Sex & Nudity

Violence & Gore

  • Various shots show soldiers gunning down their leaders violently with them unable to react in enough time to save themselves. No blood is shown, as the guns they use are futuristic and fire laser bolts rater than lead bullets.
  • In a relatively short scene, Soldiers are dismembered by two characters. No blood is shown, and not very graphic.
  • For an extended period of time, two characters fight on a lava infested planet. Both characters are nearly successful in killing the other in multiple instances during this fight.
  • More violent than the other Star Wars movies. Multiple people are stabbed and slashed with lightsabers and someone is decapitated (in a non-gory way). Many people are also shot with blasters, there are more battles then other films in the saga.
  • There are five lightsaber duels in this movie, two of which have fatalities. A few war zone situations are depicted. No blood appears.
  • A man slaughters a group of alien dignitaries, ignoring their pleas for mercy and peace.
  • A child or young teenager armed with a lightsaber is bombarded and killed by enemy laser fire, after he kills a couple of them with a lightsaber, while defending his home. Horrified, an uninvolved witness screams in shock before retreating from the scene. One of the enemies can be seen being slashed across the throat by the lightsaber.
  • In a lightsaber duel, a man is kicked down to the ground, his weapon falling out of his hands.
  • A man armed with a lightsaber lunges at four opponents brandishing lightsabers and quickly kills three of them: stabbing the first to death, slashing the second to death, dueling briefly with the last two before slashing the third to death. Each of the three shrieks or grunts in pain while being attacked.
  • In a lightsaber duel, two of a four-armed alien's hands are cut off as he is disarmed accordingly.
  • After a brief lightsaber duel, a defeated man is decapitated, and his head can be seen rolling on the ground behind his body, but it merely looks like a ball.
  • In a lightsaber duel, a man is knocked unconscious after being sent flying and colliding with the side of a platform. He is then nearly crushed by the platform.
  • Two men armed with laser rifles are quickly decapitated by the short alien they attempt to ambush.
  • There are multiple instances where uniformed combatants use their laser rifles or heavy artillery to bombard and slay a single unsuspecting quasi-uniformed combatant with fatal shots. In one case, they can be seen repeatedly firing upon the downed body of their target.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • General Grievous's flesh-wounded may be creepy or menacing, espically during close-ups.
  • Children at a temple are implied to have been slaughtered when a man draws a weapon on them as they ask him for help. This is later confirmed when two characters later come across bodies of children, while one announces that someone (they do not know who) wielding the same weapon as the one shown to have drawn on the children previously.
  • Order 66, there are shots of soldiers gunning down Jedi. It is quite emotional.
  • Easily the darkest and most disturbing movie in the franchise.
  • Darth Sidious is a very creepy and intimidating. His distorted skin and voice are very underwhelming.
  • The Sith Lord gives off a peculiar, demonic growl as he performs his triple corkscrew jump toward the Jedi Knights who confront him. The mixed-pitch sound is like a combination of the sounds made by leopards and eagles.

Spoilers

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Violence & Gore

  • After a light saber battle, Palpatine is shown being scarred and deformed.
  • A man is maimed in fire. He screams and squirms as his hair and skin burn off, and we later see his charred (living) body being operated on.
  • In a lightsaber duel, a man leaps into the air, lunging at his opponent, but winds up losing both of his legs in the maneuver, before sliding disabled down a hill toward an extreme hazard.
  • As a man is about to use his lightsaber deliver a lethal blow to another man, a third man slices off his wielding hand before he can do any harm. The dismembered man screams in pain.
  • A man fights hand to hand with a cyborg, after they struggled with each other in a violent high-speed vehicle chase. The man kicks the cyborg in the leg and cries out in pain before the cyborg picks him up and tosses him over the edge of a platform (he manages to hang on.) The fight ends with the man shooting the cyborg in the chest, setting his innards on fire. Flames shoot out of his eyes and his charred corpse is seen lying on the ground.
  • A woman is levitated a short distance from the ground while being telekinetically strangled by a man, an instance of spousal abuse. Though he never makes physical contact with her, the tension-filled scene is violent.
  • An extremely collaterally-destructive and dramatic fight between Yoda and Sidious ensues, but neither of them is killed. Lightsabers, telekinetically-driven projectiles, directed energy attacks and telekinetic shoving are involved.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Multiple kids are slaughtered, no blood or murder on-screen. In the temple, hundreds of soldiers are shooting are killing People inside the building. 2-5 people are visible killed, no blood or gore. A kid is shot down after killing some enemies.
  • Anakin has nightmares about Padme dying in childbirth.
  • Palpatine uses lightning to fend off Mace Windu and it bounces back at him, deforming him severely. He stops but then when Mace goes to kill Palpatine Anakin stops him by slicing Mace's hand off with his lightsaber and Palpatine violently electrocutes Mace and throws him out the window to Mace's death.
  • The last scene with Obi wan and Anakin is extremely disturbing and depressing. As it shows Anakin burning with screaming and the end of the friendship. Very hard to watch
  • Padme dies when she gives birth to Luke and Leia. Quite upsetting.
  • Obi-Wan cuts Anakin's arm and legs, he falls near the lava and he is seen burning from close. This can be an emotional scene because of the dialogue Anakin and Obi-Wan have.
  • The ending is very emotional and depressing
  • Clone Troopers fire upon a Jedi and he gets killed.
