The Single Most Important Work in the History of Man
howardtheduck-531 July 2010
There is so much I could say about this movie. The cinematography, the music, the allegory...bittersweet indeed. The child actors...so young, so full of talent. Tum tum's impassioned cry of "scccraamble!!!" brings tears to my eyes and joy to my soul. There are no words. But maybe there are: Breathtaking. Original. Quality. Innovation. Family. Love. Peace. And violence. But beyond it all, the ultimate moment of this film arrives not near the conclusion, but in the subtle beauty and grace of Nurse Shibuya (played by the irreplaceable Glen Chin, in the finest role of his illustrious career). See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GusQxS9pRTw

I can say no more without dulling the gleam of this artistic vision.

Fight on, brave ninjas, fight on.

cool
starsaturn336 January 2001
Growing up, I really loved these movies. Sean Fox was the end-all be-all for me. I don't think that now, but I love this movie. The action, although corny, is still really awesome. Again, this is NO JACKIE CHAN, by any standards. But still, little kids as ninjas?? Also, Miyo was cool. Adding that little love story between her and Rocky was a given, but it was sweet. I love the part when he totally screws up the pitch because he keeps on thinking there are Lisa DiMarino's everywhere. And, "We should run!" "We should hide!" "LET'S KICK THEIR BUTTS!!!!!!!" LOL!

Again, I really am a kiddie-movie person, but I love this movie. If you're the same kind of person, rent this movie!!!

blast from the past
suddenlysteve22 August 2010
what a fantastic blast from the past. the comedy, the generic character dynamics, and the morals hold up even now more than a decade later.

the movie centers around 3 children - rocky, colt, and tum tum (the last who is too young to be anything but comedic relief) and their quest to help their grandfather return a mythical dagger. but along the way, they utilize their grandfather's teachings on being a ninja (using "ninjuity" - their words, not mine) and begin an adventure that strikes of an indiana jones tale on a smaller, tamer scale.

the camera pans are excellent - probably an unnoticed feature of the movie is the way they show first person perspective, and the way they shoot japan from the perspective of the 3 ninjas. the comedy is gold (at least for the time).

the movie is designed for children and engages in childish humor - you have silly slapstick, childish repartee, fart jokes, and the whole gamut of tame childhood morals and experiences.

i have never seen any other 3 ninjas movie, but i do know i saw this one over and over again when i was a kid. i heavily recommend it for kids although adults won't appreciate it as much or at all if they're seeing it for the first time. otherwise the nostalgia factor is super high.

I call this film FUN! If you liked Home Alone, you will love this movie too!!
Gloryous5 November 2006
I like watching these films where the kids are strong enough to fight against the bad guys. I guess it reminds me of the Little Rascals. I will always make time to see this film. It is a great family show, kids, and adults will not have to be bored watching it. There is plenty of action. The boys have a grandfather that teaches them how to protect themselves and all about the heritage of the Ninja. The boys love their grandfather, and manage to get into trouble, but get out of it too because of what they learned from the grandfather. They love being with him, and enjoy his company. If you liked home alone then you will love this movie too. There is non stop action, and fight scenes geared to the family, no bad language, but loads of laughs as they beat up on the bad guys. Entertainment and fun. You cannot beat that combination!

summing up the movie and its awsomeness
Ross122325 November 2003
Shhh, i cant hear. Whats that? 3 Ninjas Kick back is the best movie ever? Yeah thats right it is!!! Way better than the first one, the gang travels to Japan to help out grampa. This movie is jam packed with action and it has ninjas which is always good. After i saw the first movie, i thought to myself, "how can they possibly top this?" Well guess what, they did! This one is so much better. Straight up non stop action. The music totally rocked too. I give it a 10 out of 10 as far as kiddie ninjas in japan flicks go.

Go Ninjas Go!
sethn17219 April 2006
Yes, the 3 Ninjas are back in action, and this time, they are going world class! (As Ron Stoppable would say, "Tokyo on a school night!" LOL)

Heh, I like how this movie goes: the 3 Ninjas are in America...or somewhere...and suddenly, there's a storm brewing in Japan! (Not really; I'm just using dramatics here!) The 3 Ninjas must make their way over there and kick some...well, you get the idea.

I agree with those people who think that this is great and that this doesn't deserve of Bottom 100 material. I like the first one and it is great! Now this one is excellent, as with that "High Noon at Mega Mountain" one. This movie gets, oh, how shall I put it down in writing? "10 Stars!" The "3 Ninjas" movies are sure to get a kick (and a punch) out of you as you are watching!

Bad, bad, bad
Jared G.3 October 1999
Did a sequel really need to be made? Was the first movie that big a success? The series gets even worse after this one, and I am left wondering how far the premise of three kids beating up any bad guys that dare show themselves can be taken.

I loved this movie!!!
lasianap21 September 2004
I loved this movie, I'm a girl and I love action movies. Especially Karate and stuff. I also do Karate so i guess when I chose this movie I knew that it would be really good! My favorite actor in the movie has got to be Max Elliott Slade (Colt), I just think that he is so hot! Not only that but talented too. Too bad he's not acting anymore, or is his? If anyone has any in formation on him please let me know. I would really like to know if he is still acting. Well as for the movie I think that it is really good and I would love to see the sequels. Also it's a shame that some of the actors could not be in all of the movies. But these things happen.

This way, kids... The pizza's this way... (trap goes off) HA! Gotcha!
fullonrobotchubby15 August 2006
Is there anything more conniving, more desperate to make a buck, and more putrid than the 3 Ninjas franchise? Here's how it all began: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles became a huge success for young 'uns, as did Home Alone with all its child-hero-kicking-bad-guy-butt glory. Cram those two into the Kid-Flick-o-Matic, and look what comes out onto the plate: 3 Ninjas, complete with pizza and Nickelodeon-friendly villain traps. When the creators captured their already developed audience (I'll be honest, myself included), they raked up what cash they made and grinded out this somehow even less inspired sequel. This was my last 3 Ninjas film. My favorite scene? Sheesh, I've done everything in my power to completely forget this movie, but I vaguely recall middle ninja Colt trying to impress some girl on a street basketball court. I guess that will have to do. I don't want to waste much more time on this gunk, but thanks to 3 Ninjas Kick Back, I learned a valuable lesson at the age of twelve: When Hollywood wants a light snack, nothing beats the taste of gullible children.

another great movie:)
moviegurlEst424 March 2003
well, I don't care what others say about this movie. it is a wonderful sequel and although I liked the two ninjas they had in the first one, they did a good job replacing them, for whatever reason that they did. But to me it is still a ninja movie b/c it still has my fav ninja in it and it still has Grandpa. and they do a great job at making it feel like the other two had always been there.I love that this shows more of their sacrificial side and how when they find out that Grandpa is in trouble they drop every thing and will stop at nothing to get to him and help him. unlike most movies nowadays, it's clean and entertaining. that is amazing:) I really love it as I do the first and third ones. Even though they disagree a lot in the movie, they never once use their "Ninja Knowledge" to take on each other:) It's a wonderful movie, I've grown up with it and I thank God for the memories that I have with it.

Finally got to see this
ThunderKing67 October 2020
Its such a 90s movie. Nowhere near the first.

Fighting scenes are way goofer. It's basically a goofier movie compared to the first.

I wasn't really paying attention in the last bit. All I remember was the evil guys turned good not sure why.

Maybe it was a lil boring.

The Asian girl was meh. You can tell she wasn;t an actor or cared about acting. They probably seen her at an anime convention and was like "hey girl, you got the part".

I am offended how the female can beat up on the males in this movie. How about male beat up on females for once?

Last scene was terribly executed.

Verdict: I still have to see 3 ninjas 2.

It didn't need a sequel. Here's proof.
MovieAddict20163 February 2004
Another ridiculous "3 Ninjas" film involving the new adventures of the three kids trained by their grandfather in the way of the ninja. Stupid, dumb, pointless sequel to a film that didn't need any. I rented all these out simultaneously and, after they were all over, I felt like burning the copies.

Silly, And Very Funny
byson51863 December 2018
If you've seen this movie, you might be around my age and saw it when you were a kid. I remember getting this movie from a video rental store, back when video rental stores were a big deal. It doesn't seem like a movie that has lived on, or watched by kids of today. But, even so I feel like the characters: Rocky, Colt, and Tum Tum are memorable characters. More memorable than most movie siblings. For some reason, they've always reminded me of the brothers in Malcolm In The Middle, since I've been familiar with that show.

Anyway, this movie is an unnecessary movie and it's a very silly movie. Pretty much the whole movie is silly, hardly anything is serious. The cheese factor of this movie might be a reason we don't want to watch it feeling like it's a silly kids movie. But, even so this movie is hilarious. I don't see how you could not crack up while watching this movie? The humor in this movie will probably crack you up more than the humor in a lot of other movies. While this movie is silly, it is undeniably very funny. The hospital scenes with the nurses were pretty clever and funny, including a giant scary nurse, lol.

This movie is also cool, because it shows martial arts ninja style which naturally seems intriguing. It takes us to Japan, to make the movie more interesting. That being said, I feel like they could have done a better job of showing us around Japan, at least Tokyo and given us more of a feel of actually traveling to Japan. For example, a movie that came out later that also involves traveling to another country and martial arts is the 2010 Karate Kid. That's entertaining because it presents a feel of being in China. I feel like Japan in this movie was presented mostly for the martial arts scenes, and plot of good guys vs bad guys.

The plot of the movie also gets slightly interesting with an Indiana Jones/National Treasure plot. There is a legendary, supposedly hidden Cave Of Gold that could possibly only be accessed by having certain weapons including a dagger we see in the movie. However, while this plot makes the movie more interesting, it wasn't a well-written plot, not the same as in Indiana Jones or National Treasure.

If we see these movies we probably remember the love interests of Rocky. Including in the first one, that memorable chant from the brothers, "Rocky Loves Emily." Well, in this movie we're introduced to another ninja character a female ninja named Miyo. One very tough girl, and skilled martial artist. She is a well-written character.

One other comment to make with this movie, and you might get mad and strongly disagree, but to me personally this movie has what has to be one of the best movie ending scenes ever. I feel like most movies do not have very strong or memorable ending scenes. But, the ending scene is definitely memorable and might have you laughing. A good way to end a comedic non-serious movie. A very strong ending indeed!!

So yeah, this movie is very silly enough to probably keep you from wanting to watch it. But, even so I bet if you gave it a try, you'd probably have a nice laugh watching this!! After all, laughter is the best medicine, hee-hee-hee!!

Don't think even the kids will enjoy this one
pkzeewiz5 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
I haven't watched these movies since they first came out so I had to see if there was anything there. There isn't! I just watched part one and I remembered it not being that good, but it was the 90's and it was added to the long list of bad movies aimed at kids. Now watching this one, the dreaded sequel I find its not aimed at anyone. Yea there's kids jumping and yelling and throwing kicks and punches any 4 year old could master and they were up against idiots and so called ninjas and it was just hilarious.

This one didn't even seem to have anything. The first one entertained kids, but this sequel was just like a bad episode of the power rangers or something...

They replaced Rocky and Tum Tum from the first movie which was fine by me, The kid playing Tum Tum was way better. I heard this movie was made long after the 3rd part but released first so I don't know the details.

I recommend if you must allow your kids to watch these kind of movies get the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Karate Kid or even if you must have 3 Ninjas choose the first part over this one, because this movie sucks.

Tried too hard
Calicodreamin4 May 2022
Tried way too hard to replicate the formula that made its predecessor cult classic good. The acting was lame, the storyline even lamer, just not good bad tv.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Nic6737 September 1999
We live in the smartest society in the world. Some genius had to come up with the idea of making a sequel 3-Ninjas,which was just as awful. What can you give this film? There just nothing intelligent about Kids-Family films. Most kids under the age of six would not actually watch this movie or find interesting. The acting, plot, direction, and plausibility is unbearable and gives you the urge of just dying in place from watching this turkey.

Is a cutie, but the movie is so boring and silly...
RosanaBotafogo7 September 2022
In Los Angeles, three martial arts expert brothers aim to help their baseball team win the championship in the decisive match. But they have to change their plans to answer the call of their grandfather, who is being threatened by an old and evil rival in Japan. Fifty years ago, grandfather won a magic sword in a martial arts tournament. Now your opponent, defeated in that tournament, wants to seize the trophy...

I always try to watch movies about children with good eyes, just like the little ones I try to see with the eyes of love, but some can't, for example, in this copy, almost all boring, the little one even steals the scene in some good moments with sausage sir who is a cutie, but the movie is so boring and silly...

Also known as Karate Kid Part 2
Smells_Like_Cheese29 June 2006
This plot was just too similar to Karate Kid Part 2, it was just so stupid. But I rented these movies for my cousin because for some reason, he enjoys them. But I can see why, I mean it has kid's humor and a happy ending. My only problem though was the fact that once again there were three idiot's who were the "Rockers" and couldn't harm one kid because as usual, they're too stoned to realize what's going on. The villain seems harmless and just happens to have a change of heart like the Karate Kid movies, mainly Part 2. If you've seem 'em too, you know what I mean. While the 3 Ninja movies are good for the kids, I have to admit even for them, it's still a little too silly.

3 Ninjas Kick Back
ChrisOfficial14 July 2013
Another amazing comeback into the 3 Ninjas series. "3 Ninjas Kick Back".

3 Ninjas Kick Back was also a classic and really good kids family film. A kick-butt action-comedy-family film. The boys, Max Elliott Slade, Sean Fox, and Evan Bonifant were so awesome! 3 Ninjas Kick Back was so funny and full of true Martial Arts. Victor Wong who starred as Grandpa he did great and connected very well with the boys in this one as well. Charles T. Kanganis who directed film. Awesome job! Sang-OK Shin and Mark Saltzman thanks for writing such a amazing kick-butt story. 3 Ninjas Kick Back truly rocks!

We all remember watching this one too as a kid and watching it via Television whenever it showed. 3 Ninjas Kick Back was always a joy to watch because truly it rocks and kicks-butt. There's nothing negative about the film itself. I recommend it for everyone and you should check it out if you haven't today. If you loved the other additions you'll love this one 3 Ninjas Kick Back will rock your world! these boys are amazing.

As A child I loved this movie!
jesoneric15 June 2006
Watching the movie now, yes I could see why it would get horrible scores. but as a 7 year old boy this movie was one of my all time favorites. Me and my brother would watch it all the time. We truly loved it. But that was when I was a simpler person. Back then I would have given it a 10, and now I would have given it probably a 4 or so. But for nostalgic purposes I will put it at a 7. I would easily go back and watch this movie just to relive my good ol' childhood days. It was all cheesily done, but the bad guys had a nice comical touch to it. And I remember enjoying the voice over for the grandpa that the kids made... Oh... those were the days...

Next stop, Japan
orient_celts3 June 2006
In this third installment, the brothers travel to Japan after realizing an accidental switch of bags had happened at the airport after the Douglas family gave Mr. Shintaro a lift to the airport.

One of the bags contained the ceremonial dagger essential at the Annual Ninja Competition where their grandfather was invited to attend. But after a freak accident their grandfather experienced whilst on the highway upon his arrival in Japan, Mori asks his grandsons to take his place at the ceremonies and instructs them to give dagger to the winner of the tournament. Unknown to the brothers, there is a mystery behind the dagger and an old competitor, is after it for the dagger holds the key to the secret behind an ancient treasure chamber...

Most of the original cast members return for the second film installment. Except for the roles of Rocky (Sean Fox) and Tumtum (Evan Bonifant),they were played by different actors this time around. The change took a while to set in since I was still used to seeing the former actors who portrayed the respective roles from the first film. Reprising the role of Colt is Max Elliot Slade.

One of the issues seen on the film was letting the kids find themselves. That was interesting to watch since it gave more depth on the kids' parents and their wishes for their sons.

Watching this next film gave a little wider field for the brothers. We see them now preoccupied with baseball and Colt's apparent difficulties in throwing the shuriken. But with practice and confidence he can apply what he has learned (in ninja training)in baseball as well. I loved it when they made home run. Max somersaulting to the home base was a nice touch. Fantastic! The brothers also met Miyo (Caroline Junko King) the winner of the ninja competition where she refined the brothers' ninja skills during their brief stay in Japan and at the same time they, in turn help her with her baseball catching technique having failed to enter in the previous tryouts.

All in all, Colt controls his anger while Miyo perfects in catching the ball at the baseball match and the brothers' team wins.
