- In later versions of the movie, the reference of UBS meaning "Union de Bank Swiss" is changed to "United Bank of Syria."
- 28 seconds were cut by the BBFC for the 18-rated UK cinema version, removing the following:
- The scene with Johnny C being threatened with a flick knife, along with the attempt to pull his tongue out with pliers
- Kruger kicking a gangster into an open fridge and pulling his shoulder to break his neck
- DeGuerin's pistol whip to Lee
- Kruger twisting Haggerty's head into a headlock then breaking his neck
- A shot of Lee being threaten by Sergei Ivanovich Petrofsky with a flick knife
- Three minutes and 22.5 seconds were cut for the UK video versions, with a downgrade to a 15 certificate. Among the cuts were edits to swearing, assorted footage of punches and closeups of wounds, knife scenes, neck breaks, bloody bullet impacts and more, along with heavy cuts to the climactic scene of a train crashing into a car.
- All previous UK cinema and video cuts were fully waived by the BBFC in February 2009, for a planned DVD/Blu-Ray release. This release never happened, but the uncut version is the version aired by 5* and TCM on TV in the UK.
