[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for La Brea Season 3 Episode 4 “Fire Storm.”] At this point, Gavin (Eoin Macken) should just expect more major family reveals on La Brea. The latest gives him answers in the 2021 timeline. Gavin’s taken at gunpoint by a mysterious woman just as he’s waiting to meet his contact, with Ty (Chiké Okonkwo) and Sam (Jon Seda) waiting outside. Eventually, that woman introduces herself as Helena (Emily Wiseman), Gavin’s half-sister(!), and together, they hid the microchip—in 10,000 B.C., Maya (Claudia Ware) tells Gavin it’s the key to the military weaponizing time travel—to try to put a stop to that project. They have the same father, who only cared about his work: time travel. It’...

Fire!!! Apparently, dinosaurs, missing friends, a mysterious military base, and assorted personality clashes just aren’t enough. NBC’s La Brea ups the ante with season three episode four, adding a raging fire mere miles from the fort as yet another problem our trusty time travelers will have to deal with.
Episode four, the appropriately named “Fire Storm,” kicks off in LA in 2021. Ty (Chike Okonkwo) and Sam (Jon Seda) are growing antsy waiting outside a diner for Gavin’s contact to show up. Inside, Gavin (Eoin Macken) is approached by a woman he doesn’t recognize but who seems to know him.
It turns out the woman has canceled Gavin’s real meeting and needs him to go with her if he wants to continue breathing.

Michael Strahan isn’t averse to throwing a jab at a colleague, especially on the set of one of his favorite shows.
The 52-year-old appears regularly on Good Morning America, where he’s had playful banter with Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, and others.
Before landing on GMA, he started with Fox NFL Sunday to help present pre-game, halftime, and post-game coverage.
On the NFL program, his friends and co-analysts include Curt Menefee, Jimmy Johnson, Terry Bradshaw, and Howie Long.
A recent episode of Fox’s show featured hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg, who stars in the new Amazon Prime movie The Underdoggs.
Since the movie is about football and Strahan has worked with Snoop before, it’s no surprise the Fox NFL crew appears in the film.

Sure, the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be the biggest franchise in the history of cinema, but it took an army of filmmakers and independent superheros to become what it is. If there is one, single unquestioned king of the box office, it is undoubtedly James Cameron. The man, as it stands, has made three of the four highest-grossing movies of all time, with "Avatar," "Avatar: The Way of Water," and "Titanic." The latter was released way back in 1997 and it still managed to cross the 2 billion mark in global ticket sales, something no other film did until (checks notes) "Avatar" in 2009. In its initial run, the film earned 1.84 billion, before subsequent re-releases took it all the way up to 2.19 billion.
No other film in history had a run quite like that of "Titanic," which topped the charts at the domestic box office for an absolutely staggering 15 weekends in a row.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Season 8, Episode 11, of The Flash, “Resurrection.” If you don’t want to be spoiled, go rewatch the first season when Ronnie Raymond was alive.] Death clearly becomes Robbie Amell. Even before his gig as the deceased Nathan in Prime Video’s terrific Upload, the cousin of Arrow star Stephen Amell was killing it with a series of demises as The Flash‘s Ronnie Raymond. Introduced in Season 1 as Caitlin’s (Danielle Panabaker) structural-engineer bf-turned-husband and offed in the finale when his half of Firestorm was vaporized in the Singularity, Amell has made a handful of return visits—and each one culminated in whatever version of his character he was playing meeting some dead end. And now he’s back again, only this time, he’s playing Deathstorm—basically, Earth-2’s anti-Ronnie—and causing major chaos. For a bit, we thought the big bad was this fire-meta, but it was revealed at the end...

This week I have a brilliant Q and A with Sumyra of Lucky Target Comics. I discovered Lucky Target Comics last summer after seeing a Tweet from the writer of Alex Automatic, Fraser Campbell. He had scored an excellent collection of Daredevil issues from the site, a number of which I myself had on my want list. The site is easy to navigate and find the issues you are looking for. They offer a good selection of newer and older back issues, as well as trade paperbacks and bundles of complete runs. More sellers should be doing this in my opinion. It is a great way to attract readers who are either completely new to comics or old fans looking for something new to read. I found everything I wanted at the time more than reasonably priced. I was able to check off some later 200 issues of Daredevil as well...

“Truth in advertising” awards are few and far between. Assuming someone somewhere is still giving out “truth in advertising” awards, The Rookies (Su ren te gong), an international co-production co-written and directed by Alan Yuen, certainly wouldn’t get one. For its Western release, the advertising for The Rookies, including the trailer and poster, place longtime Resident Evil action-star Milla Jovovich front-and-center, towering over lesser, less significant mortals. In a film pushing the two-hour mark, Jovovich receives roughly 10-15-minutes total screen time. Disappointment will surely follow and not just for Jovovich’s hardcore fans. Anyone expecting even a modest respect for the rules of storytelling, character, or physics will find themselves on the wrong side of the disappointment divide. Not that...

Lame humor and incoherent plotting are among the shortcomings of “The Rookies,” an initially engaging but increasingly tedious Chinese action-comedy-thriller that not even kick-ass movie queen Milla Jovovich can breathe much life into. Undemanding genre fans might go for this Budapest-set hodge-podge about rookie secret agents tackling a deranged billionaire, but there’s not much here for anyone else. After flopping in Chinese cinemas way back in July 2019 it seems very strange for “The Rookies” to be receiving limited U.S. theatrical release on April 16, 2021.
Working six years after his impressive action spectacular “Firestorm,” writer-director Alan Yuen hasn’t lost his knack for well-staged mayhem and destruction. But along with co-writers Lei Xu and Kong Yun-cheung, Yuen falls short of the mark when injecting comedy into the mix. that extinguishes suspense and makes it hard for audiences to care about such silly, one-dimensional characters.

I should have known better considering I’ve seen two Alan Yuen films before: a directorial effort in Firestorm that forgets its unwavering severity in the third act to deliver farcical chaos and a screenwriting effort in Monster Hunt wherein the lead is a pregnant man with the salvation of monster-kind cooking in his belly. I should have known the American trailer for his latest work The Rookies was manipulated beyond its desire to pretend Milla Jovovich was its star. While that was obviously not the case (a common ruse studios use to shield audiences from realizing they are walking into a foreign language film—although this one being fully dubbed was a surprise), the Chinese James Bond aesthetic did at least seem real.
If I had gone back to remember those previous films, however, I would have at least been prepared for how wrong that assumption proves. Because while...

This The Flash article contains spoilers for Season 7, Episode 5, “Fear Me”.
The Flash’s “Fear Me” is an entertaining enough Season 7 installment that gets to play with a long-standing genre trope, that of an outside entity – think demon, alien, magical dust, or, in this case, a metahuman known as Psych who’s able to project nightmare hallucinations onto others – who somehow allows us to explore the deepest fears of our favorite characters.
But it’s also an hour of The Flash that does something so necessary, that it needs to be applauded in its own right: It’s the first episode in which Caitlin and her icy alter ego Frost get to exist as two entirely separate people. It’s a twist that’s long overdue, and one that finally gives both women the chance to have real, meaningful arcs of their own.

Like any TV show that goes on for long enough, The Flash has had its fair share of actors and characters coming and going. One of the former members of its ensemble of stars, though, Robbie Amell, is certainly open to returning.
Amell appeared throughout the show’s first season as Ronnie Raymond, Caitlyn’s fiancé who was originally thought killed in the particle accelerator explosion that birthed metahumans, but had actually merged with nuclear physicist Dr. Martin Stein into the superhero Firestorm. In the season 2 premiere, it was quickly revealed that the episode title “The Man Who Saved Central City” referred not to Barry as you would naturally presume, but Ronnie, who sacrificed his life to close the black hole singularity created by Team Flash’s meddling with time in a failed attempt to eliminate the threat of Reverse-Flash.

Much like their Arrow counterpart, Barry Allen’s team on The Flash has gone through significant changes over the years, but despite many colorful newcomers, fans still miss Robbie Amell’s Firestorm.
The CW’s Arrowverse is no stranger to bringing dead characters back. In fact, the network and its storytellers have come under fire multiple times for resurrecting characters to serve plot convenience. Even in the “Crisis” event, the writers killed off Oliver only to have him come back as Spectre in the next episode. So, would it be too much of a stretch to assume that they’re eventually going to return to Ronnie Raymond’s Firestorm?
Of course, Robbie Amell has reprised his role several times in the form of alternate Ronnies from different Earths, and even our original Firestorm from Earth-1 in flashbacks, but can we expect the character to properly return to the show one day?...

Robbie Amell was a major part of The Flash in its debut season as Ronnie Raymond, fiancee to Caitlin Snow and the original Firestorm. However, he died off-screen before season 2, sacrificing himself to close the wormhole that had opened up above Central City. Since then, he’s returned for a couple of guest spots. First, as Ronnie’s evil Earth-2 doppelgänger Deathstorm and then as a mirage within the Speed Force.
He hasn’t been seen on the show since season 3, however. While speaking to ComicBook.com, Amell revealed that he would “love” to drop by the DC universe once again, but he also made a very good point about how it’s difficult to bring back old characters into the Arrowverse shows, as it’s hard to fit them into the plot without them stealing screentime away from the regular cast.
“I would always go back to The Flash,” Amell said.

Robbie Amell, who once played Firestorm in the Arrowverse, is currently busy taking in the reception for his new movie called Code 8, but the actor has now said that he’d be open to reprising his role in The Flash as Ronnie Raymond.
Robbie stars as the main protagonist in the new sci-fi project along with his cousin Stephen Amell, who in the Arrowverse plays the part of the Green Arrow/Oliver Queen. On The Flash, the actor showed up as a Star Labs scientist who got his powers after the explosion of the particle accelerator. Ronnie then merged with Professor Martin Stein and became Firestorm, but ultimately succumbed to a heroic death by saving Central City from a singularity.

When Legends of Tomorrow originally premiered a few years back, the concept was essentially a C-list Justice League travelling through time – but it worked. Consisting mostly of heroes and villains established on other Arrowverse shows, the series set itself apart from its brethren in short order.
But as time wore on, various members of the cast exited. This is something to be expected with any TV show, but this baby has hemorrhaged its share of heroes. If you’re keeping score, we’ve lost Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Captain Cold, Rip Hunter and both halves of Firestorm. In their place, we got (Citizen) Steel, Zari (we can’t call her Isis) and John Constantine, with Kid Flash and Vixen providing temporary relief.
That said, it appears as though DC Comics may not be able to provide new additions to the roster who are, you know, actually from comic book lore, as they...

After months of speculation, anticipation, and plenty of rumors, it seems that Robert Pattinson has been confirmed to play the starring role in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Needless to say, the official announcement has been met with middling reception – longtime DC devotees took to Twitter to share their reactions, which seem to be an equal mix of disappointment, skepticism, and tentative faith.
Since that particular casting decision is set in stone though, the internet has now begun to do what it does best and wildly speculate about who will play the supporting characters. A few Hollywood A-listers have already expressed interest in joining the project – with Marvel’s Sebastian Stan looking to play The Riddler – and a new suggestion from a comic book veteran has begun to make some waves.

Event Leviathan #1, the first chapter of the new DC crossover, kicks off by destroying the entire clandestine DC community.
One of the greatest Suicide Squad stories of all time is "The Janus Directive." The crossover ran in 1989 between Suicide Squad, Checkmate, Manhunter, Firestorm, and Captain Atom. Over the course of 12 chapters, it pulled in most of the clandestine superhero services in the DC universe for Amanda Waller's incredibly intricate mole hunt. In the process, the Squad, Checkmate, Peacemaker, Firestorm, Captain Atom, the Cbi (the in-universe analogue for the CIA), and Force of July all get into it with each other until Waller reveals that she's been manipulating them all to stop Kobra from taking over the world.
I bring this up because from what I've seen in Action Comics and in this preview of Event Leviathan #1, I think it might also be Brian Michael Bendis' favorite Suicide Squad story.

Superman is key to the very fabric of the DC Universe, and Doomsday Clock is using Watchmen concepts to explore this.
This article contains massive Doomsday Clock spoilers.
Since its launch, Doomsday Clock has promised to answer all our questions about the post-Rebirth DC Universe, and in the process solve some problems left over from New 52 continuity. With the release of Doomsday Clock #10, a great many of those issues start to get resolved.
Doomsday Clock is the Geoff Johns/Gary Frank comic that is integrating the iconic characters from Watchmen into the DC universe proper. It attempts to be as complicated and geopolitically relevant as its predecessor, turning the original’s nuclear panic to a metahuman arms race and placing Firestorm, Russia, Black Adam and Khandaq, and Superman at the center of a rapidly escalating global conflict that, at the end of Doomsday Clock #8, had very nearly...

Despite all of its divisiveness, I believe the DC Extended Universe existing on the motion picture side of things has had its merits. But as a longtime lover of characters originating from that publisher, I must admit I’ve been much more satisfied by what’s been accomplished on TV during the last decade. Hey, when people are capable of redefining Green Arrow and the Flash in a shared continuity bringing obscure heroes and villains such as Firestorm and Agent Liberty to brilliant life, I’m guaranteed to enthusiastically applaud.

Though Arrow has played host to a wealth of characters taken from the comics such as Black Canary, Arsenal, Mr. Terrific, the Atom and the Emerald Archer himself, it’s also injected new personalities into the mythos throughout its run. Battlefield 5's Firestorm battle royal mode will feature large-scale squad battles. Here's when you'll be able to play it:
We've finally got a new trailer and release date for Firestorm, Battlefield V's new battle royale mode. While this trailer is largely cinematic, it does reveal quite a bit about the upcoming mode.
For instance, it seems that vehicles will play a major role in this battle royale mode. Most of the preview is devoted to showcasing the various land, sea, and air vehicle options that players will find scattered across the mode's map. It also seems like Firestorm may place a larger emphasis on the danger of its closing circle (a sweeping fire) given how much attention the flames receive in this latest preview. We'll know for sure what this mode has in store for us when it launches on March 25.

In short, each passing season has seen at least a few heroes come and go, sometimes even in midstream (just as both halves of Firestorm).

With less than a week to go until Legends of Tomorrow‘s season finale arrives, it’s time we begin wrapping our heads around how much will be contained within that hour of television. I mean, not only will the team find themselves transported back to the Old West for the final battle against Mallus, but we’ve got some notable guest stars to look forward to seeing.

In its early days, Legends of Tomorrow was intended to be an anthology show, with storylines isolated to each given season and different lineups being showcased in each subsequent year. Of course, plans soon changed as viewers became attached to certain characters, but as time has gone on, we have seen a fair amount of heroes come and go.
A recent example of this would be Franz Drameh’s Jefferson Jackson, someone who’d been around since the pilot episode. After the other half of Firestorm, Victor Garber’s Martin Stein, exited the series, Drameh soon followed suit, as the writers may have not been able to figure out a way to keep his character around sans superpowers.
Fortunately, Jax’s position on the Waverider was recently filled by none other than Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale), with Matt Ryan’s John Constantine also slated to join in the action in season 4. And,...

Fortunately, Jax’s position on the Waverider will soon be filled by none other than Kid Flash, but that doesn’t change how abrupt the former’s departure felt, or the lack of impact that it had.

It's amazing what this series can do when there aren't an abundance of unnecessary characters aboard the Waverider.
DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 3 Episode 11 follows Zari as she's stuck in a time loop where the end result is always the ship exploding at the end of the hour with all of the Legends onboard.
What an intense hallucination, right?
While you could have predicted something like this at the beginning, the twist at the end with Gideon being behind the simulation of Zari trying to save the other Legends was interesting, and this was an important step toward including Zari as a more permanent fixture on the team.
Member-ish. This was always a temporary arrangement.

From the start, Legends of Tomorrow set itself apart from the rest of the Arrowverse pack by being a true ensemble show – and there was also the time travel element, of course. But, as the series endures, its lineup has gradually seen its fair share of changes, not unlike any heavy metal band that’s been around for a number of years.
To be more specific, the current season has seen the exits of both Victor Garber’s Martin Stein and Franz Drameh’s Jeffferson Jackson – both halves of Firestorm – thus leaving a considerable void. And while John Constantine and Citizen Cold will be around for the short term, the Waverider is in desperate need of more permanent fixtures.
Truth be told, one slot that absolutely must be filled is that of someone who is capable of keeping up the ship’s maintenance, a role that had previously been taken on by Jax.
