cameo at the end of the flick had been removed altogether, not only...

Keeping the comic book industry’s No Spoiler Left Behind initiative alive, we’ve learned ahead of Batman #24‘s release that one of the most significant developments to be made in the life of Bruce Wayne will indeed go down: He’s proposing to Catwoman! And even though he admitted that he loved her – a big step for him in its own right – a few months back, this still comes as a shocker.
Before going any further, let’s take a look at what series writer Tom King had to say about this bold decision when speaking with USA Today:
“Everyone’s done vengeance, everyone’s done ‘The night is so dark.’ Giving Batman more pain doesn’t reveal anything about his character because he’s taken as much pain as he can. But giving him love and joy, that combines with the tragedy of his past into something new and never done before.

One of the most under-rated actors on this show has to be Candice Patton because her character hasn't had a major event on the show that has truly impacted her. Last night was Patton’s best performance yet, as she made the last moments of Iris West life shine more than any other character. From the beginning of the episode it seemed that Iris had already accepted her fate and knew that no matter what happened in the last 24 hours she was going to die. From the last conversation with her father Joe, to leaving Barry a video of her wedding vows, this show finally had its tough gut check moment for Team Flash. All thanks to the brilliant acting of Candice Patton. The previous two seasons of this show only saw the major events impact Barry and not the entire team, so they haven't had an event where everyone lost someone significant to them.

It’s difficult enough for an actor to be tasked with transforming into a new person — in aspect, personality, movement and spirit — from role to role. But when double duty (or more) is required within the same project, that’s when the real challenge kicks in, because the viewer must be convinced that the same actor is distinctly different when they’re playing both parts in rapid succession, sometimes even side-by side or interacting with each other.
Dating back to shows like “The Patty Duke Show,” “Bewitched” and “I Dream of Jeannie,” the dual role usually allowed for storylines involving twins, cousins or other lookalikes. Even “Knight Rider” stuck a mustache and goatee on David Hasselhoff to give him an evil twin. Over time though, these performances became less campy and more convincing, going beyond the fake hair, goofy costuming or “evil” shortcut trappings. These days, dual roles can be...

Over time though, these performances became less campy and more convincing, going beyond the fake hair, goofy costuming or “evil” shortcut trappings. These days, dual roles can be...

Eight years after Jason Voorhees went to the hell of middling box office returns, New Line Cinema (who snatched up the rights to the character after Paramount squandered the Friday the 13th property into a tired series of faceless slasher sequels) launched their psychotic goalie into that far, far away galaxy where franchises like Critters and Leprechaun had already gone to die — In Space!!! The last-second climax of Jason Goes To Hell promised an ultimate fighting showdown between New Line’s other favorite son, Freddy Krueger, but the studio had to put that dream on hold while Wes Craven completed his final statement with New Nightmare. I swear Moira Queen is the only person who stays dead in the Arrow universe. For those who were upset Katie Cassidy's Laurel Lance was killed off last season, she's back in the fold. EW tells us the actress will rejoin the Arrow team as Earth 2's Black Siren for another crack at the series. Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim shared the following on Cassidy's return:
“One of the things that most excites us about Arrow is that we go where the story takes us. Last year, the story took us to the tragic death of Laurel Lance. This year, our midseason finale reintroduced us to Laurel’s doppelgänger, Black Siren...We were so taken by Katie’s fearless interpretation of this character that we knew her story was not yet finished. We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Katie back to Arrow as Black Siren, though as...

Kate Cassidy's Earth 2 Laurel Lance, Black Siren, has appeared in two episodes of Arrow season 5 and the actress is set to appear in the season finale of Legends of Tomorrow. It turns out that this just the appetizer to the main course. TVLine reports that Cassidy has signed on to be a series regular on Arrow season 6 and she will be playing Black Siren, not any other version of Laurel Lance.

Any other year, Brie Larson not clapping for Casey Affleck as he accepted his Best Actor prize might have been the most notable moment of the Academy Awards. As we now live on Earth 2 and last month’s ceremony ended in perhaps the most shocking moment in Oscars history, however, it may have slipped past more viewers’ attention. During the premiere of “Kong: Skull Island” last night, the actress more or less confirmed the moment’s significance: “I think that whatever it was that I did onstage kind of spoke for itself,” she told Vanity Fair.

"Are you going to The Planet of The Apes?"
Grodd is Back! After a week off The Flash returns with an episode that is more surreal than anything we have seen on The CW. The two-part event brings back some old friends to The Flash universe with the return of Earth 2 Harrison Wells, Jessie Quick, and Grodd.
The overall story line was so different from the normal formula that we have grown accustomed to on The Flash. With the return of Jessie Quick at the end of the last episode we learned the Earth 2 Harrison Wells has been abducted by Gorilla Grodd. Without hesitation Barry, Cisco, Caitlyn, and Julian (Indiana Jones Impostor) travel to Earth 2 to save Wells only to be abducted themselves.
The concept of the episode was very simple with Grodd needing Barry to take down the current leader of the Gorilla's and his name is Solovar.

Arrow is back from its mid-season hiatus! Will it be able to keep the steam that it had in the first half of the season?
The episode picks up immediately where the last episode ended with Laurel explaining that Sara brought her back to life on the WaveRider. After filling Laurel in on what happened over the past 9 months, Oliver goes to visit Diggle. Laurel’s return from the dead would have been extremely believable if they had not ruined the outcome of her true identity from the promos. It seemed conceivable that she was back, and it wasn’t the first time that someone close to Oliver, or from the Lance family, was brought back from the dead.
Felicity and Curtis have their reservations about Laurel’s return, which leads to what we already know; it’s actually the Earth 2 Laurel Lance aka Black Siren.

Next month, DC commences the second phase of its Rebirth initiative as it rolls out new titles such as Justice League of America, Batwoman and, last but not least, Super Sons, which is the focus of our current discussion. Uniting Damian Wayne and Jon Kent, the current versions of Robin and Superboy, respectively, we trust this book will offer much action and excitement, with a hearty helping of youthful exuberance.
Spinning out of concepts introduced by Peter J. Tomasi in the pages of Superman, Super Sons will feature artwork provided by the up and coming Jorge Jimenez. To this point, the interaction between Damian and Jon has been quite entertaining and although teaming up costumed youths is nothing new, it stands to reason that this series will be as different from Teen Titans as...

Whether you’re digging Tom King’s current run on Batman or not, you have to admit that the current two-issue arc is something special. Despite their storied courtship that’s been going on since 1940, Batman and Catwoman don’t meet up as often as one would think, let alone get some alone time – at least “on camera.” Well, there was 2011’s Catwoman #1, which received some undeserved backlash, but that’s a conversation for another day.

While fans were shocked to see the return of Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) in the winter finale of Arrow, the CW jumped the gun in revealing (through a promo) that this isn't the Laurel Lance that died last season. While it hasn't been confirmed 100%, it's a pretty safe bet that this Laurel is the evil Black Siren from Earth 2, who was originally introduced in The Flash last year. While her motivations remain unknown, Arrow producer Greg Berlanti has teased the character's involvement in more than just the events of Arrow's fifth season. “We made a deal at the end of [season 4] to bring her back for a bunch of episodes. Katie is a part of the fabric of the show. Because the show, like a comic book, can move in different ways, and characters go and come, everybody that’s ever been a part of the key and core...

Felicity moved on to a new boyfriend but he wound up murdered by the Green Arrow in the mideason finale. However, Felciity won't blame Oliver and will instead focus on taking down Prometheus, resulting in a possible shift to the dark side. As far as the Laurel Lance cliffhanger, the promo for the midseason premiere pretty much spoiled that it's actually Earth 2's Black Siren, not Laurel in Team Arrow's lair. However, showrunner Wendy Mericle says the Siren's presence and her resemblance to the Laurel that Oliver used to love will have a major impact on Oliver and Felciity moving forward. "[Seeing Laurel (?!)] is a very welcome surprise but there will be… whatever the reverse of a ‘silver lining’ is… when he finds out what’s really going on. It will have a lot of emotional resonance, particularly for him and Felicity.” Back in prison, Spartan aka Diggle will begin...

I met Wayne Brady in 2005 while head writer and segment producer on the Tom Joyner syndicated television show. That sounds like I had some sway but the real head writer and power on most TV shows is the Executive Producer. I was as far away from Ep as Trump is from humble.
Even then, Wayne was a big star as evident by his choice of performance for the show. He decided to sing a song. That may not sound like a big deal, but it is. If known for comedy in Hollywood you’re booked to do comedy.
But if you’re a big enough star you can do whatever your little-overblown ego made you think was a good idea. Thank god most big time actors and singers don’t try and do stand up. That seldom ends well the big names realize...

I've been saying this over and over whenever the issue of Caitlin's heel turn to Killer Frost comes up or is hinted at on this show: they're getting it right. And holy moley, the actual episode, Killer Frost didn't disappoint in that regard. The Flash was an absolute masterclass in how you toy with the long-term fate of a beloved character, bring her all the way to the brink, and give fans heart conditions in the process.
There are simply so many ways that they've managed to nail the Killer Frost transformation, but there's one key here: patience.

“Flash Needs To Take A Long Look In The Mirror”
Apologies for not having this up sooner but I was didn't get a chance to watch this episode until last night.
The return of Leonard Snart and the creation of Mirror Master. Tuesday nights episode of The Flash was just as predictable as a majority of the episodes we have already seen from the previous two seasons. The opening scene is a short origin of the latest villain affected by the particle accelerator. Then there is ten to fifteen minute story line involving something with Barry and Iris. This week it was about Barry’s awkwardness around Joe when kissing Iris. This made absolutely no sense to me at all since Joe has known for quite some time that Barry love’s Iris. There was a significant change in tone this episode from the previous two episodes. With such a serious tone with Flashpoint and Barry’s effects in Paradox it was nice to see a lighter tone to last night’s episode. With Barry and the team moving on from the past and living with their mistakes it now allows the storyline to move forward. Although this weeks’ lacked in the villain storyline, everything else in this episode was magnificent.
These were three biggest takeaways from last night’s episode:
The growth of relationships on this episode.
Except for Cisco and Caitlyn this episode focused on the growth of different relationships throughout the team. The relationship between Harrison and Jessie continues to be a work in progress but it seems for the better after this week. Although from a different universe it seems that Flashpoint had some effect on Harrison and Jessie.

When Jeffrey Dean Morgan was cast as Thomas Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, many fans couldn’t help but picture him as some kind of version of The Dark Knight. After all, he’s without a doubt the most macho onscreen version of Bruce’s father we have seen to date. And, let’s not forget, he recently expressed interest in playing a certain version of Batman who hails from an alternate reality.
Well, apparently Morgan’s desire has not subsided and he recently had this to say regarding Zack Snyder’s decision to cast him:
“Maybe when he cast me that was kind of the goal. Hopefully DC can figure this all out, and in a few years I can come back and do a Flashpoint Batman! I would love it. That would be great.”
He is, however, quick to clarify that it remains a dream,...

In anticipation of tomorrow's season 3 premiere of The Flash, we have some new concept art from Andy Poon and Maya Mani. As you can see, the designs for Kid Flash and Black Siren aren't a million miles away from the final character costumes, but The Rival looks quite a bit different. Many fans were left unimpressed by this new character's somewhat bizarre appearance, and would probably have preferred something more like this - but then it's easy to see why they went a different route, as he does look a little too much like season 2 baddie, Zoom. I'm changing throwback Thursday to Flashback Thursday. The Flash returns tonight with a brand-new status quo, thanks to Barry's decision to save his mother from death at the conclusion of season 2. The third season, based on the "Flashpoint" storyline in the comics, finds Barry in a comfortable life, with both of his parents alive, and plenty of different circumstances for him and his friends. Fans who are familiar with the comic version of Flashpoint know that Barry teamed up with Thomas Wayne's Batman to fix the timeline. While there's no sight of Batman (yet) on the CW, fans wondered if we may see Green Arrow's father, Robert Queen in Thomas' place, especially since the show hinted at Robert also being the Green Arrow of Earth 2 last season. Showrunner Andrew Kreisberg confirmed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that there are some nods to the comic storyline, but their version of the story will be a lot more personal.

When The Flash returns with its much talked about “Flashpoint” premiere event, we know to expect several radical changes to the timeline, namely Cisco Ramon being an affluent tech giant and Wally West having adopted the mantle of The Flash – but don’t call him “Kid Flash.”
One character, however, who may not be as affected by the change – aside from not having much familiarity with Barry Allen – is that of Candice Patton’s Iris West. Taking her recent discussion with Entertainment Weekly into account, it seems as though we won’t be seeing an Iris that was as radically different as on Earth 2 – and even then she still was a constant in Barry’s life.
Here’s what she had to say:
“She’s a fixed point for Barry Allen, so no matter where we see her, no matter where we find her, she’s still very similar...

Comic Books: The DC Universe-then And Now!
Recently I wrote an article for introducing new readers to the world of Batman. The purpose of the article was to help new and casual readers find strong starting points in the characters 75+ years of publication to begin reading. It was suggested that perhaps to coincide with these types of articles; it would be helpful to have a sort of reference point for major content-altering events in the DC Comics Universe, along with perhaps a quick glossary of some key words used in the Comic Book Vernacular. My goal here will be to hopefully give a brief but well-presented breakdown of the DC Universe from inception to the current state. Keep in mind this will only be covering the major continuity/time altering events, and will not each and every company event that’s been published.

When Zoom met his downfall during the season 2 finale of The Flash, not everybody seemed to notice the many subtleties of his transformation upon being attacked by Time Wraiths – some people I know certainly didn’t. The obvious change was in his skin, which no longer maintains much of a silky smooth quality. Those who blinked, however, may have neglected to see his lightning change from blue to red, as well as his logo changing to white and red, among other minor costume alterations.
Long story short, Hunter Zolomon has now taken on the persona of Black Flash, a character who is essentially Death when it comes to speedsters. This likeness has been adopted by a variety of people in the comics and, although the TV show is likely taking some liberties, I highly doubt many people will complain because the end result is usually pretty stellar when it comes to The Flash.
